Setting Realistic Goals
ake a Breakā€“ Taking a break from your work may be seen as a bad idea to some, but doing so can increase your productivity for the day which in turn
increases your overall work performance. Breaks from your work can be as simple as getting up from your chair and walking outside of the office
for a few minutes to get some fresh air, maybe have a glass of water. When returning to your work, you'll feel refreshed and ready to continue what
you were doing. It's important to set aside some time for yourself , not only in short breaks in the work place, but for your personal life as well.
Allowing time for family, and friends, will not only keep your stress down and allow you to work at a better capacity, but also allows you knowledge
of when work should be completed as you'll know what days you'll not be working, which allows a schedule to be set up and you can focus on your
work by putting in more hours the days you do work to meet objective deadlines.
2: Setting Realistic Goals ā€“ It's important when working to set realistic goals for...show more content...
By setting out your objectives in order of most important to least important, you can determine what tasks you should be finishing first. Making such
a list can take pressure off yourself, and less pressure is less stress, allowing you to work and function to the best of your ability. To easily determine
how you should prioritize your list, you can ask yourself, What the most important thing for you to be doing?, What deadlines have you got?, What
happens if you do not do this? Is it important? Is it urgent? and Do you Have to do this? A key timemanagement skill is knowing what to do and when
you should be doing it? At the start of your work day, instead of doing whatever grabs your attention first on your priorities list, do whatever the next
important item on your list is if your list ranges from most important to

Personal Goal Setting
Goal setting is one of the cornerstones of selfā€“improvement and achieving success. In fact, it's pretty much impossible to reach your maximum
potential without setting goals and putting them down in writing. Every successful business in America knows this to be true. Every publicly traded
corporation issues regular reports to their shareholders, and they always include specific, tangible goals for the next reporting period. Every
department head at that business will also have goals for the coming quarter and year. But many individuals who try goal setting fail. Why is that?
Because they do not understand how to write a personal goal statement.
What is a personal goal statement, and how does it differ from the way most people set goals? Well, let's...show more content...
A goal has to be written down, and it has to be personalized and specific. To write down "I want to lose weight" won't cut it. Something like that
won't inspire anyone, and it certainly won't focus your subconscious on moving toward a specific target. No, it has to be a personal goal statement.
Something like "I love being at my ideal weight of 125 pounds." Or "I love my new job as vice president of marketing." Those are personal and specific.
That's what you should be shooting for when you create your personal goal statement.
Among the list career goal examples:
When developing your career goal setting plan there are a many things to consider when it comes to finding your first job or assessing whether you
current job is right for you. One of the many career goal examples would be to make a list of some important questions to ask yourself about a
particular job. They include:
ā€“ Does a job in the field you are considering require you to move? Could a job in this field take you somewhere you have always wanted to move to?
ā€“ Are there many people with similar qualifications as me trying to get into this career field? Will have to continually obtain new certificates/training to
stay current in the

I am in a college skills class. I have been asked to choose a topic that I feel will
better my future. Prior to this class I simply thought the goals I had and accomplished
were enough. Everyday goals of paying bills on time and keeping on schedule now
doesn't seem enough. Well, I have since learned that things will go more smoothly, less
crazy, and I can reduce my stress level with a few more goals for myself and my
daughters as well.
Goal setting has become a new reality, I have always had goals, and now I know
with some planning I can reach all of them. I have set short to long term goals. In my
short term goal I would like to save $1000.00 by May 01, 2010 for home improvements.

In this class we took the Personality Style Survey based on Gary Smalley's
writings. The class was first given the survey and then the definition sheet of the
personality styles. Of course, I was the Lion. A brief definition of the Lion is likes to
lead. The Lion is good at making decisions and is very goalā€“oriented. They enjoy
challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions
thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive
and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge of other's

dictatorial. Limitation: Doesn't understand that directness can hurt others, hard time
expressing grace. This is truly the definition of myself. I have five daughters which I
gave this survey and three of the five were Lions (imagine that) the other two Otters.
In order for us to achieve our goals we must stay determined and focused. I
plan on using goals for the rest of my life. Every goal set seems to arrive before
its due date. This is such a great feeling for me. I have been a single parent of five
daughters for fourteen years and goal setting has been my husband most of the time!

They are four stages used in the creative process steps when attempting to resolve an issue. These four stages include challenges, identifying the actual
problem, investigating the problem, and finding solutions. My personal challenge has been completing my BA, Business Management Degree. I will

I expressed to them my mistake was taking a break from school because had I not taken that break, which lead to a longer break than anticipated.
"Mistakes, after all, are common, even about issues regarded as settled once and for all (Ruggiero, 2009, page 121)," This pushed me to work
even harder to prove to my parents I will earn my degree and make them proud. My family and friends were honest with me and shared their
suggestions and opinions, which were very useful in helping me, stay focus and achieving my goals. The suggestions and feedback I received
allowed me to be open minded and I did not take there feedback personal at any point within this process. Concrete criticism is awesome and it
allows growth and brings about new ideas I may have over looked. The feedback I received made me view the issue from different perspective and
it assisted me in narrowing down my options and solution to my issue about not finishing college. I created short term and long term goals and began
to execute them. I visited schools, ensured the degree of my choice was available, and I ensured I selected a school that was close enough to work and
home.
Some of the questions I asked myself and others: 1.) Should I attend college or obtain my cosmetology license?
I enjoy doing hair but I always knew I wanted to finish up my education degree. I was contemplating going to cosmetology school to obtain my license
to do hair. However I could not make my mind up and

Essay on Goal Setting
Goal Setting In the first article that I found It stated that Goal Setting is a formal process for personal planning, and is a form of motivation. It is
used for a target that a person works for so they can be successful. The process of goal setting is used by many people throughout the world that are
trying to and have already achieved something in their lifetime.
Setting goals helps a person remain focused on being successful, stay away from distractions, and will help with motivation. There are two types of goal
setting:
Longā€“term, and Shortā€“term goals. Shortā€“term goals are smaller goals that are "easier" to achieve, and will keep the person motivated and continue to
strive for success. They also are goals that lead up to...show more content...
Also, after achieving a goal, you must look back and ask yourself if the goal was too easy for you to achieve, if you learned something while trying to
achieve the goal, and if you need to fix any of your "skills" in trying to achieve your goal.
If you do not achieve your goals, then this does not mean that you are a failure as long as you learn something from your mistakes. You must find
where you made your mistakes and then fix them.
Some of the Key Points for goal setting is Deciding what is important for you to achieve in your life, separating what is important from what is
irrelevant, motivating yourself to achievement, and building your selfā€“confidence based on measured achievement of goals.
In the second article that I found, it stated that Goal Setting is a very powerful technique that can yield strong returns in all areas of your life. Setting
goals allows you to decide what you want to do with your life.
This article reiterates the previous article and states "Goal Setting Helps
Selfā€“confidence". "By setting goals, and measuring their achievement, you are able to see what you have done and what you are capable of. The
process of achieving goals and seeing their achievement gives you the confidence and selfā€“belief that you need that you will be able to achieve higher
and more difficult goals".
Some of the key points that this article stresses for setting goals is that you can achieve more, improve

Out of the three goals, (Personal, educational, and professional) I chose two of the goals that I am focusing on and that is my personal and
educational goals. For my personal goals, I want to create a big picture of what I plan to do in life. Then I want to break them down in order to reach
my goals, then once I have them together, then I would start working on them to achieve them. For example(Specific and Measurable goals), I plan on
finding a job that has great benefits and the best rate of pay, and one that does not require working on weekends(Mondayā€“Friday only), and not
working overtime....show more content...
I plan on earning my Master's Degree within a year of Graduation. While I am currently in school, I will rely on my instructors, academic counselors,
graduation team, the GCU Online Library, and the school's other resources that will give me additional help when I need them. If I feel lost or a subject
seems too difficult, then I will ask eā€“mail my instructors and let he or she know that I am having difficulty and that I need help. If I am feeling
overwhelmed about school, I will seek the help and advice of my academic counselor to help me come up with a solution to help me feel relaxed and
not stressed with taking online classes. I know that I will be successful if I always ask and seek help here at GCU.
After all of this being said, I believe that I am a D1 in the development level, which is "The Enthusiastic Beginner" (Low Competence/High
Commitment). I would be enthusiastic and be highly committed to doing my job if I were to have a certain position or even as a student in school
on certain levels in my program, but at the same time, I would and still do not yet know all of the ropes yet. Right now I consider myself a very
curious, inexperienced person who does quite have the skills required for the job in hand or the things that I have learned in school so far, but I am
yet hopeful that I will learn to develop and learn more and more skills in the near future.

Goal Setting Paper
During the beginning of the semester the goal setting essay allowed me to set goals I aimed to achieve by the end of the semester that related to
improving these following skills organization, delivery, content when public speaking. This assignment also gave me an opportunity to present any
openā€“ended goal I hoped to accomplish. In the goal setting paper, I stated "brainstorming allowed me to pick a topic I was comfortable sharing in
front of my peers and I used this method to organize my key points." Today I still use brainstorming to get my ideas and speech content organized for
my speech outlines, so I can have a smooth delivery. Regarding my organizational skills when preparing and developing a speech, I am satisfied with
the improvements and I have learned a great deal about preparing a speech prior to public speaking. For instances, during this course I have gained a
better understanding that different speech often requires different organizational methods to deliver an effective message to the audience. For future

I am presenting and displays that being nervous is a normal part of public speaking, however the way you handle that energy controls your experience

Discover What You Want in Life and Achieve It Faster than You Think Possible
Š’Ń—Que es Goal Setting?
Goal setting is the process of writing down specific, measurable, and timeā€“targeted objectives. You figure out want you want, you write your desires
down, and then you work towards achieving them.
Benefits and Importance of Goal Setting
Without goals or a destination, you are like a heat seeking missile with no heat to seek.
In addition to letting go of the chains that pull you in every direction, another benefit of goal setting is that it naturally helps you stay away from the
circumstances you want to avoid in life.
Goals allow you to take control. Instead of living life by chance, you live by choice ā€“ you choose...show more content...
Specific
Be specific. Buying a 3 bedroom house with a two car garage in downtown Chicago is a clearer target for your mind than merely saying you want to
own your own home.
Measurable
It is easier to stay committed if you can measure progress. If you set a goal to increase sales by 10%, and sales are up 5%, you can see the progress.
Positive
Say what you want to achieve instead of what you want to avoid. I will attend all classes vs. I won't miss any classes. When I say don't think of a
pink cow, what is the first thing that pops up in your mind? Right, a pink cow. Your mind doesn't hear the words won't and no. So when you set a
goal of not missing any classes, your mind automatically visualizes you missing classes, and that is not what you want your mind to do. You want it to
visualize what it is you want, so always state your goals in the positive.
Deadline
Set a date that you want to accomplish your goal by. Deadlines make you more serious about your goals; otherwise you might find yourself always
postponing your efforts to get started. Set deadlines appropriately. Remember that some goals may take years to accomplish, while others can take as
little as a day. Also, some goals don't have a deadline necessarily to complete something by, rather a deadline to start something. For example, a goal
to spend more time with the kids is something you start doing by a specific date, as

Respond to the following in 50 to 100 words each:
1.Describe one academic and one professional goal you have created using the SMART criteria. Explain why you selected those goals. The Academic
goal I had created using the SMART criteria is being realistic, because I had to be
realistic by putting my information and answers in my own words. I know that by being realistic
it showed how much I was able to understand how it is to wrire in my own words with doing
plagirism. I also think that being realsitc with my academic goal, I had created using the SMART

The timeā€“management strategies that I have learned this week that will help me achieve my goals are being more productive, and reducing my stress
level so that I wouldn't stress out about a particular assignment that was due. I had learned that I couldn't have low selfā€“esteem, because with low
selfā€“esteem it would've been hard for me to get things accomplished. The other time management strategy that help me achieve my goal was me
reaching my goal for the week, so that everything that needed to be completed was complete on time instead of late.
4.Describe how you will balance academic expectations and your personal and professional responsibilities.
I will balance my expectations by pushing myselfe harder and think about what has to be accomplished, so that I will be able to pass my college
classes. For my personal responsibilities I will always continue to take care of my child and make sure that my child has everything that he needs.
I will also make sure that I am a responsible person as far as what has to be done in my personal life with my own family. I know that having
personal responsibilities are important each and everyday, like paying for the bills in my home and making sure that there is food in my home. For
my Professional responsibilities I will definitely make sure that I complete all of my degree program classes, and I will make sure that I don't

Dyson had realized in that spring season of soccer when he suffered another devastating concussion it was time to hang up the cleats and pursue his
goal for his Green Jacket at the Masters. Marsden sat down with his swing coach to set up his objectives for his golf career. He realized he had a lot of
work to do to reach that goal of winning a Green Jacket. Marsden's father Jeff, had bought him a membership at Mattaponi Springs, where he
would spend countless hours on the range and around the greens. Dyson had a routine he would do every day; he would hit eight perfect shots
with each club in his bag. The young man then would move on to the chipping surface, he hit fifty perfect shots that had to land within three feet
of the pin. Whenever he had nothing to do, he would be on the range practicing, if he didn't answer the phone and you needed him he was at the
range working. He would put in dedication into his golf game twenty four seven. Dyson was finally recognized for his hard work when he got to
play college golf at Hampden Sydney College. Marsden was still striving for that Green Jacket. When he was not in class or not at golf practice he
was at the course hitting balls and perfecting his swing. On his way to earning that Green Jacket he had three NCAA Division 3 Championships at
HSC. Most people said his hard was getting him so far

Importance of Setting Goals Essay
The Importance of Setting Goals
Setting goals is the most important thing you can do in your life. Without goal's you are going to have no direction, no ambition to be successful, no
drive to stay in school, and trouble finding a career that will provide for you. Without these three things, achieving your goals is going to be one of the
toughest tasks in the years to come.
When setting direction to success you must make good choices on the path you are going to choose. The wrong path will put you somewhere that is
going to take you off track from your goals. This path can lead to partying too much, getting lazy, and not going back to school. Not doing schoolwork
is getting lazy. You muststay on top of schoolwork and not fall behind. If...show more content...
The drive to stay in school is another big part of setting goals. Without the drive to stay in school, you lose site of those nice things that can be
achieved with hard work. Drive also motivates you to do the things that you don't want to do, but have to do them. Things like writing papers, studying
for exams, and going to school during the summer. The drive to achieve your goals will help you through these tough times. Through the tough times,
think about all of those goals you are trying to achieve, and how nice it is going to be when you reach them.
Finding a career that will provide for you can be very difficult if you do not follow the path to reach your goals. This is another reason to stay on
track and work hard in school. Without your education, going into the work force and finding a good job that will provide for you and your family
can be very hard. Most jobs require school degrees and sometimes certifications that require many hours of work. Without the degrees and the
certifications, advancement in a job is sometimes impossible. Without advancement in a career, it is very hard to reach your goals of making that big
salary, and having all of the enjoyable things in life.
My first year of college I didn't realize the importance of setting goals. After my first year in college, having a good job, and seeing other people that
did not make such good choices, I have

Setting Realistic Goals

  • 1. Setting Realistic Goals ake a Breakā€“ Taking a break from your work may be seen as a bad idea to some, but doing so can increase your productivity for the day which in turn increases your overall work performance. Breaks from your work can be as simple as getting up from your chair and walking outside of the office for a few minutes to get some fresh air, maybe have a glass of water. When returning to your work, you'll feel refreshed and ready to continue what you were doing. It's important to set aside some time for yourself , not only in short breaks in the work place, but for your personal life as well. Allowing time for family, and friends, will not only keep your stress down and allow you to work at a better capacity, but also allows you knowledge of when work should be completed as you'll know what days you'll not be working, which allows a schedule to be set up and you can focus on your work by putting in more hours the days you do work to meet objective deadlines. 2: Setting Realistic Goals ā€“ It's important when working to set realistic goals for...show more content... By setting out your objectives in order of most important to least important, you can determine what tasks you should be finishing first. Making such a list can take pressure off yourself, and less pressure is less stress, allowing you to work and function to the best of your ability. To easily determine how you should prioritize your list, you can ask yourself, What the most important thing for you to be doing?, What deadlines have you got?, What happens if you do not do this? Is it important? Is it urgent? and Do you Have to do this? A key timemanagement skill is knowing what to do and when you should be doing it? At the start of your work day, instead of doing whatever grabs your attention first on your priorities list, do whatever the next important item on your list is if your list ranges from most important to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Personal Goal Setting Goal setting is one of the cornerstones of selfā€“improvement and achieving success. In fact, it's pretty much impossible to reach your maximum potential without setting goals and putting them down in writing. Every successful business in America knows this to be true. Every publicly traded corporation issues regular reports to their shareholders, and they always include specific, tangible goals for the next reporting period. Every department head at that business will also have goals for the coming quarter and year. Something like that won't inspire anyone, and it certainly won't focus your subconscious on moving toward a specific target. No, it has to be a personal goal statement. Something like "I love being at my ideal weight of 125 pounds." Or "I love my new job as vice president of marketing." Those are personal and specific. That's what you should be shooting for when you create your personal goal statement. Among the list career goal examples: When developing your career goal setting plan there are a many things to consider when it comes to finding your first job or assessing whether you current job is right for you. One of the many career goal examples would be to make a list of some important questions to ask yourself about a particular job. They include: ā€“ Does a job in the field you are considering require you to move? Could a job in this field take you somewhere you have always wanted to move to? ā€“ Are there many people with similar qualifications as me trying to get into this career field? Will have to continually obtain new certificates/training to stay current in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Prior to this class I simply thought the goals I had and accomplished were enough. Everyday goals of paying bills on time and keeping on schedule now doesn't seem enough. Well, I have since learned that things will go more smoothly, less crazy, and I can reduce my stress level with a few more goals for myself and my daughters as well. Goal setting has become a new reality, I have always had goals, and now I know with some planning I can reach all of them. I have set short to long term goals. "Mistakes, after all, are common, even about issues regarded as settled once and for all (Ruggiero, 2009, page 121)," This pushed me to work even harder to prove to my parents I will earn my degree and make them proud. My family and friends were honest with me and shared their suggestions and opinions, which were very useful in helping me, stay focus and achieving my goals. The suggestions and feedback I received allowed me to be open minded and I did not take there feedback personal at any point within this process. Concrete criticism is awesome and it allows growth and brings about new ideas I may have over looked. The feedback I received made me view the issue from different perspective and it assisted me in narrowing down my options and solution to my issue about not finishing college. I created short term and long term goals and began to execute them. I visited schools, ensured the degree of my choice was available, and I ensured I selected a school that was close enough to work and home. Some of the questions I asked myself and others: 1.) Should I attend college or obtain my cosmetology license? I enjoy doing hair but I always knew I wanted to finish up my education degree. I was contemplating going to cosmetology school to obtain my license to do hair. However I could not make my mind up and

It is used for a target that a person works for so they can be successful. The process of goal setting is used by many people throughout the world that are trying to and have already achieved something in their lifetime. Setting goals helps a person remain focused on being successful, stay away from distractions, and will help with motivation. There are two types of goal setting: Longā€“term, and Shortā€“term goals. Shortā€“term goals are smaller goals that are "easier" to achieve, and will keep the person motivated and continue to strive for success. They also are goals that lead up to...show more content... Also, after achieving a goal, you must look back and ask yourself if the goal was too easy for you to achieve, if you learned something while trying to achieve the goal, and if you need to fix any of your "skills" in trying to achieve your goal. If you do not achieve your goals, then this does not mean that you are a failure as long as you learn something from your mistakes. You must find where you made your mistakes and then fix them. Some of the Key Points for goal setting is Deciding what is important for you to achieve in your life, separating what is important from what is irrelevant, motivating yourself to achievement, and building your selfā€“confidence based on measured achievement of goals. In the second article that I found, it stated that Goal Setting is a very powerful technique that can yield strong returns in all areas of your life. Goal setting is the process of writing down specific, measurable, and timeā€“targeted objectives. You figure out want you want, you write your desires down, and then you work towards achieving them. Benefits and Importance of Goal Setting Without goals or a destination, you are like a heat seeking missile with no heat to seek. In addition to letting go of the chains that pull you in every direction, another benefit of goal setting is that it naturally helps you stay away from the circumstances you want to avoid in life. Goals allow you to take control. Instead of living life by chance, you live by choice ā€“ you choose...show more content... Specific Be specific. Buying a 3 bedroom house with a two car garage in downtown Chicago is a clearer target for your mind than merely saying you want to own your own home. Measurable It is easier to stay committed if you can measure progress. If you set a goal to increase sales by 10%, and sales are up 5%, you can see the progress. Positive Say what you want to achieve instead of what you want to avoid. I will attend all classes vs. I won't miss any classes. When I say don't think of a pink cow, what is the first thing that pops up in your mind? Right, a pink cow. Your mind doesn't hear the words won't and no. So when you set a goal of not missing any classes, your mind automatically visualizes you missing classes, and that is not what you want your mind to do. You want it to visualize what it is you want, so always state your goals in the positive. Deadline Set a date that you want to accomplish your goal by. Deadlines make you more serious about your goals; otherwise you might find yourself always postponing your efforts to get started. Set deadlines appropriately. Remember that some goals may take years to accomplish, while others can take as little as a day. Also, some goals don't have a deadline necessarily to complete something by, rather a deadline to start something. For example, a goal to spend more time with the kids is something you start doing by a specific date, as

Marsden sat down with his swing coach to set up his objectives for his golf career. He realized he had a lot of work to do to reach that goal of winning a Green Jacket. Marsden's father Jeff, had bought him a membership at Mattaponi Springs, where he would spend countless hours on the range and around the greens. Dyson had a routine he would do every day; he would hit eight perfect shots with each club in his bag. The young man then would move on to the chipping surface, he hit fifty perfect shots that had to land within three feet of the pin. Whenever he had nothing to do, he would be on the range practicing, if he didn't answer the phone and you needed him he was at the range working. He would put in dedication into his golf game twenty four seven. Dyson was finally recognized for his hard work when he got to play college golf at Hampden Sydney College. Marsden was still striving for that Green Jacket. When he was not in class or not at golf practice he was at the course hitting balls and perfecting his swing.
