Young Entrepreneurs Talk. That was the topic, fitting for a young audience full of students. We wanted to bring relevant stories and key learning points from entrepreneurs in different stages to the audience, many of whom are about to embark on similar ventures.
INTRO
Hi – I am Christine and together with my team in Blueye I develop underwater drones that will revolutionize the way we experience the ocean...It has been a great journey and it all started as a student at NMBU in Ås. During my presentation I want to take you through some of my learnings – going from student to entrepreneur. Lets start with a video
REFLECTIONWe're living in a world where tecnological development is hapening faster than ever. We create artificial inteligence and do research on Super Humans that wil outoncours our capabilities today, to perform at a higher levels.
Space is the next big goal to travel to, and we compete to become the first mover, and to establish a new world – becuase we will need it when we've spent all the resources on Earth.
WALL E
In the midst of all this – it seems like we’ve forgotten what’s right before our eyes, what we all come from; the ocean!
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO US REALLY?Well, to some of us it’s an arena for sports such as sailing, padling or surfing, while it’s the work place to others.
Myself, I live in a boat, but most people who’ve never set their foot in a boat before – and many people have never even seen the ocean.
Nevertheless does the ocean cover about 70% of the Earth’s surface, yet we have only discovered about 5-10% of it.
Meaning the ocean is the last frontier – imagine now that we can all become explorers!?
I have always known that I wanted to work with the ocean, and do whatever I can to take care of it, but that underwater drones was the way to go wasn't so obvious.
THE BEGINNING
1,5 year ago my Co-founder, Erik, and I together with professors from NTNU founded Blueye – our goal was to make the ocean available to everyone!
And the magic started in this messy office – at the innovation center at NTNU.
FIRST MILESTONE
A scientific research expedition across the Atlantic Ocean became our first milestone – together with 14 other girls I sailed across the Atlantic ocean from senegal to brasil to investigate the connection between marine litter and health.
.. and in only 10 weeks we had the first prototype ready. I brought it with me from Senegal to Brazil, where we used it for mapping marine litter on the seabed.
USE YOUR VOICE!
The passion for a healthier ocean is a cruical part of the company's identity, so beside working with Blueye, I do what I can to inspire ocean awareness and question our habits as consumers – like here at Newton that you may have heard of.
Blueye Pioneer is our first underwater drone, and has many applications; everything from ship inspection to search and rescue and a tool for education, exploration and fun.

WORK ON ALL LEVELS
GOOD THING HAPPEN WHEN PEOPLE COLLABORATE!
REV will be the worlds largest research vessel – developet in collaboration between Kjell Inge Røkke and WWF.
NEVER FORGET WHY YOU DO WHAT YOU DO!
IMPACT
To take care of the ocean, we must understand it, and to understand the ocean – we must explore it.
The experts say that to succeed you must be driven by more than just financial profit –
RICHARD
And the same experts believe in Blueye. We have a strong and supportive network.
