How To Write An Evaluation Argument
First of all, the authors name are Lester Faigley and Jack Selzer. They wrote about the evaluation arguments on the good reasons researching and
writing effective arguments book in 2014. Firstly, there are many kinds of argument but, one of them is evaluation arguments . The evaluation
arguments focus on what we value. The criteria is very important and it should convince the audience so, the readers will agree.
The writer should introduce the person or the event he will talk about. Moreover, when the writer wants to write an evaluation argument he should
decide wether it is good or bad and what side he will be with. Also, for sure there are many people will disagree so, the writer should know why they do
not agree so he can improve his arguments

Brutus loved Caesar, they were best friends. He supported Caesar, except in becoming king. Brutus believed that one man should not rule the country.
He feared that if Caesar became king the power he gained would cause him to become a dictator. After he had killed Caesar,
Brutus told Caesar's ghost, "Caesar, now be still. I killed not thee with half so good a will."
Brutus killed himself because he loved Caesar and wanted him to finally rest in peace.
However, Brutus killed Caesar in the first place because he said he loved him. "If there be any in this assembly, any dear friend of Caesar's, to him I

What Makes An Effective Argument Ineffective?
1.The basic parts of an effective argument are a stated clearly defined issue, makes a claim, and offers support for that claim. Sometimes an argument
may also recognize opposing viewpoints and incorporate them into the argument
2.What makes an argument ineffective is when using emotional appeals to distract a reader from a lack of evidence. Also the use of faulty reasoning,
and inaccurate facts.
3.An issue is a problem, controversy, or an idea that people can have different viewpoints about. The term claim is a point in which a writer is trying to
prove. This is typically the writer's viewpoint on the issue. A refutation is recognizing and auguring against opposing viewpoints.
4.A claim of value focuses on an opinion or judgment about

Everything Is An Argument
After reading the chapter the phrase" everything is an argument" means to me any " text–written, spoke, aural, or visual– that expresses a point of
view" (Everything's an Argument, n.d.). Out of chapter one; I chose Arguments to Make Decisions. Arguments to convince and persuade are similar to
it. Arguments to Make Decisions are all around us; like the elections, health care, constitutional rights, and immigration Additionally, college students
are also forced to make decisions. They have to decide which major is the best one for them and their future.
When I think about Argument to Make Desicisons, and elections like it said in Chapter one. People will listen to a candidate to present their case. And
show evidence to support their assertions.

Argumentative essay on social media
Argument essay about social media Nowadays, a lot of people are using social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler and so on. Since the Internet
has propagated rapidly, social media have progressed a lot. The generalization of the internet makes us to live conveniently and fast. People are almost
using smart phones, i–phones or comfortable devices which can access to internet. These equipments make us to do social network easily. It helps
contact friends, family, and other people even though they live far away. It could be, however, abused, if you don't use properly. Especially, it is
important that we understand and regulate the use of social media by young children. First of all, social media, especially facebook,...show more

interaction could lead to major health problems." Also he claimed in the British Journal The Biologist "Spending too much time online could lead
to social isolation, loneliness and a negative outlook. These types of psychological symptoms could eventually lead to more serious health

social media we do not need to move a lot. It is okay just to stay. We do not need to active a lot. As a result, it leads naturally mental and physical
disorders. Third, social media doesn't help for their studies or talents. People think social media is good places to show their talents or works what
they did. For example, they argue people can share video clip what they playing the instruments or dancing or singing. It is, however, for people
who already good to do those. If you are not good at those things and if you spend time to do social media, it would be hard to progress your talents.
I did surveys about relationships between using social media and studying last semester. Most students answered using social media is not helpful to
study. Also, students who got good grades spend just a little time to use social media. Using social media

Kritika's Argumentative Effectiveness
Anyone can write an argumentative essay, but to be able to make the reader understand the content of the essay, it is vital to write the content in an
organized way. While taking the Core Humanities course, Kritika had to write an argumentative essay about five different philosophers she studied,
while making connections between them. Kritika employed several techniques to make her written communication effective. First, Kritika read the
prompt attentively that helped Kritika understood the requirements of the essay. Kritika, then, began to form the outline to communicate the ideas to the
professor accurately. Furthermore, Kritika wrote the thesis statement in the first paragraph and wrote five paragraphs to support the argumentative
thesis.

Argumentative Essay : My Writing Experience
This spring semester while enrolled in Professor Hazleton course I was able to have a much better writing experience than the one I had in the fall
semester. During the fall semester I struggled deeply with essays, making no higher than a C at times. I was a new incoming freshmen with no
experience in college once at all and by coming from a school that never really required me to write any type of essays I was sure to have a rough
start. Yet, this semester was different I felt more confident whilewriting my papers. Argumentative type essays are actually pretty fun to write
because you are able to pick the topic of your choice and that really helps one feel like he actually knows what he is talking about. I have written 4
argumentative type essays throughout the course and have noticed my writing still needs work. Although I still have a long while to go I have
developed a few strengthens during the course. I am now good at working with syllogism in order to make a good enthymeme thesis and now have
good skills in providing evidence, but even though I have made process I still need work in areas like avoid first person and backing up my claims all
the way through.
Although, I have more weaknesses than strengths my effectiveness towards using a syllogism to create an enthymeme thesis has really came a long
way for me. It came in handy in my "More Than Just One Language" paper where my professor made a comment stating that I had a very good thesis in
substance. To develop

Ways To Strengthen A Writer's Argument
The purpose of Academic writing is to make an argument, that is arguable and provable. Writers spend most of their lives trying to prove their point to
be accurate within their individual field. It is common knowledge that everyone argues everyday of their life. An argument is very much a point that the
writer is trying to prove with evidence to back up his point. Claims/ points can be simple or very intricate, but a necessity is that the writer takes a
position. The strength of your evidence is very important because if you have weak evidence you have a weak argument. However, do not attack the
reader with evidence without unpacking it for the reader to digest better. Another way to strengthen a writer's argument is to address the opposing

The Importance Of Writing An Argumentative Essay
As a student in a beginning English class some elements may seem difficult at the beginning but with practice they become long lasting skills. Writing
an argumentative is not an easy task there is a lot of elements that have to come together to create a successful essay but as many other things, it
requires constant practice and effort. At the start of this course I wasn't a very good writer myself, and I can see the huge improvement this course
made by looking at my first argumentative essay. I was able to identify and apply the requisites of a good argument essay. A well thought structure,
reliable evidence, and a counterargument are three essential components of argumentative writing.
The structure of an essay is the foundation to a good argumentative paper. Throughout this course I learned the importance of having an essay
structure, before I started this class I didn't have a very clear vision of how to correctly format my essay. In my diagnostic essay, which was the
first one I wrote for English 1302, had five paragraphs. That is considered a standard structure of many essays but it is more of a skeleton.
Looking back at that essay I see how poor my introduction was, I did not even have a clear thesis. One only thing even close to one that I could
spot was, "The "millennials," people born in the last two decades of the 20th century, are failing to reflect Rich's model for a good education." It
merely addresses the topic in a simple way. It did not serve the purpose a

Argumentative Essay On Monster
Monster Argumentative Essay
The United States judicial system says that you are innocent until proven guilty. In language arts class we read a book called Monster, by Walter
Dean Myers. Monster is about a 16 year old boy named Steve Harmon, and how he had to go on a trial for felony murder. The book is set as if Steve
is making a screenplay. At the end of the book Steve is proven innocent, and free to go, but I believe that there was not enough information for Steve to
be proven guilty. The jury did not see many parts of the story that readers of the book Monster read, for example, in his journal Steve writes about
wanting to be like King, he also has flashbacks to before the crime that show him interacting with other members of the crime, and finally he had a
lot of really close people doubting him. One reason I believe that Steve is guilty is because of his journal. In Steve's journal he says, "Anybody can
walk into a drugstore and look around."(115) This proves that Steve was helping to be a lookout in the crime, which means he was an accomplice,
and that he was in the drugstore when the crime happened. "It was me, I thought as I tried not to throw up, that had wanted to be tough like them."
Steve also writes in his journal (130). Steve is writing that he wanted to be tough like King and his friends. This proves that he wants to be like King,
which might have influenced him to help with the crime. Steve also writes in his journal, "I knew she felt that I didn't do anything wrong. It was me
who wasn't sure." (148). Steve wrote this after talking with his mother. Steve is doubting his own innocence, if he is doubting his innocence, then is he
really innocent? Steve has many flashbacks during the trial. One of his first flashbacks is with Johnny, Peaches, and King. They sat together while
King was planning to rob the drugstore. King says, "I need to get paid, man. I ain't got nothing between my butt and the ground but a rag." (50) Steve
agrees, "I hear that."(50) This means that Steve had at least known about the plan to rob the drugstore, and was there when King was planning to rob
the drugstore. In another flashback we read about Steve talking to Oswaldo Cruz, another person who was helping to rob the

Writing An Argumentative Essay
During this course I have learned there is in fact a great deal to writing. Throughout my lifetime I have had to write numerous amounts of essays and
papers for various subjects, all requiring different styles and techniques. Before engulfing myself into the writing process I would try and think of
whom I am writing to and what I am writing about. I always just assumed I was writing for my audience, that being my teacher. Writing an
argumentative research paper is something I had yet to accomplish in my college career. Not only was it thought provoking but this paper challenged
me in many ways, such as, knowing who I should be directing throughout the essay to as well as the simple steps of organizing my thoughts and ideas.
Also, simply reflecting on what information needs to be apart of the essay and what doesn't.
While writing for academic reasons I would always write for the grade, not for the purpose to write and truly convince the reader that what I am
writing about is in fact important. I have learned that when writing an argumentative research paper you are writing for an audience of people not
just to one person. You are writing to convince the reader why they should care about the topic, and the reader should be able to feel that passion in
your writing. You are writing to broaden the thoughts regarding this topic to whom ever chooses to read your paper not just for that grade. Thinking of
who I should direct my paper to is something I still struggle with, however,

Academic Essay: An Argument Analysis
According to Harvard College Writing Center in, "Overview of the Academic Essay," academic writing includes four major point that will help improve
it such as a motive and idea, a thesis and development, the tension of an argument, and the structure of an argument. Your essay must have a motive and
you should be encouraged and inspired to come up with your own authentic ideas. Yourwriting should not be boring summaries of readings or research,
but much rather have a purpose, a reason to understand the writing. When you become engaged with the material, you start brainstorming ideas,
finding readings interesting, and eventually produce writing that is worth having a meaning. Not all assignments will inform you what thesis you
should arrive

Writing An Argument Analysis
Fifth, I would like to discuss compare and contrast writing. This involves telling both sides, the whole truth and not just one side of an argument. When
presenting a formal argument it is most effective when both sides of the argument are presented. The relativity of truth is the basis for presenting both
sides of an argument (Dunkle, 2000).
An example of this would be the quality of healthcare veterans receive from Department of Veterans Affairs. Some feel that it has failed our veterans
while others feel the VA has made changes to restore faith in the VA. The VA has approximately 9 million veterans enrolled that are seeking healthcare;
many of these veterans have serious mental and physical health problems and often experience treatment...show more content...
When writing a document it is helpful to follow some basic fundamentals in sentence structure and word usage. It is helpful to keep sentence structure
simple, to avoid ambiguity and use words the reader understands. To assure success in writing it is also helpful to have a consistent point of view, use
a consistent verb tense (past, present or future), use parallel structure to emphasize the theme and sound authoritative and use an active voice rather
than a passive voice. Additionally the tempo should be varied by using short and long sentences, avoid profanity and spell the words correctly. I think
using words that can be easily understood and not having misspelled words are the most important in writing effectively. If there is doubt about a
words being used then it should be clearly defined. The message will be strong, effective and sound authoritative if these guidelines are

Argumentative Essay On Social Justice
Oftentimes, the definition of social justice can be misinterpreted or misunderstood. The true definition of social justice is often structured by
governmental implications but is the fair and proper administration of laws to each individual conforming to the natural law. Equality is supposed to
be equally distributed amongst individuals nationally, but can sometimes be taken advantage of and be taken away from people who deserve it the
most. Generally, those who view social justices as a right, also value people above profits. Social justice describes the concept of society where justice
is achieved in every aspect of society, rather than just the administration of the law. Overall, social justice gives society the ability to have a voice of
laws that may be broken but give a sufficient argument to be heard by the supreme court. Equality is a major issue that has been demanded by
society for centuries. In Victor Fleming's film The Way of All Flesh, released in October of 1927, the story describes the life of Henrietta Lacks.
Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman from Baltimore who eventually died of cervicalcancer in 1951. Before she died some of her
cancerous cells were taken without her permission and the cells have been reproducing in laboratories around the world ever since. The question is,
does taking the cells of a woman who was eventually going to die break the laws of social justice, or was this a necessary action to take in hopes of
eventually finding a

Writing An Argumentative Essay Templates
Some students prefer to write in there own style of writing, while others believe that following a template is not only beneficial but also constructive.
Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein say "Academic writing calls upon writers not to simply express their own ideas, but to do so as a response to
what others have said." Templates give weak writers, a chance, to improve on their writing in an organized fashion, while others believe that such
templates may hinder there creativity and retract from the originality of the writer. Many other templates exist other than the ones taught in schools.
The writers of "They Say, I Say' seek to convey that these "other" templates provide a structured pattern of ideas that lead to well formed arguments.
Using an opposing arguments, to your argument, is proposed to be the better alternative in writing an debate essay. Although templates serve...show

Throwing information at readers without explanation may prove to be more difficult for learners. Cathy Birkenstein and Gerald Graff do an
impeccable job of relaying the information on templates while using thorough explanation on how and when a template is useful. While an huge
amount of writers believe that using a template might deflate the writers creativity and originality, an alternate group of illustrators exists which
believes that templates provide a basis for great writing. Numerous amounts of individuals consider templates to provide a clearer way of writing,
and may help a writer focus on delivering a point without overstating facts. Birkenstein and Graff believe "That working with these templates can
give you an immediate sense of how to engage in the kinds of critical thinking you are required to do on a college level." or the higher type of

Essay on Virtue Ethics
Virtue, when I hear that word I think of value and morality and only good people can be virtuous. When I hear the word ethics I think of good versus
evil, wrong and right. Now when the two are put together you get virtue ethics. You may wonder what can virtue ethics possibly mean. It's just two
words put together to form some type of fancy theory. Well this paper will discussvirtue ethics and the philosophy behind it.
Virtue ethics is a theory that focuses on character development and what virtues one should obtain to be who they are supposed to be, as oppose to
actions. An example of virtue ethics would be someone who is patient, kind, loving, generous, temperance, courage and flourishing as oppose to a
person who lies, cheats, and...show more content...
Moral relativism explains a point that when it comes to morals, right or wrong, people have their own opinion. Not everyone will think something is
bad and not everyone will think something is good. The difference between moral relativism and virtue ethics is that actions do not matter. It is the
type of person you are on the inside. Who you are on the inside will help you make righteous decisions, regardless of the circumstances. "An ethics
focused on virtue encourages us to develop the good traits and get rid of the bad ones (Mackinnon)."
Virtue ethics was written by a Greek philosopher names Aristotle. Aristotle believed that every human's goal was happiness. Some philosophers
argued that happiness only came from following a set of rules, while Aristotle argued that the best way to have happiness is to cultivate a virtuous
character. The two kinds of virtues he recognized were moral virtue and intellectual virtue. The virtue that should be focused on to develop a virtuous
character is moral virtue. According to Aristotle, while we are born with a capacity to be virtuous, being virtuous is like a skill that we need to learn
and practice to be good at. The key element to being virtuous is being able to find the mean or right amount of our various emotions, dispositions, and
actions. Aristotle wrote: "Anybody can become angry– that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time

What Makes A Successful Argument?
What makes a successful argument? An argumentative essay is similar to any other essay. The writing process may vary, but only slightly to meet the
demands of an argument. When writing a convincing argumentative essay, one must first choose a topic and then think about that chosen topic, draft a
thesis statement, understand the intended audience, gather evidence, refute opposing arguments, revise the thesis statement, establish credibility, draft
the essay, revise the essay, and finally polish the essay. By implementing these steps one is sure to write a convincing argument. Whenwriting an
argumentative essay, one must first choose a topic of significance, a topic that the writer has an emotional tie with. The topic is to be tapered down
from the unspecific idea. ClichГ© topics are to be avoided such as the death penalty and abortion rights. Before beginning the writing process, thinking
about the chosen topic is essential. Invention strategies such as freewriting, brainstorming, clustering, and informal outlines are also used to gather
further ideas. At this point, a topic is already chosen and a thesis statement is ready to be made. The thesis statement tells the reader what your position
on the topic will be. An argumentative thesis is unlike other thesis statements. Instead of stating the topic, an argumentative essays thesis should
convey the writers point. The thesis statement should be precise and to the point. It should also show the readers what position will

At that time, I was taking my phone out of my pocket to check messages. He asked if I was playing games, I replied "No". He then asked what I

Everything Is An Argument After reading the chapter the phrase" everything is an argument" means to me any " text–written, spoke, aural, or visual– that expresses a point of view" (Everything's an Argument, n.d.). Out of chapter one; I chose Arguments to Make Decisions. Arguments to convince and persuade are similar to it. Arguments to Make Decisions are all around us; like the elections, health care, constitutional rights, and immigration Additionally, college students are also forced to make decisions. They have to decide which major is the best one for them and their future. When I think about Argument to Make Desicisons, and elections like it said in Chapter one. • 7. Kritika's Argumentative Effectiveness Anyone can write an argumentative essay, but to be able to make the reader understand the content of the essay, it is vital to write the content in an organized way. While taking the Core Humanities course, Kritika had to write an argumentative essay about five different philosophers she studied, while making connections between them. Kritika employed several techniques to make her written communication effective. First, Kritika read the prompt attentively that helped Kritika understood the requirements of the essay. Kritika, then, began to form the outline to communicate the ideas to the professor accurately. Furthermore, Kritika wrote the thesis statement in the first paragraph and wrote five paragraphs to support the argumentative thesis. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 9. Argumentative Essay : My Writing Experience This spring semester while enrolled in Professor Hazleton course I was able to have a much better writing experience than the one I had in the fall semester. During the fall semester I struggled deeply with essays, making no higher than a C at times. I was a new incoming freshmen with no experience in college once at all and by coming from a school that never really required me to write any type of essays I was sure to have a rough start. Yet, this semester was different I felt more confident whilewriting my papers. Argumentative type essays are actually pretty fun to write because you are able to pick the topic of your choice and that really helps one feel like he actually knows what he is talking about. I have written 4 argumentative type essays throughout the course and have noticed my writing still needs work. Although I still have a long while to go I have developed a few strengthens during the course. I am now good at working with syllogism in order to make a good enthymeme thesis and now have good skills in providing evidence, but even though I have made process I still need work in areas like avoid first person and backing up my claims all the way through. Although, I have more weaknesses than strengths my effectiveness towards using a syllogism to create an enthymeme thesis has really came a long way for me. It came in handy in my "More Than Just One Language" paper where my professor made a comment stating that I had a very good thesis in substance. To develop Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Ways To Strengthen A Writer's Argument The purpose of Academic writing is to make an argument, that is arguable and provable. Writers spend most of their lives trying to prove their point to be accurate within their individual field. It is common knowledge that everyone argues everyday of their life. An argument is very much a point that the writer is trying to prove with evidence to back up his point. Claims/ points can be simple or very intricate, but a necessity is that the writer takes a position. The strength of your evidence is very important because if you have weak evidence you have a weak argument. However, do not attack the reader with evidence without unpacking it for the reader to digest better. • 11. The Importance Of Writing An Argumentative Essay As a student in a beginning English class some elements may seem difficult at the beginning but with practice they become long lasting skills. Writing an argumentative is not an easy task there is a lot of elements that have to come together to create a successful essay but as many other things, it requires constant practice and effort. At the start of this course I wasn't a very good writer myself, and I can see the huge improvement this course made by looking at my first argumentative essay. I was able to identify and apply the requisites of a good argument essay. A well thought structure, reliable evidence, and a counterargument are three essential components of argumentative writing. The structure of an essay is the foundation to a good argumentative paper. Throughout this course I learned the importance of having an essay structure, before I started this class I didn't have a very clear vision of how to correctly format my essay. In my diagnostic essay, which was the first one I wrote for English 1302, had five paragraphs. That is considered a standard structure of many essays but it is more of a skeleton. Looking back at that essay I see how poor my introduction was, I did not even have a clear thesis. One only thing even close to one that I could spot was, "The "millennials," people born in the last two decades of the 20th century, are failing to reflect Rich's model for a good education." It merely addresses the topic in a simple way. It did not serve the purpose a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Argumentative Essay On Monster Monster Argumentative Essay The United States judicial system says that you are innocent until proven guilty. In language arts class we read a book called Monster, by Walter Dean Myers. Monster is about a 16 year old boy named Steve Harmon, and how he had to go on a trial for felony murder. The book is set as if Steve is making a screenplay. At the end of the book Steve is proven innocent, and free to go, but I believe that there was not enough information for Steve to be proven guilty. The jury did not see many parts of the story that readers of the book Monster read, for example, in his journal Steve writes about wanting to be like King, he also has flashbacks to before the crime that show him interacting with other members of the crime, and finally he had a lot of really close people doubting him. One reason I believe that Steve is guilty is because of his journal. In Steve's journal he says, "Anybody can walk into a drugstore and look around."(115) This proves that Steve was helping to be a lookout in the crime, which means he was an accomplice, and that he was in the drugstore when the crime happened. "It was me, I thought as I tried not to throw up, that had wanted to be tough like them." Steve also writes in his journal (130). Steve is writing that he wanted to be tough like King and his friends. This proves that he wants to be like King, which might have influenced him to help with the crime. Steve also writes in his journal, "I knew she felt that I didn't do anything wrong. It was me who wasn't sure." (148). Steve wrote this after talking with his mother. Steve is doubting his own innocence, if he is doubting his innocence, then is he really innocent? Steve has many flashbacks during the trial. One of his first flashbacks is with Johnny, Peaches, and King. They sat together while King was planning to rob the drugstore. King says, "I need to get paid, man. I ain't got nothing between my butt and the ground but a rag." (50) Steve agrees, "I hear that."(50) This means that Steve had at least known about the plan to rob the drugstore, and was there when King was planning to rob the drugstore. In another flashback we read about Steve talking to Oswaldo Cruz, another person who was helping to rob the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Writing An Argumentative Essay During this course I have learned there is in fact a great deal to writing. Throughout my lifetime I have had to write numerous amounts of essays and papers for various subjects, all requiring different styles and techniques. Before engulfing myself into the writing process I would try and think of whom I am writing to and what I am writing about. I always just assumed I was writing for my audience, that being my teacher. Writing an argumentative research paper is something I had yet to accomplish in my college career. Not only was it thought provoking but this paper challenged me in many ways, such as, knowing who I should be directing throughout the essay to as well as the simple steps of organizing my thoughts and ideas. Also, simply reflecting on what information needs to be apart of the essay and what doesn't. While writing for academic reasons I would always write for the grade, not for the purpose to write and truly convince the reader that what I am writing about is in fact important. I have learned that when writing an argumentative research paper you are writing for an audience of people not just to one person. You are writing to convince the reader why they should care about the topic, and the reader should be able to feel that passion in your writing. You are writing to broaden the thoughts regarding this topic to whom ever chooses to read your paper not just for that grade. Thinking of who I should direct my paper to is something I still struggle with, however, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Academic Essay: An Argument Analysis According to Harvard College Writing Center in, "Overview of the Academic Essay," academic writing includes four major point that will help improve it such as a motive and idea, a thesis and development, the tension of an argument, and the structure of an argument. Your essay must have a motive and you should be encouraged and inspired to come up with your own authentic ideas. Yourwriting should not be boring summaries of readings or research, but much rather have a purpose, a reason to understand the writing. When you become engaged with the material, you start brainstorming ideas, finding readings interesting, and eventually produce writing that is worth having a meaning. Not all assignments will inform you what thesis you should arrive Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Writing An Argument Analysis Fifth, I would like to discuss compare and contrast writing. This involves telling both sides, the whole truth and not just one side of an argument. When presenting a formal argument it is most effective when both sides of the argument are presented. The relativity of truth is the basis for presenting both sides of an argument (Dunkle, 2000). An example of this would be the quality of healthcare veterans receive from Department of Veterans Affairs. Some feel that it has failed our veterans while others feel the VA has made changes to restore faith in the VA. The VA has approximately 9 million veterans enrolled that are seeking healthcare; many of these veterans have serious mental and physical health problems and often experience treatment...show more content... When writing a document it is helpful to follow some basic fundamentals in sentence structure and word usage. It is helpful to keep sentence structure simple, to avoid ambiguity and use words the reader understands. To assure success in writing it is also helpful to have a consistent point of view, use a consistent verb tense (past, present or future), use parallel structure to emphasize the theme and sound authoritative and use an active voice rather than a passive voice. Additionally the tempo should be varied by using short and long sentences, avoid profanity and spell the words correctly. I think using words that can be easily understood and not having misspelled words are the most important in writing effectively. If there is doubt about a words being used then it should be clearly defined. The message will be strong, effective and sound authoritative if these guidelines are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Argumentative Essay On Social Justice Oftentimes, the definition of social justice can be misinterpreted or misunderstood. The true definition of social justice is often structured by governmental implications but is the fair and proper administration of laws to each individual conforming to the natural law. Equality is supposed to be equally distributed amongst individuals nationally, but can sometimes be taken advantage of and be taken away from people who deserve it the most. Generally, those who view social justices as a right, also value people above profits. Social justice describes the concept of society where justice is achieved in every aspect of society, rather than just the administration of the law. Overall, social justice gives society the ability to have a voice of laws that may be broken but give a sufficient argument to be heard by the supreme court. Equality is a major issue that has been demanded by society for centuries. In Victor Fleming's film The Way of All Flesh, released in October of 1927, the story describes the life of Henrietta Lacks. Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman from Baltimore who eventually died of cervicalcancer in 1951. Before she died some of her cancerous cells were taken without her permission and the cells have been reproducing in laboratories around the world ever since. The question is, does taking the cells of a woman who was eventually going to die break the laws of social justice, or was this a necessary action to take in hopes of eventually finding a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Writing An Argumentative Essay Templates Some students prefer to write in there own style of writing, while others believe that following a template is not only beneficial but also constructive. Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein say "Academic writing calls upon writers not to simply express their own ideas, but to do so as a response to what others have said." Templates give weak writers, a chance, to improve on their writing in an organized fashion, while others believe that such templates may hinder there creativity and retract from the originality of the writer. Many other templates exist other than the ones taught in schools. The writers of "They Say, I Say' seek to convey that these "other" templates provide a structured pattern of ideas that lead to well formed arguments. • 18. Essay on Virtue Ethics Virtue, when I hear that word I think of value and morality and only good people can be virtuous. When I hear the word ethics I think of good versus evil, wrong and right. Now when the two are put together you get virtue ethics. You may wonder what can virtue ethics possibly mean. It's just two words put together to form some type of fancy theory. Well this paper will discussvirtue ethics and the philosophy behind it. Virtue ethics is a theory that focuses on character development and what virtues one should obtain to be who they are supposed to be, as oppose to actions. An example of virtue ethics would be someone who is patient, kind, loving, generous, temperance, courage and flourishing as oppose to a person who lies, cheats, and...show more content... Moral relativism explains a point that when it comes to morals, right or wrong, people have their own opinion. Not everyone will think something is bad and not everyone will think something is good. The difference between moral relativism and virtue ethics is that actions do not matter. It is the type of person you are on the inside. Who you are on the inside will help you make righteous decisions, regardless of the circumstances. "An ethics focused on virtue encourages us to develop the good traits and get rid of the bad ones (Mackinnon)." Virtue ethics was written by a Greek philosopher names Aristotle. Aristotle believed that every human's goal was happiness. Some philosophers argued that happiness only came from following a set of rules, while Aristotle argued that the best way to have happiness is to cultivate a virtuous character. The two kinds of virtues he recognized were moral virtue and intellectual virtue. The virtue that should be focused on to develop a virtuous character is moral virtue. According to Aristotle, while we are born with a capacity to be virtuous, being virtuous is like a skill that we need to learn and practice to be good at. The key element to being virtuous is being able to find the mean or right amount of our various emotions, dispositions, and actions. Aristotle wrote: "Anybody can become angry– that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
