Country Nationals (TCNs)
2. Greek Language Program for
Minor Third-Country Nationals (TCNs)
• The program is specifically designed to meet the needs
and expectations of TCN students.
• Through the program students are expected to acquire
basic language skills by attending second language classes.
3. Greek Language Program for
Minor Third-Country Nationals (TCNs)
These language skills are:
• Listening and speaking
• Reading and writing
These skills will be taught in line with the school curriculum.

The Program is funded by the Asylum, Migration and
Integration Fund of the Republic of Cyprus.
5. Benefits to children and local communities
Language skills are essential for the smooth integration of
TCN children to school and into the Cypriot society in
general.
6. The development of language skills:
• will facilitate the daily activities of the students,
• will support their integration to society,
• will minimize the risk of social exclusion,
• will familiarize students with the habits, the daily routine
and the culture of Cypriot society,
• will strengthen their academic performance.
12. Program Application
Venue: specific schools in all government-controlled areas of the Republic of
Cyprus
Duration: 65 hours
February – June 2017
Time: upon completion of the school day
2 times a week
2 hours each time
Participants will be offered a snack at the beginning of each lesson
13. Program Application
• Levels of teaching (Α1 and Α2)
• Each child is entitled to take the final exam, after
attending more than 60% of the course.
• Children who will successfully complete the course
will be rewarded with a tablet.
