paper and shed old electronics

Remember the eight-track tape player? How about
microwaves when they were the size of today's smart cars? A few of these long-expired electronics joined
defunct monitors, televisions, and computers last week in e-waste collection bins at Key Equipment
Finance's Superior offices for a special Earth Week event.
"We had lots of wonderful response from our employees, and people were thrilled to get rid of this stuff,"
said Paige Yungstrom, who leads Key Equipment Finance's Project impACT team, which organizes of the
event. The e-waste collection, done in partnership with Techno Rescue, filled seven collection bins.
Because electronics cannot be disposed of in the normal trash stream, a special recycling process is
needed for disposal.

Also last week, Key Equipment Finance employees
turned off electronics during a blackout hour, used the PaperKarma app to stop junk mail, brought in old
cell phones to benefit the Red Cross, and participated in the 2nd Annual Shred Day. The shred event
collected 1,500 pounds of paper for shredding by Key's secure shredding partner Cintas - a 50% increase
from the previous year. "Employees could bring as much as they wanted to discard from home for
shredding," Yungstrom said.
Key employees also learned during the event that their year-long dedication to using refillable water
bottles has kept 42,000 single-use (12 ounce) water bottles out of the waste stream. One employee who
used to purchase two water bottles a day from the vending machine figured the effort also saved him $500
a year. "I feel like people are happier and healthier for it,"
Yungstrom said.
