Accounting Societies are a good bridge for the student that bridges them with the society.
Notably, there are a lot of things that are not taught in the classroom which can only be learned
practically. The Accounting societies are good avenues where the students can get to learn these
new things before they are integrated into the society. These societies are also good sources of
very specific skills that might not be taught in the classroom. Some of these skills include;
speaking professionally and also the power of networking among professionals.
According to the video clip, it is evident that the accounting societies also create an
avenue where the students can network and learn different things from other members of the
society. Some of the events that are offered by the accounting societies include general meetings.
These meetings are usually organized by the society to create and avenue where the professionals
as well as students can come together and get to hear from professional speakers. These
speakers are engaged on certain Accounting and business topics that impact on the life of the
student as well as the accounting professionals.
Other events that are organized by the society include career guide meetings where many
firms come together and help educate the members on accounting. Other areas that members are
educated in include the accounting career. Students are also educated and informed on different
internships that they can apply. They are informed on the application procedures and also the
best internships to apply for. The accounting societies also organize for the coming together of
the students and professionals where they can get to meet at a social level and just get to relate.
In these kinds of events, there are games that are played by the students and the professionals.
The games that are played are strategically selected to charge the mind and the body.

There is an interesting advantage that is associated with the accounting society in the
context of membership. Notably, the society offers sponsorships to students. The system that the
society uses to allocate the sponsorships is based on the effectiveness of the student in the
society. This is a good factor since they really do not focus on student’s performance. In this
context, those students that are not very good performers but do put in great effort in the society
stand a chance of getting sponsorship.
Notably, the accounting societies are a good forum to help shape the mind of possible
accounting students as well as those that are already in the career. With the kind of tutoring and
culturing that the society offers to the members, the accountants are trained to be professionals as
they learn and they get to have fun in the process. Interestingly, one of the authors notes that “it
is not about who you know but who knows you”. The society puts one out there and sells them to
the world so that you get to be seen around and are packaged in a way that will sell you to the
right professionals that might benefit you in the future. On the other hand, you might also get to
benefit them in the future.
In conclusion, we note that there are certain things that the accounting society helps the
members gain. The members of the society are trained in areas like time management through
the different assignments that they are given by the society. The different events that they
participate in also serve as avenues for their practicing for these traits. The society also helps the
members to learn how to be professional, gain exposure on the accounting career as well as get
discipline in the same area. There is also a sense of belonging that one gets by being a member of
the society. Another positive reason why one should join the accounting society is the
introduction to the accounting career and professional ethics they get to learn not leaving out the
public speaking skills that one can develop also. The accounting society is a positive influence.
