BACKGROUND
Paul is an experienced Environmental Consultant
with over 5 years’ experience conducting OHS and
environmental projects including hazardous
materials surveys (nationally), asbestos risks
assessments, asbestos airborne fibre monitoring
and project management of large scale friable
asbestos removals as well as other key attributes
covering Waste Classification studies, Indoor Air
Quality (IAQ) assessments, HVAC inspections,
potable and cooling tower water sampling and data
analysis,
Having worked out of Perth, WA since 2012, Paul
has undertaken projects within the built
environment, commercial, residential and industrial
sectors. In addition to experience developed within
these areas, Paul has also undertaken a range of
soil and groundwater contamination investigations
(asbestos and physio-chemical) creating exposure
to both the Occupational Hygiene and
Environmental Compliance disciplines respectively.
Paul is also an approved signatory under National
Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) Australia
and the International Standards Organisation (ISO)
certification for asbestos fibre counting.
SPECIAL EXPERTISE
Building/structure surveys (management and
demolition surveys), risk assessment and
consultation/facilitation of abatement strategies:
Hazardous Materials, Dangerous Goods and
Hazardous Substances.
Project Management of large friable, non-friable
and fire related damaged asbestos remediation
projects. Liaising and providing accurate
information to an array of stakeholders and third
party contractors.
Soil and groundwater investigations, primarily
relating to asbestos contamination, but also able
to provide assistance with regards to other
physiochemical contaminants.
Indoor Air Quality assessments and specific
investigations. HVAC inspections and AS3666
conformance.
Environmental air monitoring (dusts, lead, silica,
asbestos).
Occupational Monitoring including Solvents,
VOCs, Dust, Silica, NOx, SOx, Lead, Metals &
Diesel Particulates
Dissemination of information within current state
specific Regulations, Codes of Practice and
Australian Standards to ensure client compliance.
SELECTED PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Created the HAZMAT gap analysis component of
a detailed mine closure plan for one of
Australasia’s largest mining companies. Review of
all historical data including mine and satellite
sites; and working closely a large multi-
disciplinary team from engineers to botanists.
During the previous tenure at QED Environmental
Services, Paul was tasked with the undertaking of
HAZMAT surveys in a variety of commercial
buildings, workplaces and shopping centres for
Global Property Management Companies.
Surveys, recommendations and facilitation of
abatement strategies for 800+ facilities were
conducted across national portfolios.
Air monitoring, enclosure assessment/certification
and clearance inspection for the removal of ACM
on Sydney Harbour Bridge during overnight re-
surfacing works.
Project Management: removal of friable asbestos
from roof cavity of a large, occupied heritage
building in the centre of Perth. Consultation with
building owners, historical conservation parties,
facility management, contractors and tenants.
Assessment, scope of works, tender process and
evaluation of submissions, air monitoring and
clearance certification.
Project Management: removal of friable asbestos
from structural beams and HVAC heater banks –
various commercial buildings within Perth CBD
and West Perth properties. Assessment, scope of
works, tender process and evaluation of
submissions, air monitoring and clearance
certification.
Investigation into potential lead contamination of
potable water drinking system at a regional rail
transportation centre. Researching historical port
data (ambient monitoring and loading manifests),
liaising with water treatment engineers and
maintenance contractors to deduce the likely
source and help provide scientific evidence to
assist in risk mitigation.
