2. What was my role?
Data Analysis and Reporting
intern
Helping community partners
with data collection and
processing
Worked in EHJ office, Hispanic
Outreach, Summer Blast @
Pepin Woods
3. Big Projects
Designing and implementing a
new database to store client
information and services
Identifying a system for project
management; tracking
progress for new 3-yr strategic
plan and event planning for
upcoming festival
Collecting and entering
data/responses from students
attending Summer Blast
4. What did I
learn?
About nonprofits: how there’s a balancing act
between effecting change in the community and
bandwidth; how to work with limited resources
Data is needed by people who want to make informed
decisions; Creating a system to interact and process
the data efficiently is perhaps as important as the
data itself
Fostering relationships - whether it be between a
student and a caring adult or between organizations,
businesses, and schools - is the foundation for growth
and positive change
5. Favorite memories
Results Based Accountability
training; network meetings
Getting to engage with members
of the community
ex. students at Summer Blast
Attending events in RedWing
(concerts, River City Days), trips to
theTwin Cities or toWisconsin
6. Conclusion
Over the past 10 weeks in Red Wing, I’ve gained a better understanding of
nonprofit organizations’ day to day operations and how that contributes to
their long-term visions for greater impact.
My summer intern role will ultimately be only a small part of all the work
that EHJ and the Red Wing community takes on the upcoming years, yet I
am incredibly grateful for the experiences I’ve been able to have and the
people who have supported me.
My hope is that Todd, Lisa, and Aimee will continue to serve as catalysts of
change and that I will build on the lessons and experiences I’ve gained here
to make a difference as a student and after I graduate.
Thank you to Buck and Joan Foot (Princeton Class of 1969 & S69) for their
generosity in facilitating my internship!
