Informative Communication
Lesson six of the text and supplementary readings provided an excellent summation of our learning over the past month. Agreeably, informative
communication is essential, which begins with consistent messaging for improved understanding, decision making and accountability for public,
council and staff. (pg. 27, 29).
With all three aforementioned entities understanding "what you do and why" (pg 29), can assist in the development of performance management

What is an Expository Writing?
'Expository' is a synonym of 'explanatory'. An expository essay, thus, is a piece of writing that explains or informs. It is meant to be based on fact and
free of the writer's prejudices. Opinion is often expressed, but only if it is backed by fact. For example, if someone asked you to write an essay on the
causes of World War II, you might write about Germany's losses in World War I, the Treaty of Versailles, the fall of the Weimar Republic and the rise
of Hitler led Nazism. In other words, everything would be based on verifiable fact – an expository essay.
The expository writing process is centered on four activities:

Informative Speech
Informative speeches are delivered in order to convey and communication knowledge, information, or insight regarding an issue. Similarly, it could be
used to describe a person, place, or procedure. All in all, it is used in order to help the audience build an understanding of something. This does not
entail the speaker to try to persuade individuals of this but, better yet, inform them. When delivering informative speeches, there are three vital
characteristics that allow the speaker to reinforce their point and the audience to obtain the information more clearly. These characteristics include:
effective openings, notable transitions, and some other device that captivates the imagination and attention of the audience. Allena, Meaghan, Meghan,

because I didn't really see much to the mechanics of throwing a bowling ball. Nevertheless, he began immediately by captivating me when he
introduced a picture of the inside of the bowling ball. This made me more receptive to the overall presentation. Furthermore, his approach kinesthetic
approach and lack of a script were also tremendously unique. I believe that the fact that he is a member of the bowling team and he could so smoothly
deliver that speech gave him much credibility. This is a very crucial element when giving an informative speech because it shows you are
knowledgeable about the subject and know what you are talking about. Together with the physical demonstrations, Adam did a successful job of
catching my attention and learning how to properly throw a bowling

Finally choose the specific purpose and central idea. These two help the speaker stay on topic while giving the audience the objective for the speech.
Now that the speaker has figured out what type of speech they want to present they can create a working outline. The outline should take a few minutes
to construct. This will guide the speaker research. Now the working outline is only a rough outline. In this outline the speaker might use question for
the main points and later use sentences for the preparation outline. After the working outline is complete the speaker is ready to conduct research.
When researching the speaker wants to find material the will make the audience want to listen and learn. The speaker should select material that have a
language level appropriate, something that will interest the audience, and if the topic is complex make sure to find multiple perspectives and means
because everyone learns differently. The speaker should use the internet, library, newspapers, magazines, and personal knowledge in order to create
their speech. Now that the speaker knows the topic it is time for them to construct the informative outline. This outline is structured and includes
complete sentences and will typically end with a source page. When making the outline a speaker needs to know how to organize the body of an

The effects of social media on human behavior: An Informative Essay
Communication varied in form and method since the beginning of civilization. However, since technology was used for the exchange of information,
many different technological platforms were created and this has had an effect on communication itself. For example, social media revolutionized
human communication in an irrevocable way. In the 21st century, social media is playing an important role in our community. Through social
media we communicate, we share, we have fun and we can even work every day with people all around the world. But, as social media is growing
and becoming essential, the only thing we started caring about is likes, followers, showing off, and feeding our virtual life, even if it's fake. This
topic seems relevant and highly important in a time where technology is becoming essential and vital for our everyday life. Social media serves as a
way of exposing people's day to day events, even the most trivial ones, and we have come to a point where this obsession for posting everything has
exceeded any type of existent limit flirting with the line that distinguishes social media as an art and a vice. To what extent is this addiction carrying
humanity in the right direction?
The effects of social media are mainly affecting kids, teens and young adults. Over the last years, we became aware of the consequences and
problems the use of social media brings. For example, cyberbullying is a main issue as people may take advantage of being behind a screen to say
things they would not say in person. Moreover, social media may be seen as a waste of time because we tend to spend the whole day using these
platforms instead of make the most of our time. In fact, sitting down all day is not healthy and it may bring severe future problems such as diabetes
and obesity. Furthermore, with social media we can even learn other's life story and the things they like by looking at their profiles. This may be
dangerous as people with evil intentions have access to this information too.
People believe and know social media has both, positive and negative effects on human behavior. In order to prove this, I asked my classmates whether
social media has

Writing An Informative Essay
The definition essay is the most basic form of an informative essay. Its goal is to simply provide an explanation. Informative essays that define
provide their explanation using one of three methods: They can use synonyms to explain what the new term is similar to, categories to help the reader
see where the term fits in compared to others, or negation to allow the reader to understand the term by seeing what it isn't. In addition to the three
methods, there are several ways you can organize an informative essay that provides a definition. The most important thing is to present them in a
logical order that makes sense, and there's not one method that's best in every case. Some organization schemes you might consider include presenting

Persuasive Informative Essay
Just the right splash of color of paint can help you get more money for your home, however, thousands of colors to choose from can be
overwhelming. On the other hand, what if the color swatches were not organized by the brand of paint along with the paint colors not flowing
together to see the different shading of reds, blues, yellows, etc.? What if we only knew words from elementary and we had intelligent people using
strong words that we have never heard of before?
Organization is an important element for life. Without it, life would be a crazy unorganized mess. For example, when explaining how making a quilt
you would not start on the sewing machine, you would start by picking out the material you would want to make the quilt out of along with the pattern
you want the quilt to look like. It is starting from the beginning and working your way to the end. Therefore, you will understand how to make a quilt
by doing it in spatial order.
It is important when giving a speech for it to be organized and easily understood. For one, it will make your speech go smoother, second, people will
understand you better and third it builds trust. If you are going to inform or persuade your audience that you do not have to go out of the country to
see clear blue ocean water. Organize your thoughts to make them believe that you can be in paradise staying in the United States. For example, I have
gone to Panama beach located in Florida and the crystal blue water is comparable to a swimming

Speech : A Reflection Of An Informative Speech
Informative Speech Reflection Paper After giving and analyzing my informative speech I learned many new things that will help me in my future
speeches. Looking at the aspects of content, delivery, and organization I have learned by gibing this speech and being in this class how to better
come across to my audience to make my topic as clear and as informative as I can. This assignment has helped me gain a better understanding of my
topic, but also has helped me gain further knowledge on writing and giving my speech to an audience, along with opened my eyes to improvements I
need to make in my future speeches. I have learned many new techniques and aspects to include in my speeches to make my future speeches better.
Content is a very important part of an informative speech. I focused a lot on having strong points in my informative speech. I focused on discussing
the types of service dogs, and the qualifications to have a service dog, along with the training a service dog undergoes. My main points I chose to
include in my informative speech I expressed very well and went into a good amount of detail, however in some areas I could have given a more
in–depth explanation. One thing I could have improved on in regard to my content would have been giving more background information on serve
dogs, by including things like how long they have been around and the number of service dogs currently in the U.S. By doing this I would have added

Informative Essay About Bullying
Bullying is a type of behavior that hurts, humiliates or harms another person physically or emotionally. For instance, Take Josh. He was a 7th
grade student in a small town where his dad lives still to this day he was a boy with short golden hair. In his first year of middle school, kids
taunted him and spit on him in the hallways. It didn't occur to him to tell his parents or teachers. Finally, when a group of 20 kids threatened to beat
him up at the carwash the next day, he finally told his older brother, who in turn informed his parents. His dad looked up his main tormentor's phone
number in the phone book and told her dad to make his daughter stop or he'd contact the police. It worked. Josh's story is a story to tell others and
studies show that each year kids just like Josh are victims of bullying. Over 3.2 million school aged students are bullied each year according to https:/
/www.dosomething.org/us/facts/11–facts–about–bullying resulting in about 160,000 staying home from school because of it. 17% of American
students report being bullied 2 to 3 times a month or more within a school semester. Josh was bullied so badly in the worst ways and he decided to
tell and it changed his life, you can make the decision to tell yourself or let others, but don't just sit there and let the bullies be mean, if josh wouldn't
have told his brother then josh would have had bruises all over his face after school. If you see someone getting bullied i suggest you tell someone it
will change someone's life.
There are several types of bullying. One form of bullying is verbal. People can be verbally bullied by name calling, insults, teasing, intimidation,
homophobic or racist remarks.
Another type of bullying is cyber bullying. People are cyber–bullied by being harassed online, cyberstalking, outing, and catfished. The terms outing
and Catfishing are not well–known but they are truly terrible. Outing is the public display or forwarding of personal communications such as text
messages, emails or instant messaging. If you don't know what Catfishing is, it is a person who fakes there age on an online account and tries luring
out young people, and many teens. There has been some others who have started talking sexualy

Anxiety And Informative Essay
If someone asked the question, "have you ever experienced anxiety", most will say yes, because occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. Some
people feel anxious when a situation transpires at their workplace, if they are about to take a test, or making important decisions that occurs in
everyday life. But if you suffer with anxiety disorders, it involves more than just a brief moment of worry or fear. The anxiety disorder that people

PTSD is a mental health condition that's triggered by a terrifying event – either experiencing it or witnessing it. If you or someone you know has

mood. Most of the time when you hear about PTSD, it is concerning the military, war, and soldiers. Some Veterans develop severe anxiety after a
trauma or a life–threatening experience such as, the veterans of the Vietnam war. These vets experience stressful life events everyday like the transition
from military to civilian life or difficult work situations. These situations can cause them to have anxiety disorders. There have been numerous studies
of post–traumatic stress disorder in trauma victims, war veterans, and residents of communities exposed to disaster. Epidemiologic studies of this

Perseverance Essay
What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice
one is willing to make in the name of success. As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The goal
and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all
efforts to succeed.
We are high school students and that means that the sense of urgency to strive for and to achieve personal success is now. With this urgency comes
the expectation of having to persevere. This year has not been as easy one for us as a school body. We have been

There is no shame in falling; the shame is in accepting the the fall as defeat. Nelson Mandella once said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never
falling, but in rising every time you fall." That is the essence of persevering––finding the will to get up even though you know you are being counted
out.
Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it to school. But you find it within yourself to do
because the hope of a better tomorrow compels you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake
you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the bus, you are one step closer to realizing your
dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all things
are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the steps you take today. I had a neighbor whose parents were
divorced, but it seems like both parents divorced her. Her mother had custody, but she was seldom around. My friend raised herself. She gave a whole
new meaning to the phrase "putting yourself through school", but she was in middle school. However, she had a dream of something better and it was
evident that it required self–motivation and determination.

The Informative Essay: The Sport Of Lacrosse
Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the
ball into the goal. The sport is governed by the Federation of International Lacrosse; the most prominent international competition is the WorldLacrosse
Championship, which has been dominated by the United States. The sport has four versions that have different sticks, fields, rules and equipment:
field lacrosse, women's lacrosse, box lacrosse and intercrosse. The men's games, field lacrosse (outdoor) and box lacrosse (indoor), are contact sports
and all players wear protective gear: helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, and elbow pads. The women's game does not allow body contact but does allow
stick to stick contact. The only protective gear required for women players is eyegear, while goalies wear helmets and protective pads. Intercrosse is a
mixed–gender non–contact sport that uses an all–plastic stick and a softer ball. Field lacrosse is the men's outdoor version of the sport. There are ten
players on each team: three attackmen, three midfielders, three defensemen, and one goalie. Each player carries a lacrosse stick. A short stick
measures between 40 and 42 inches (about 1 meter) long and is used by attackmen and midfielders.

Informative Speech
Do Choose the proper language for the situation The first thing that is an important part of delivering any speech is the language that one chooses
to use. On page 164 the book says that this does not just mean ensuring that the grammar is correct but choosing the words, phrases, and oratory
devices best suited to the ideas being conveyed. The proper implementation of specific or concrete words can change a speech from an unfocused
generalization to an informative and focused presentation. One example of such specificity in helping clarify a speech is when discussing how
prevalent adult ADHD is instead of merely saying the statistic (2.5%) to actually explained how many people that would be worldwide. This would
help by giving the listener some context of the sheer number of people that I was discussing rather than a vague idea based on an unrelatable
percentage. While giving specifics is also important in making the audience properly understand the presentation, one must also ensure that one uses
the proper language to convey an idea. For example, when giving a fact–heavy speech it is better to use neutral words and attempt to minimize
metaphors and other flowery language as that will detract from the objective tone necessary in delivering an informative speech. When dealing with an
emotional topic, however, it would be advisable to include emotional language and imagery. In this situation, the emotional language does not detract
from the speech as not

As the world evolves and changes due to the explosion of technology, so does mankind's ways of intellectual comprehension of informative news. The
present day of news has overemphasized the meaning of fake news; which represents any form of false information that is illustrated as factual news.
That tends to spread throughout the internet and the media. Misinformed news has taken over the world in so many ways, such as the birth of satirical

Many news outlets rely on publishing sources of news that is satire. Satire utilizes on humor, irony, or exaggeration to uncover or highlight issues. One

"designed to fool people into believing something that is not true" (Fake, Par. E). In today's world, false news is created with a specific purpose.
People are being victims and are unable to comprehend the irony of satire in websites. For an example, in the article recent Change.org petition
Psychologist Dannagal Young states, "Allow open carry of Firearms at the Quicken Loans Arena during the RNC convention" (Fake, Par. N). Many

Informative Essay On Critical Thinking Skills
Critical thinking skills are essential to the adult learner. Since this is a writing based program, adopting a creative mindset helps facilitate critical
thinking skills. Attending an online program requires the student to research the weekly assignment individually. Without the typical classroom
environment, each student must determine what the writing assignment requirements are and how to relay the information in an informative essay.
Critical thinking skills and effective writing are essential to succeed in higher education (Varelas, A., Wolfe, K. S., & Lalongo, E., 2015).
Critical thinking skills are determined by how the individual clarifies, analyzes, evaluates, and extends the argument (Loes, C. C., Salisbury, M., M., &
Pascarella, E., E., 2015). After reading the required assignment and journal articles, the adult learner will analyze the material for a better

An expository essay, thus, is a piece of writing that explains or informs. It is meant to be based on fact and free of the writer's prejudices. Opinion is often expressed, but only if it is backed by fact. For example, if someone asked you to write an essay on the causes of World War II, you might write about Germany's losses in World War I, the Treaty of Versailles, the fall of the Weimar Republic and the rise of Hitler led Nazism. In other words, everything would be based on verifiable fact – an expository essay. The expository writing process is centered on four activities: Generate a rough idea or hypothesis. Similarly, it could be used to describe a person, place, or procedure. All in all, it is used in order to help the audience build an understanding of something. This does not entail the speaker to try to persuade individuals of this but, better yet, inform them. When delivering informative speeches, there are three vital characteristics that allow the speaker to reinforce their point and the audience to obtain the information more clearly. These characteristics include: effective openings, notable transitions, and some other device that captivates the imagination and attention of the audience. Furthermore, his approach kinesthetic approach and lack of a script were also tremendously unique. I believe that the fact that he is a member of the bowling team and he could so smoothly deliver that speech gave him much credibility. This is a very crucial element when giving an informative speech because it shows you are knowledgeable about the subject and know what you are talking about. Together with the physical demonstrations, Adam did a successful job of catching my attention and learning how to properly throw a bowling Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. The effects of social media on human behavior: An Informative Essay Communication varied in form and method since the beginning of civilization. However, since technology was used for the exchange of information, many different technological platforms were created and this has had an effect on communication itself. For example, social media revolutionized human communication in an irrevocable way. In the 21st century, social media is playing an important role in our community. Through social media we communicate, we share, we have fun and we can even work every day with people all around the world. But, as social media is growing and becoming essential, the only thing we started caring about is likes, followers, showing off, and feeding our virtual life, even if it's fake. This topic seems relevant and highly important in a time where technology is becoming essential and vital for our everyday life. Social media serves as a way of exposing people's day to day events, even the most trivial ones, and we have come to a point where this obsession for posting everything has exceeded any type of existent limit flirting with the line that distinguishes social media as an art and a vice. To what extent is this addiction carrying humanity in the right direction? The effects of social media are mainly affecting kids, teens and young adults. Over the last years, we became aware of the consequences and problems the use of social media brings. For example, cyberbullying is a main issue as people may take advantage of being behind a screen to say things they would not say in person. Moreover, social media may be seen as a waste of time because we tend to spend the whole day using these platforms instead of make the most of our time. In fact, sitting down all day is not healthy and it may bring severe future problems such as diabetes and obesity. Furthermore, with social media we can even learn other's life story and the things they like by looking at their profiles. This may be dangerous as people with evil intentions have access to this information too. People believe and know social media has both, positive and negative effects on human behavior. In order to prove this, I asked my classmates whether social media has Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In addition to the three methods, there are several ways you can organize an informative essay that provides a definition. The most important thing is to present them in a logical order that makes sense, and there's not one method that's best in every case. • 8. Persuasive Informative Essay Just the right splash of color of paint can help you get more money for your home, however, thousands of colors to choose from can be overwhelming. On the other hand, what if the color swatches were not organized by the brand of paint along with the paint colors not flowing together to see the different shading of reds, blues, yellows, etc.? What if we only knew words from elementary and we had intelligent people using strong words that we have never heard of before? Organization is an important element for life. Without it, life would be a crazy unorganized mess. For example, when explaining how making a quilt you would not start on the sewing machine, you would start by picking out the material you would want to make the quilt out of along with the pattern you want the quilt to look like. It is starting from the beginning and working your way to the end. Therefore, you will understand how to make a quilt by doing it in spatial order. It is important when giving a speech for it to be organized and easily understood. For one, it will make your speech go smoother, second, people will understand you better and third it builds trust. If you are going to inform or persuade your audience that you do not have to go out of the country to see clear blue ocean water. • 9. Speech : A Reflection Of An Informative Speech Informative Speech Reflection Paper After giving and analyzing my informative speech I learned many new things that will help me in my future speeches. Looking at the aspects of content, delivery, and organization I have learned by gibing this speech and being in this class how to better come across to my audience to make my topic as clear and as informative as I can. This assignment has helped me gain a better understanding of my topic, but also has helped me gain further knowledge on writing and giving my speech to an audience, along with opened my eyes to improvements I need to make in my future speeches. I have learned many new techniques and aspects to include in my speeches to make my future speeches better. Content is a very important part of an informative speech. I focused a lot on having strong points in my informative speech. I focused on discussing the types of service dogs, and the qualifications to have a service dog, along with the training a service dog undergoes. My main points I chose to include in my informative speech I expressed very well and went into a good amount of detail, however in some areas I could have given a more in–depth explanation. One thing I could have improved on in regard to my content would have been giving more background information on serve dogs, by including things like how long they have been around and the number of service dogs currently in the U.S. By doing this I would have added not only more content to my speech, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

He was a 7th grade student in a small town where his dad lives still to this day he was a boy with short golden hair. In his first year of middle school, kids taunted him and spit on him in the hallways. It didn't occur to him to tell his parents or teachers. Finally, when a group of 20 kids threatened to beat him up at the carwash the next day, he finally told his older brother, who in turn informed his parents. His dad looked up his main tormentor's phone number in the phone book and told her dad to make his daughter stop or he'd contact the police. It worked. If you see someone getting bullied i suggest you tell someone it will change someone's life. There are several types of bullying. One form of bullying is verbal. People can be verbally bullied by name calling, insults, teasing, intimidation, homophobic or racist remarks. Another type of bullying is cyber bullying. • 12. Perseverance Essay What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice one is willing to make in the name of success. As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The goal and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all efforts to succeed. Nelson Mandella once said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall." That is the essence of persevering––finding the will to get up even though you know you are being counted out. Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it to school. But you find it within yourself to do because the hope of a better tomorrow compels you to do so. • 13. The Informative Essay: The Sport Of Lacrosse Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. The sport is governed by the Federation of International Lacrosse; the most prominent international competition is the WorldLacrosse Championship, which has been dominated by the United States. The sport has four versions that have different sticks, fields, rules and equipment: field lacrosse, women's lacrosse, box lacrosse and intercrosse. The men's games, field lacrosse (outdoor) and box lacrosse (indoor), are contact sports and all players wear protective gear: helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, and elbow pads. The women's game does not allow body contact but does allow stick to stick contact. The only protective gear required for women players is eyegear, while goalies wear helmets and protective pads. Intercrosse is a mixed–gender non–contact sport that uses an all–plastic stick and a softer ball. Field lacrosse is the men's outdoor version of the sport. There are ten players on each team: three attackmen, three midfielders, three defensemen, and one goalie. Each player carries a lacrosse stick. A short stick measures between 40 and 42 inches (about 1 meter) long and is used by attackmen and midfielders. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The proper implementation of specific or concrete words can change a speech from an unfocused generalization to an informative and focused presentation. One example of such specificity in helping clarify a speech is when discussing how prevalent adult ADHD is instead of merely saying the statistic (2.5%) to actually explained how many people that would be worldwide. This would help by giving the listener some context of the sheer number of people that I was discussing rather than a vague idea based on an unrelatable percentage. While giving specifics is also important in making the audience properly understand the presentation, one must also ensure that one uses the proper language to convey an idea. For example, when giving a fact–heavy speech it is better to use neutral words and attempt to minimize metaphors and other flowery language as that will detract from the objective tone necessary in delivering an informative speech. When dealing with an emotional topic, however, it would be advisable to include emotional language and imagery. In this situation, the emotional language does not detract from the speech as not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
