Introduction
 When we see the term testing the first thing to come to our mind is
some sort of investigation to evaluate the state of something, however
this testing term is very familiar to us as we are used to see it in many
usual fields , but when this familiar term is combined and turned to be
non destructive testing a lot of questions marks comes to our head.
 So what is non destructive testing ?
Definition
 Dividing Non-destructive testing (NDT) term makes understanding it
easier so we can define it as testing and analysis technique used by
industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component, structure or
system for characteristic differences or welding defects and
discontinuities without causing any damage to the material.

The non destructive testing field of application is so large and its turning to
be larger by the progress made nowadays in industry , this progress require
a mass variety methods of NDT testing.
the following illustration reveal an overview of some used methods
Advantages
 Using NDT offers too many distinct advantages, we will try to mention some
of them :
 the process leave the tested piece undamaged
 Non-destructive testing is also a very accurate way of inspection since the tests are repeatable and a
number of tests can be used together to correlate results.
 These testing methods are also economical.
 NDT is cost effective as it can prevent the need to replace an item before malfunction occurs without
destroying the piece itself.
Application of NDT
 NDT testing nowadays is used in a lot type of industry including
aerospace , marine industry , power , petroleum pipelines and so many
fields.
Conclusion
 As we saw NDT is a comprehensive way to find, size, and locate surface
and subsurface flaws and defects that could have an adverse impact on
safety, reliability, and the environment. NDT plays a crucial role in
everyday life for companies using pipelines, bridges, refineries, oil
platforms, power stations, and more.
