5. Masthead
Layout: The masthead will be at the top of the page in bright
Tagline
yellow to link in with the ‘light’ aspect. The colour will also
stand out and catch the reader’s eye on a magazine rack in a
shop. Underneath the masthead will be the tagline “Shining A Cover Story Cover Story
Light On The Brightest Music Stars” This will be in small italics
in a different font to the masthead. The main image will be the Main Image
focus of the front cover, it will be in the background of the
page. In the foreground will be text. The largest text will be the
pull quote from the interview article inside. This will act as the
title of the main cover story and will grab the reader’s
attention. Underneath this will be a short explanatory text to
give more information about the main cover story. Other cover
stories will be dotted around the page all in the same font and
style.
Photo: I have decided, along with my focus group, that there Pull Quote
will be one person on the front cover –a female solo artist.
The model will use the direct mode of address to engage the
audience. She will be smiling to show she is happy as this will Main Cover
relate with the article inside the magazine. There will be bright Story
lighting to reinforce the idea of happiness.
The background of the shot will be plain so that the main focus
is on the model.
The model will be wearing head phones so the reader can Cover Story Cover Story Barcode
instantly see that it is a music magazine.
The model will be wearing smart-casual clothing so that the
reader can relate to them. The costume will show that they are
still a normal person even though their job makes them a
superstar.
6. Header
Layout: At the top of the page will be header saying “Contents”
in the same style as the masthead for continuity. The list of
content will be the main feature of this page as it is used to

will feature the main articles of the magazine with a catchy
title, page number and small explanatory text. The right block
of writing will be entitled “Spotlight Features”. This section

charts, reviews, competitions and posters. At the top will be a
large image of the cover star along with a page number. At the
bottom of the page will be three smaller images of other music
stars to draw the audiences in. In the bottom right hand corner
will be a message from the editor thanking the reader for

can expect from this issue.

be one large image spread across the two pages with

colour dress so it stands out against the white
surroundings. The whole article will be about the artist
opening up to her innermost secrets, therefore the
model’s body language will be open too with her arms
thrown back. She won’t be wearing much make-up.
This simplistic and bare shot should link in well with
the actual content of the article.
