3. Championship Experience
Head Coach Richard Reed has 12 years of collegiate coaching experience,
including 5 years at the Division I level (West Coast Conference and Big Sky
Conference) two years at the Division II level (Cal Poly Pomona) and five years as
the Head Coach at The University of La Verne.
The Leopard Basketball Program provides personalized attention: 20-30 minutes
of each practice is spent on individual skill development with your position coach.
We create video breakdown and detailed scouting reports of all opponents in
addition to individual film breakdown for our players.
We compete against D-I schools every year. In the 2011-2012 campaign, we faced
Loyola Marymount and Cal State Fullerton. Additionally, we compete in top tier
D-III tournaments each year, such as the D3hoops.com Classic. Each season we
travel out of area- in the 2013-2014 season, we are planning a trip to Hawaii.
5. Championship Experience
Matt Durant, Director of Strength and Conditioning, is involved in all areas of our strength
training program. He has developed a comprehensive program for year-round
development.
Under Coach Rich Reed, the Men's Basketball Program has realized a 100% graduation
rate.
SENIOR NIGHT! During the last home game of the season we honor our seniors before the
start of the game.
Our newly created Hall of Fame and alumni tradition not only enhance our rich legacy but
serve to identify our graduating players with a sense of gratitude for their sacrifices and
accomplishments.
6. SCIAC
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is made
up of up nine member institutions all located in California.
SCIAC hosts an end of season Conference Tournament—top four
teams advance to play for the SCIAC championship and to receive
an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Conference has received an “At-large bid” two of the past five
years.
7. Facilities and Resources
Frantz Athletic Court, “Super Tents” (1,500 seat capacity). Built in Fall of 1973, dedicated in
March of 1974.
Building remodeled four years ago. Floor re-design scheduled for May 2012.
Two motorized main court baskets with LED lights and four side
court baskets to accommodate two full courts.
Newly added observation deck for media personnel and Leopard
game film.
Remodeled Athletic Training Room, Weight Room and Cardio Room.
Brand new Leopard Lounge complete with a big screen TV and couches.
Players are given new gear including shorts, shirts, sweats, travel bag and two sets of shoes
each season.
Our program utilizes the Shoot-a-way Gun and Dominator rebounding machine amongst
other tools to enhance our player's abilities.
