1. A competent Operations Director within the Nuclear Industry with a proven
ability to define and provide operational and technical solutions to most clients’
operational, engineering projects and maintenance plant needs.
Operating at various level win the client organisation in the last 7 to 10 years my
focus has been within heavily regulated industries, with a main specific
concentration in the Nuclear and Conventional Power Generation Industry for
the las 8years. In this period I have been managing change and transformation of
the business area I initially inherited and further developed the current business
into supporting situations that need plant stability, sustained or increased
performance for generation with the provision of implementing high-end
operational and technical recoveries of operational people, plant and process,
coupled with a number of successful fast track interventions across 68 EPRI
systems on the likes of reactor island, balancer plant and control systems
including mitigations in aging and obsolescence and plant life extension.
Responsible for the businesses Framework and P&L, daily operations,
development of product sets across a staffing level that fluctuates between 40
and in excess of 200 at any one time, I work as a team player operating at all
required levels in the customer and own business operations and technical
sphere.
I am proud to say that I have been instrumental to the key businesses successes
in the asset management area within the Nuclear Fleet of operators and at the
specific clients request more recently also the Coal Gas & Renewable Fleet where
I am bringing OPEX and shared knowledge.
I have adapted to the multi-parallel challenges and situations that have been
presented to me to provide business, development of products, daily operations
needs, safety, quality, commercial and technical engineering solutions to the
variety of tasks project and programmes ranging from a circa £5k to £ 4.5M each,
with over 72 individual task projects and programmes at anyone time, along
with an operational business unit in parallel.
I have played key roles of building several businesses from the concept and from
experiencing poor performance, establishing the recovery / development
strategy plan, raising finance, stake holding and implementation.
I have built a solid foundation of a trusted client network, within the Nuclear
Generation industry, and key suppliers that has become a key asset in the role I
currently succeed and further develop.
I had developed and owned my own business that provided the design,
integration and installation of Automation, Control & Mechatronic systems and
as part of this had my own workshops facilities and software engineering with a
through put to the tune of 4 to 5 control panels and motor control centres on
average leaving my workshops per week for the installation teams supporting
the Generation, MOD, Manufacturing, Process, Pharmaceuticals and Petro-Chem
2. industries, which I later merged into a group of businesses, taking on a group
Technical Director role.
My own core engineering knowledge basis is in the areas of Electrical, Control,
Instrumentation, and Automation that has included PCS7, WinCC and Discrete
and Distributed PLC and SCADA systems, that have been integrated intothe
industries I have named.
I have taken on behalf of my current, embedded / key seconded client
operational roles, this tends to be in the role of developing the recovery
methodology / strategy, driving the recovery application and holding the
accountability of the poor plant performance of the generation power plant.
I have in my career on a number of occasions had to manage and motivate
personnel in a changing environment, requiring coaching, mentoring and the
appropriate level of support to achieve the businesses goals and results, applying
Human Factors and behavioural techniques.
I am flexible and understanding, and I will strive for success in the business I
work for, I have over the years now my own proven man management skill, style
and technique, and find I am able to motivate and achieve results from my work
force or teams provided to me.
The works I have been involved from an operations, engineering plant build and
maintenance role has been in performance and management, cost control,
construction, sign-off and life cycle support on civil, building, mechanical, piping,
production, fabrication, electrical, control, automation and instrumentation.
For a range of clients I have implemented Project Portfolio, Plant Enhancements,
Technical Performance Recoveries, Commercial Viability and engrained Cultural
Changes covering engineering plant on, electrical, mechanical, control,
automation, fabrication, manufacturing, maintenance & installation /
construction issues
I have been instrumental in the Nuclear Industry in PLEX (Plant Lifetime
Extensions) key decisions and process to establish the PLEX and MTP investment
portfolio of £3/4BN from the development of System Lifetime Plans, mechanisms
in gather the multi-plant needs, setting challenge, prioritising, report
development for Investment Councils presenting the requirement to Multi
Senior Boards and Councils,
In all the roles that I have had, I have been keen to support and transfer my
knowledge to others through coaching and mentoring and have taken key roles
in mentoring apprentices and engineers at all levels for succession as to pass on
to them my wide wealth of knowledge and skill, many whom today have now
developed into Senior Engineers, Managers and Directors of some very
successful international Blue Chip organisations.
3. As well as managing my own companies team i have personally support the
customers with the likes of:
> Increased Asset Performance and Recovery, from defining and establishing the
origin route problem and recovery definition, through to Implementation of of
tactical, and strategic technical, cultural and sustained solutions.

solutions, Scheme, Mech, Elec, C&I and
However, in the last thirty years of electro mechanical engineering experience,
my career path has progressed from hands on installation, progressing through
engineering, project management and commercial roles to director, increasing
