The document describes the design process of Benjamin Shine for creating a reusable candle holder. The Rekindle Candle holder regenerates the candle as it burns by forming melted wax into a new candle. During design development, plans and prototypes were created to test the design. The prototype identified problems which were addressed. The final production implementation stage completed the design project.
2. DISCOVERY – DEEP
UNDERSTANDING
• A candle is an ignitable wick
embedded in wax, or another
flammable solid substance such as
tallow, that provides light, and in some
cases, a fragrance.
• A candlestick is a device used to hold
a candle in place. Candlesticks have a
cup or a spike (“pricket”) or both to
keep the candle in place. Candlesticks
are less frequently called
“candleholders”.
STEP-0
3. • The earliest candlestick which has
been discovered is a clay
candleholder which dates back to
400BC, and it believed that the
candle itself was created as early
as 3000BC by the Ancient
Egyptians, who used beeswax to
illuminate their way in the dark.
4. CONCEPT-
BRAINSTORMING/VISUALISING
Concept , Visual brainstorming
simply means putting ideas and
thoughts on display (rather than
the actual act of drawing visuals).
You can be at any experience
level and still be an effective visual
brainstormer.
STEP-1
5. CONCEPT WHICH LEAD FOR REUSABLE
CANDLE HOLDER INNOVATION
REUSE CONCEPT
The concept of this candle
holder is to reuse the wax
which has wasted in the time
of burning it.
Now a days wax is becoming
more cost in the market
A small reusing concept for
candle. Which saves candle
wax
6. • The Rekindle Candle, designed by Benjamin Shine,
is a clever candlestick holder that regenerates the
candle as it burns by forming the melted wax into a
new candle. The newly-formed candle can then be
placed on top of the holder and the process can be
started again.
• The pillar candle holder design is so simple that it
almost makes you wonder how no one ever thought
of it before. The melted wax from the candle on
Shine’s Rekindle candle holder all flows into the
holder’s hollow stalk, which has a second wick
running along its length. The wax accumulates
around the wick and hardens, forming a second
reusable candle. All that’s left is to open the glass
candle holder’s hollow stalk and use the new candle.
7. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
• Design Development Phase means
that Phase in the development of the
Design Documents during which
Designers plans the form and
functionality of the product.
• In design development, the
schematic plans and elevations are
reviewed, revised and expanded to
incorporate all the details and
specifications required for
construction. Project components are
looked at to the smallest detail.
STEP-2
8. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
• In this stage they have
made Plan for making the
product functional to
analyse the design aspects
• They have made blueprint
for making the physical
model(prototypes)
9. PROTOTYPING
• A prototype is an early sample,
model, or release of a product built
to test a concept or process. It is a
term used in a variety of contexts,
including semantics, design,
electronics, and software
programming. A prototype is
generally used to evaluate a new
design to enhance precision by
system analysts and users.
STEP-3
10. •In this stage Product prototype
model was made for testing
•It was first tested to check the
design, functional and working
outcomes
•After this stage the problems
identified and improvements are
to be implemented in next
further step design review
11. DESIGN REVIEW
A design review is a step of
development that measures
project success and prioritizes
the next steps or features to
continue developing. ... A
design review is not a design
pitch. It’s a process to
evaluate and critique current
design work.
STEP-4
12. •In this stage the problems
are identified and the
solutions are made for the
problem
•The product needs to
redesigned according to
sustainability if needed
13. PRODUCTION IMPLEMENTATION
• This is the final stage of Process
• The Product Implementation
Process is the key activity that
moves the project from plans and
designs into realized products.
Depending on the project and life
cycle phase within the project, the
product may be hardware,
software, a model, simulations,
mock-ups, study reports, or other
tangible results.
STEP-5
14. • In this stage Benjamin shine
the Designer of the product
finally implemented all the
design solutions and
completed the design project
and made production to
supply for the customers for
commercial value.
• This is the final stage and
final outcome of a design
process
