2. Parts of business letters :-
A business letter is rather more formal than a personal
letter.
There are four parts of business letter.
1. Salutation :-

3. 1. A Salutation :-
1. Address a person by Dear Sir or Madam if you do not
know name.
2. If you do not know the name of a man you are writing
to , Dear Sir is used.
3. When you are addressing a woman whose name you do
not know, you use Dear Madam.
4. If you have chosen open punctuation you do not use
comma after Dear Sir/Madam.
5. When you are addressing a company, you begin your
letter Dear Sirs. In the USA Dear Gentelmen is often
used instead of Dear Sirs.
4. 2. An Opening
1. We are writing to enquire about…
2. We are writing connection with…
3. We are interested in…..and we would like to
know….
If you are answering the letter, you can start :
1. We have received your letter of….
2. Thank you for letter of….
5. 3.The main message or body :-
Your letter should be neither too nor too start. The
length of your letter depends on whether the subject
of the letter is simple or a complicated one.
Many details are included, irritated. Planning you
letter in advance is the best thing to do. In this way
you will be able to decide what to included, In which
order and how you are going to express it.
You should also ignore informal colloquial language
as well as phrasal verbs, Idioms and short forms.
To sum up the language used should be : clear polite.
