Persuasive Essay On Lockers
"It has been found that kids backpacks on average exceed 10% of their body weight"[1] . Having school lockers is important for the safety of the
student's back. We have to carry our books, lunch, P. E. clothes/shoes, and anything else that might be in our bag. This is hard on our backs and
bodies. If only we had a place to put our backpacks besides the floor, and then lugging it to and from every class. This is not efficient and sets us up for
lost items, even I have lost a pair of shoes. Having lockers will help students keep track of their belongings and keep them safe.
If money is the issue, there are low–budget lockers or cubby systems available for purchase. Once the school chooses a locker/cubby they like, then we
can have a school wide fundraiser for the money we need. We might even find a parent...show more content...
It will also help encourage respect for other people's property. Because the lockers belong to the school, the students have to obey the locker rules and
learn that the lockers are a privilege not a right.
A negative effect of having lockers is that if one locker has something smelly in it then all the other lockers will smell too. If the lockers smell,
insects will have a new home and bacteria will grow. One way to make sure that doesn't happen, is to have a cleaning day once a week. Where the
school provides Lysol wipes, trash bins, and other cleaning products so the students can clean out their locker.
In conclusion, I think it would be a great idea to have lockers in our school. The overall benefits outweigh the cons of having school lockers. This
would be a great idea for the leadership class to head up. It gives them extra hours of research that they would need to complete their course
requirements for the leadership class, and takes the burden of this off of the

Throughout every year in middle school, I noticed that my writing skills have improved dramatically. Starting middle school I feared that I wouldn't
create good enough stories or writings for my grades. Eventually as I started to write and get feedback, I knew that I was becoming a better writer.
Some of my strengths now are developing a claim, analysis writing, making it organized, and transitions. Although, I need to spend more time
proofreading and my approach to writing. As a writer, I have learned that there is always room for improvement. I feel like I need to improve
proofreading and my approach to writing. When I am given a writing assignment, I have a hard time of knowing where to start and when I am done
with my paper, I don't really read over it as a whole that much. In order to , I need to make my approach to writing and proofreading better. On the
other hand, I am better at revising and organizing...show more content...
In my writing assignments, I found that I am good at organizing my thoughts and notes in an appropriate way, also going back and revising my
mistakes along the way. In my future writing assignments, my goal is to make sure that I know how to start my writing properly and taking extra time
to proofread the whole assignment. In middle school I have written a lot of different writings like argument, narrative, and analysis. My argument
writings are good, but they could have been better. For example, the gun debate and safe schools writing, I wrote, "Arming teachers is a terrible
strategy for decreasing the amount of school shootings. Instead, there should be stricter gun laws to prevent school shootings. Having metal detectors,
bullet proof windows and doors, and stricter

Social Issues In Middle Schools Essay
The middle school at Great Lakes Academy is comprised of grades 6th through 8th and currently has a total student enrollment of 37. The population
comprises of four female students and 33 male students. The disproportion of male students to female students is directly related to the learning
differences that have been identified in the current student population.
At times the shortage of female students can prove to be difficult when educating middle school students. In middle school, some students are beginning
to show interest in their peers of the opposite gender. The social issues that effects teens today become much more apparent in a small school setting.
Teachers must be aware of the social issues that the students are struggling with and make adjustments to the instruction. For instance, peer grouping
may be difficult when students are not getting along with a particular student because of a break–up or new relationship that formed over the weekend.
Once students reach middle school parents tend to reduce communication with their child's teacher. However, the opposite occurs at the middle school
of Great Lakes Academy. Parent teacher communication continues to remain strong. Parents frequently ask what they can do at home to help their
child. The strong parent teacher communication allows for the teacher to assign assignments to be...show more content...

Argumentative Essay On Middle School
As a typical All American twelve year old girl, Mallory Grossman participated in gymnastics, cheerleading, and made jewelry by hand to help raise
money for children with cancer. Mallory was known to be a good student and popular within her group of friends. On June 14, 2017, Mallory
committed suicide. This was the day her mother would not get to hug her child anymore, the day her smile would no longer be seen, the day her
classmates lost a friend. No one saw this coming, because Mallory seemed a cheerful, untroubled girl who had a bright future ahead of her. The only
problem was the relentless bullying that came her way through the use of social media outlets such as snapchat or instagram. Some girls in her middle
school used Snapchats features

Essay on School Safety: Protecting the Students
School Safety: Protecting the Students
For many students a positive academic environment is increasingly harder to obtain. This is mainly due to their lack of safety. Whether it be inside the
classroom or out.
Unfavorable situations at home, psychological stability, physical dangers and violence all contribute to this evident shortage. There have been
investigations on how organizations, teachers and parents collaborate together in today's society to influence the students understanding of safety in
school. The purpose of this paper is to display some examples of each aforementioned contribution and show some of the current measures being taken
to aid today's students.
Developments within the past decade have opened up new ways...show more content...
And with not caring about safety, leads to not caring of academics. As stated in the NEA article, This positive academic environment begins with safe
families and safe communities, statistically, schools continue to be one of the most secure places for our children. When that is taken away from a
student, they have no drive anymore to follow through with their education. A lot of the time weaponry is involved. Children find guns in parent's
drawers, or just while they are playing at their friend's house. Older brothers and sisters who might be involved in gangs might have weapons lying
around or even feel its cool to show off to their younger siblings and their friends.
However, some of the worst violence is not weaponry. It is the harassment from student to student. Psychological stability is a big issue today when it
comes to safety. Peer pressure has left children feeling the need to concentrate more on the popular things to do, then what is best for the student; an
education. In fact, Hazler, Hoover, and Oliver (1996) reported that three–fourths of the school students they surveyed indicated that they experienced
harassment and bullying to such an extent that they suffered academic, personal, and social difficulties (Hernandez). Bullying can impact a child when
it comes to learning. Having someone of the same age, belittle, embarrass, and put a child down, most of the time leads the child to

Elementary School Vs Middle School Essay
Many people wonder what the difference between elementary school and middle school is. Middle school is usually between grades 6–8 depending on
the part of country you are in, and elementary school is typically grades k–5. This being my final year of middle school I know what is similar, and
different between them. When you transition from elementary school to middle school, you will notice there are many things that do not change
between them. For example they both have time slots where you have a chance to eat breakfast before school begins. Another that you will find the
same is that they both have places where you can put your backpacks where they are safe, and will not be stolen. Even though you you are in middle
school you...show more content...
For example you will have many different teachers throughout the day, and be in many different classrooms throughout the day. Another thing
that is different is that before gym class you are going to have to change into gym clothes, instead of your regular ones, other wise you will get
docked points, and end up failing the class. Also once you start middle school you will quickly find out the days are longer than what they used t
be in elementary school. In middle school you have the option of tacking Ban or Choir, and if you do not choose either of the two you will be
places in a study hall. Study hall is a time where you get to do homework durning school, rather than doing it at your house. The biggest difference is
that you will have sports practice after school, and if you fail to get good grades, which is anything lower than a C – you will have to sit out until you
get your grade back to passing. Even though middle school is grades 6–8, and elementary school is grades k–5 there is many things that they do the
same, and somethings that they do different. So if you think that they are really different, stop and think about all the similarities that there

Argumentative Reflection
Argumentative Essay Reflection One of my central struggles throughout high school has been writing essays and reports for all classes not just
english. I was a little worried when I signed up to take this course, since it counted as a college credit. Even though I was worried about taking this
course, but I am thankful that I did. The main reason behind my decision to take this course is because I thought it would better prepare me for college.
This argumentative essay was one of the hardest essay that I have written. I have never written in this style before this essay. Even though, I have
never been the best writer, I have always got good grades. After receiving my first rough draft I knew this class was not going to be easy. The part

One of the areas of my writing where I was struggling in using my voice. Granite, there were parts of my essay where I successfully integrated
quotes within my voice, but for the most part that was my weakest area. For example of one of my better integrated quotes, in my third paragraph
when I say, "Today, consumers rely on social media for everything, whether it is communicating with old friends, finding new friends, shopping,
researching, and staying informed with the latest news. Daniel adds that, "'Americans who take part in political activities on social networking
sites also tend to be highly active in other areas of political or civic life'" (29), which insinuates that people rely on social media more today than we
have in the past". This was one of my better examples because I further explain and analyze the quote in my voice instead of just ending the
sentence after the quote. One of my poor examples is, "Many people who suffer from depression care a lot about what others think about them.
That is why many of those people tend to turn to social media as an outlet to express their feelings". I made a bold statement and did not back up
what I said with my voice I just ended that sentence and moved on. Instead of moving on I should have explained it further and told them why people
tend to turn to social media to express their feelings. One of the areas of my writing where I was

Argumentative Essay: Does School Start Too Early?
Madeline Crouch

Does School start too early?
Many students can admit that they have fallen asleep at least once during a class. It is not the student's fault as to why they fall asleep in class, it is the
early school start times that causes students to fall asleep on their desks during class. Recent studies have shown that more than half of students get less
than eight hours of sleep which is the recommended amount of sleep. School start times contribute to sleep deprivation, car crashes, and lower test
results and overall grades.
Studies have shown that many students blame their sleep deprivation on the early school start times, they are not wrong. Students are supposed to
receive at least 8 hours of sleep each night; however, most teens only average around seven or less hours of sleep as seen in the graph below from
(wake up calls)....show more content...
School start times have a great effect on student sleep deprivation because the early times throw off the student's circadian clock also known as the
internal body rhythm. The circadian clock secretes a hormone called melatonin that helps teens sleep (Ornes). Melatonin is active until approximately
8:30am where as many school start earlier than that at around 7:15am.
School start times not only impact a student's sleep cycle, but they also impact the number of early morning car accidents. Students who are sleep
deprived that drive to school face a huge risk of getting into a car crash that early in the morning. Studies show that "when high schools in Fayette
County, Kentucky, changed their start times from 7:30a.m. to 8:30a.m., teen car crash rates dropped by more than sixteen percent." (Discovery).
Moving start times back in other counties and states will decrease the numbers of teen car

Argumentative Essay On School Start Time
Every morning students in the United States feel the effects the early start time many schools have implemented. These students are lethargic and
inattentive, due to the lack of sleep they are getting every night. Typically, adults see these characteristics as the result of teenagers staying up late
watching Netflix or using their cell phones. Many reputable organizations, such as the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of
Pediatrics, have researched this problem and found that teenagers are lacking in sleep due to biological and physiological changes that are occurring
within their brains. These shifts cause students to be more inattentive and reckless, resulting in lower grades, tardiness, and higher rates of car...show

By requiring teenagers to wake up early, school officials are basically neglecting the health of their student bodies in favor of making their lives
simpler. Despite the overwhelming evidence given by current research, many people refuse to change school start times because of the lack of
noticeable impact some schools had or the impact it had on some people's schedules. Pannoni cites a statement by the Iowa City Community School
District which found that "the later start time . . . [did] not reduce the number of tardy students by any appreciable amount." The principal of Ballard
High School agreed by saying that he "would be surprised to see large improvements in either attendance or grade data compared with past years"
(Pannoni). Many schools refused to change because of how the later start and dismissal times would affect extracurricular activities and students with
jobs. This change would also interfere with bus schedules and childcare habits. However, these seem like small problems that can be overcome when
the results are that "later school start times were associated with students sleeping longer at night, less tardiness, having higher test scores, being less
depressed, using less caffeine and other drugs, . . . and experiencing fewer morning car crashes" (Fenwick). The most compelling evidence that shows
changing school start

Essay On Bullying In Middle School
Unfortunately, bullying is very common during the elementary and middle school years. In one study of 4th – 6th graders, 25% of students admitted to
bullying another student several times or more often during the school term. Another study found that 80% of middle school students reported
engaging in some form of bullying during the past 30 days; with 15% doing so frequently. In a national study of more than 15,000 students in grades 6
through 10, 17% reported having been bullied "sometimes" or more often during the school term, and 19% reported bullying others "sometimes" or

Argumentative Essay About Recess
Recess can help students with "physical and emotional safety at school; positive relationships with peers and adults," says (Stanford ).Recess is find
in kindergarten and fifth grade or not at all. Recess can be from one to 15 minutes may be more depense on the school. Physical education and recess

Recess creates a place to create relationships with other students and adults, states stanford. "Recess children learn valuable communication skills" says
American Academy of Pediatrics. What this show is recess benefits the students in social skills.
Lastly recess gives exercise for students. Students are able to play for fun and work physical with other kids stated stanford. Recess gives student
time to practice all physical movement at their own free will according American Academy of Pediatrics. As a result recess physical benefits the kid
from exercise.
Others protest that recess is a waste of time where teacher can't teach. They think that time would be better used on instructions. Despite what
opponents say recess should be in school because students are more focused after recess. In addition, the down time allow students to be refreshed for
class. Therefore the time is better used for recess. In conclusion recess in middle school and high school benefits students with class work,
commutation, and physically. Recess is good for the students to learn and talk to other students. Support recess by telling the school board to add
recess to all

Argumentative Essay On Dress Codes
It is of no possible argument that some of the most valuable and lasting ideas of life and the world around us are taught and learned at school. Hard
work does you well. Cheaters never prosper. Education is the key to success. Girls bodies are a distraction and objects to be inevitably sexualized and
harassed. This may sound over exaggerated, but this is the message beings sent to millions of students near and far by the sexist, self–esteem
demolishing, unfocused dress codes in schools today. This said, dress codes in schools create a negative environment, putting the focus on the wrong
things and ideas, both promoting rape culture and a strong sense of sexism. In this day, children can often feel as though they are at a loss of ways to
express themselves. With the heavy burden of societal standards, clothes are one of the only "acceptable" ways students have left to express
themselves with. The biggest and most relevant example of this today is Transgender and LGBT students, or those who identify with a differentgender
than the one they were legally born into. As said in The Movement Against Sexist and Discriminatory School Dress Codes, "Meanwhile, gender
nonconforming and transgender students have also clashed with such policies on the grounds that they rigidly dictate how kids express their identities.
Transgender students have been sent home for wearing clothing different than what's expected of their legal sex." This said, they way one dresses can
extremely affect

about the earth and the environment.

Essay About Middle School
Middle school was a lot of fun for me, I met a lot of new people and lots of new girls. It was also kinda tough in the beginning with switching classes
and things and having so many different teachers and lots of homework from different classes and having to remember the room numbers of each class
but eventually I got used to everything. My first day in middle school didn't seem that much different than elementary school only thing that was
different was that we switched classes but we had our teachers telling us where to go for our next classes so it wasn't hard. On like the third day of
middle school I was very confused because we had all the big 7th and 8th graders there and the teachers weren't helping us and telling bus where to
go anymore so I would be late to class and my teachers would be mad. It was hard for me to transition to having several teachers instead of one
because all of my teachers were very different we had some teachers that were cool and then we had some strict teachers. The work didn't get much

performance in track and football I wasn't as fast anymore I sometimes couldn't run because it would hurt so bad.
Middle school was very fun though and it matured me a lot for high school I also learned a lot of things in middle school that have helped me in

Middle school was a rough time like it was for many because I still did not even know who I was yet. MIddle school was very difficult to adjust to at
first because all my life I had only been in one class all day everyday with the same teacher and they made sure you always had a note to remind you of
your homework for the night. Middle school was when I began to make my own choices and had to suffer the consequences that came with those
choices. In middle school is when I found out how much I liked business because of a field trip my 6th grade year to Biztown which was a small
fake "community" that everyone worked in and would be a citizen in the town. Not all of middle school was good though because during this time is

Sexual thoughts pop in and out of most people's mind, but especially teenagers, and there's nothing they can do about it. It is normal for teenage boys
and girls to experience this, more than ever when they are hitting puberty. The hormones in the body begin to act up and teenagerswant to experience
other things on their own. Males begin to grow pubic and facial hairs, and their voice starts to deepen, while girls' breasts begin to develop and their
body begins to take shape. After hitting puberty, teenagers are now at the point where they want to experience things. ‚Don't go out there and get

When I was only 11 years old, my male friends would ask me if I have ever masturbated. I had no idea what it was and quite frankly I was not really
interested. It was the in thing to say that a guy was weird if he did not masturbate. Because of the continued conversations on this topic and finally
felt the urge to step in and ask what it was. One of the guys mentioned everything about it, and that he had gone on to a specific website to find that
out. Of course, it was foreign to me because never did I hear that term in my life. My friend had not heard it either, so he went online to research for
himself. Yes, I understand that things such as that are difficult to commute to a young child, but it is better to inform children at a younger age,
because then their minds will believe what is heard. Children do what their parents do and say, so if parents informed their child at a young age, they
would probably not want to rummage around for explicit material on their own. He even went on to say things about imagining things about girls,
which he called: ‚dirteh tinking.‛ Lust of the mind is something ever teenager has experienced or will experience. They will have an attraction
to the opposite sex some time in their life. However, if parents would only take the time to mention the crucial issues, and the effects, teens would
probably hate it in their minds. Joseph Knable, Sex and the Single Guy author, states that "If we tolerate lust, we give sin a foot in the door and

Persuasive Essay About Middle School

  • 1. Persuasive Essay About Middle School Most middle school students are looking forward to high svhool .Middle school students have many general ideas about how high school would be like.School has many good things that most students want to experience ,yet new things can be scary. Many middle school students are looking forward to high school. Most are looking forward to graduate and get a scholarship, but others are waiting to make new friends and to meet new teachers.Unfortunately, most students don't want to have a good life and not graduate.Students are looking up for getting their driver's license and drive to school.High school is mostly about sports. Most students are looking up to play stuff like baseball, football, and soccer. Many students will have lots of stuff Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Lockers "It has been found that kids backpacks on average exceed 10% of their body weight"[1] . Having school lockers is important for the safety of the student's back. We have to carry our books, lunch, P. E. clothes/shoes, and anything else that might be in our bag. This is hard on our backs and bodies. If only we had a place to put our backpacks besides the floor, and then lugging it to and from every class. This is not efficient and sets us up for lost items, even I have lost a pair of shoes. Having lockers will help students keep track of their belongings and keep them safe. If money is the issue, there are low–budget lockers or cubby systems available for purchase. Once the school chooses a locker/cubby they like, then we can have a school wide fundraiser for the money we need. We might even find a parent...show more content... It will also help encourage respect for other people's property. Because the lockers belong to the school, the students have to obey the locker rules and learn that the lockers are a privilege not a right. A negative effect of having lockers is that if one locker has something smelly in it then all the other lockers will smell too. If the lockers smell, insects will have a new home and bacteria will grow. One way to make sure that doesn't happen, is to have a cleaning day once a week. Where the school provides Lysol wipes, trash bins, and other cleaning products so the students can clean out their locker. In conclusion, I think it would be a great idea to have lockers in our school. The overall benefits outweigh the cons of having school lockers. This would be a great idea for the leadership class to head up. It gives them extra hours of research that they would need to complete their course requirements for the leadership class, and takes the burden of this off of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Throughout every year in middle school, I noticed that my writing skills have improved dramatically. Starting middle school I feared that I wouldn't create good enough stories or writings for my grades. Eventually as I started to write and get feedback, I knew that I was becoming a better writer. Some of my strengths now are developing a claim, analysis writing, making it organized, and transitions. Although, I need to spend more time proofreading and my approach to writing. As a writer, I have learned that there is always room for improvement. I feel like I need to improve proofreading and my approach to writing. When I am given a writing assignment, I have a hard time of knowing where to start and when I am done with my paper, I don't really read over it as a whole that much. In order to , I need to make my approach to writing and proofreading better. On the other hand, I am better at revising and organizing...show more content... In my writing assignments, I found that I am good at organizing my thoughts and notes in an appropriate way, also going back and revising my mistakes along the way. In my future writing assignments, my goal is to make sure that I know how to start my writing properly and taking extra time to proofread the whole assignment. In middle school I have written a lot of different writings like argument, narrative, and analysis. My argument writings are good, but they could have been better. For example, the gun debate and safe schools writing, I wrote, "Arming teachers is a terrible strategy for decreasing the amount of school shootings. Instead, there should be stricter gun laws to prevent school shootings. Having metal detectors, bullet proof windows and doors, and stricter Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Social Issues In Middle Schools Essay The middle school at Great Lakes Academy is comprised of grades 6th through 8th and currently has a total student enrollment of 37. The population comprises of four female students and 33 male students. The disproportion of male students to female students is directly related to the learning differences that have been identified in the current student population. At times the shortage of female students can prove to be difficult when educating middle school students. In middle school, some students are beginning to show interest in their peers of the opposite gender. The social issues that effects teens today become much more apparent in a small school setting. Teachers must be aware of the social issues that the students are struggling with and make adjustments to the instruction. For instance, peer grouping may be difficult when students are not getting along with a particular student because of a break–up or new relationship that formed over the weekend. Once students reach middle school parents tend to reduce communication with their child's teacher. However, the opposite occurs at the middle school of Great Lakes Academy. Parent teacher communication continues to remain strong. Parents frequently ask what they can do at home to help their child. The strong parent teacher communication allows for the teacher to assign assignments to be...show more content... Argumentative Essay On Middle School As a typical All American twelve year old girl, Mallory Grossman participated in gymnastics, cheerleading, and made jewelry by hand to help raise money for children with cancer. Mallory was known to be a good student and popular within her group of friends. On June 14, 2017, Mallory committed suicide. This was the day her mother would not get to hug her child anymore, the day her smile would no longer be seen, the day her classmates lost a friend. No one saw this coming, because Mallory seemed a cheerful, untroubled girl who had a bright future ahead of her. The only problem was the relentless bullying that came her way through the use of social media outlets such as snapchat or instagram. Some girls in her middle school used Snapchats features Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay on School Safety: Protecting the Students School Safety: Protecting the Students For many students a positive academic environment is increasingly harder to obtain. This is mainly due to their lack of safety. Whether it be inside the classroom or out. Unfavorable situations at home, psychological stability, physical dangers and violence all contribute to this evident shortage. There have been investigations on how organizations, teachers and parents collaborate together in today's society to influence the students understanding of safety in school. The purpose of this paper is to display some examples of each aforementioned contribution and show some of the current measures being taken to aid today's students. Developments within the past decade have opened up new ways...show more content... And with not caring about safety, leads to not caring of academics. As stated in the NEA article, This positive academic environment begins with safe families and safe communities, statistically, schools continue to be one of the most secure places for our children. When that is taken away from a student, they have no drive anymore to follow through with their education. A lot of the time weaponry is involved. Children find guns in parent's drawers, or just while they are playing at their friend's house. Older brothers and sisters who might be involved in gangs might have weapons lying around or even feel its cool to show off to their younger siblings and their friends. However, some of the worst violence is not weaponry. It is the harassment from student to student. Psychological stability is a big issue today when it comes to safety. Peer pressure has left children feeling the need to concentrate more on the popular things to do, then what is best for the student; an education. In fact, Hazler, Hoover, and Oliver (1996) reported that three–fourths of the school students they surveyed indicated that they experienced harassment and bullying to such an extent that they suffered academic, personal, and social difficulties (Hernandez). Bullying can impact a child when it comes to learning. Having someone of the same age, belittle, embarrass, and put a child down, most of the time leads the child to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Elementary School Vs Middle School Essay Many people wonder what the difference between elementary school and middle school is. Middle school is usually between grades 6–8 depending on the part of country you are in, and elementary school is typically grades k–5. This being my final year of middle school I know what is similar, and different between them. When you transition from elementary school to middle school, you will notice there are many things that do not change between them. For example they both have time slots where you have a chance to eat breakfast before school begins. Another that you will find the same is that they both have places where you can put your backpacks where they are safe, and will not be stolen. Even though you you are in middle school you...show more content... For example you will have many different teachers throughout the day, and be in many different classrooms throughout the day. Another thing that is different is that before gym class you are going to have to change into gym clothes, instead of your regular ones, other wise you will get docked points, and end up failing the class. Also once you start middle school you will quickly find out the days are longer than what they used t be in elementary school. In middle school you have the option of tacking Ban or Choir, and if you do not choose either of the two you will be places in a study hall. Study hall is a time where you get to do homework durning school, rather than doing it at your house. The biggest difference is that you will have sports practice after school, and if you fail to get good grades, which is anything lower than a C – you will have to sit out until you get your grade back to passing. Even though middle school is grades 6–8, and elementary school is grades k–5 there is many things that they do the same, and somethings that they do different. So if you think that they are really different, stop and think about all the similarities that there Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 10. Argumentative Reflection Argumentative Essay Reflection One of my central struggles throughout high school has been writing essays and reports for all classes not just english. I was a little worried when I signed up to take this course, since it counted as a college credit. Even though I was worried about taking this course, but I am thankful that I did. The main reason behind my decision to take this course is because I thought it would better prepare me for college. This argumentative essay was one of the hardest essay that I have written. I have never written in this style before this essay. Even though, I have never been the best writer, I have always got good grades. After receiving my first rough draft I knew this class was not going to be easy. The part ...show more content... One of the areas of my writing where I was struggling in using my voice. Granite, there were parts of my essay where I successfully integrated quotes within my voice, but for the most part that was my weakest area. For example of one of my better integrated quotes, in my third paragraph when I say, "Today, consumers rely on social media for everything, whether it is communicating with old friends, finding new friends, shopping, researching, and staying informed with the latest news. Daniel adds that, "'Americans who take part in political activities on social networking sites also tend to be highly active in other areas of political or civic life'" (29), which insinuates that people rely on social media more today than we have in the past". This was one of my better examples because I further explain and analyze the quote in my voice instead of just ending the sentence after the quote. One of my poor examples is, "Many people who suffer from depression care a lot about what others think about them. That is why many of those people tend to turn to social media as an outlet to express their feelings". I made a bold statement and did not back up what I said with my voice I just ended that sentence and moved on. Instead of moving on I should have explained it further and told them why people tend to turn to social media to express their feelings. • 11. Argumentative Essay: Does School Start Too Early? Madeline Crouch English 3 4 August 2015 Does School start too early? Many students can admit that they have fallen asleep at least once during a class. It is not the student's fault as to why they fall asleep in class, it is the early school start times that causes students to fall asleep on their desks during class. Recent studies have shown that more than half of students get less than eight hours of sleep which is the recommended amount of sleep. School start times contribute to sleep deprivation, car crashes, and lower test results and overall grades. Studies have shown that many students blame their sleep deprivation on the early school start times, they are not wrong. Students are supposed to receive at least 8 hours of sleep each night; however, most teens only average around seven or less hours of sleep as seen in the graph below from (wake up calls)....show more content... School start times have a great effect on student sleep deprivation because the early times throw off the student's circadian clock also known as the internal body rhythm. The circadian clock secretes a hormone called melatonin that helps teens sleep (Ornes). Melatonin is active until approximately 8:30am where as many school start earlier than that at around 7:15am. School start times not only impact a student's sleep cycle, but they also impact the number of early morning car accidents. Students who are sleep deprived that drive to school face a huge risk of getting into a car crash that early in the morning. Studies show that "when high schools in Fayette County, Kentucky, changed their start times from 7:30a.m. to 8:30a.m., teen car crash rates dropped by more than sixteen percent." (Discovery). Moving start times back in other counties and states will decrease the numbers of teen car Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Argumentative Essay On School Start Time Every morning students in the United States feel the effects the early start time many schools have implemented. These students are lethargic and inattentive, due to the lack of sleep they are getting every night. Typically, adults see these characteristics as the result of teenagers staying up late watching Netflix or using their cell phones. Many reputable organizations, such as the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics, have researched this problem and found that teenagers are lacking in sleep due to biological and physiological changes that are occurring within their brains. These shifts cause students to be more inattentive and reckless, resulting in lower grades, tardiness, and higher rates of car...show more content... By requiring teenagers to wake up early, school officials are basically neglecting the health of their student bodies in favor of making their lives simpler. Despite the overwhelming evidence given by current research, many people refuse to change school start times because of the lack of noticeable impact some schools had or the impact it had on some people's schedules. Pannoni cites a statement by the Iowa City Community School District which found that "the later start time . . . [did] not reduce the number of tardy students by any appreciable amount." The principal of Ballard High School agreed by saying that he "would be surprised to see large improvements in either attendance or grade data compared with past years" (Pannoni). Many schools refused to change because of how the later start and dismissal times would affect extracurricular activities and students with jobs. This change would also interfere with bus schedules and childcare habits. However, these seem like small problems that can be overcome when the results are that "later school start times were associated with students sleeping longer at night, less tardiness, having higher test scores, being less depressed, using less caffeine and other drugs, . . . and experiencing fewer morning car crashes" (Fenwick). The most compelling evidence that shows changing school start Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In one study of 4th – 6th graders, 25% of students admitted to bullying another student several times or more often during the school term. Another study found that 80% of middle school students reported engaging in some form of bullying during the past 30 days; with 15% doing so frequently. In a national study of more than 15,000 students in grades 6 through 10, 17% reported having been bullied "sometimes" or more often during the school term, and 19% reported bullying others "sometimes" or more Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 15. Argumentative Essay On Dress Codes It is of no possible argument that some of the most valuable and lasting ideas of life and the world around us are taught and learned at school. Hard work does you well. Cheaters never prosper. Education is the key to success. Girls bodies are a distraction and objects to be inevitably sexualized and harassed. This may sound over exaggerated, but this is the message beings sent to millions of students near and far by the sexist, self–esteem demolishing, unfocused dress codes in schools today. This said, dress codes in schools create a negative environment, putting the focus on the wrong things and ideas, both promoting rape culture and a strong sense of sexism. In this day, children can often feel as though they are at a loss of ways to express themselves. With the heavy burden of societal standards, clothes are one of the only "acceptable" ways students have left to express themselves with. The biggest and most relevant example of this today is Transgender and LGBT students, or those who identify with a differentgender than the one they were legally born into. As said in The Movement Against Sexist and Discriminatory School Dress Codes, "Meanwhile, gender nonconforming and transgender students have also clashed with such policies on the grounds that they rigidly dictate how kids express their identities. Transgender students have been sent home for wearing clothing different than what's expected of their legal sex." • 17. Essay About Middle School Middle school was a lot of fun for me, I met a lot of new people and lots of new girls. It was also kinda tough in the beginning with switching classes and things and having so many different teachers and lots of homework from different classes and having to remember the room numbers of each class but eventually I got used to everything. My first day in middle school didn't seem that much different than elementary school only thing that was different was that we switched classes but we had our teachers telling us where to go for our next classes so it wasn't hard. On like the third day of middle school I was very confused because we had all the big 7th and 8th graders there and the teachers weren't helping us and telling bus where to go anymore so I would be late to class and my teachers would be mad. It was hard for me to transition to having several teachers instead of one because all of my teachers were very different we had some teachers that were cool and then we had some strict teachers. The work didn't get much harder math did but not any other subjects, math was very difficult...show more content... • 18. Middle School Argumentative Essay Middle school was a rough time like it was for many because I still did not even know who I was yet. MIddle school was very difficult to adjust to at first because all my life I had only been in one class all day everyday with the same teacher and they made sure you always had a note to remind you of your homework for the night. Middle school was when I began to make my own choices and had to suffer the consequences that came with those choices. In middle school is when I found out how much I liked business because of a field trip my 6th grade year to Biztown which was a small fake "community" that everyone worked in and would be a citizen in the town. Not all of middle school was good though because during this time is when I realized how Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It is normal for teenage boys and girls to experience this, more than ever when they are hitting puberty. The hormones in the body begin to act up and teenagerswant to experience other things on their own. Males begin to grow pubic and facial hairs, and their voice starts to deepen, while girls' breasts begin to develop and their body begins to take shape. When I was only 11 years old, my male friends would ask me if I have ever masturbated. I had no idea what it was and quite frankly I was not really interested. It was the in thing to say that a guy was weird if he did not masturbate. Because of the continued conversations on this topic and finally felt the urge to step in and ask what it was. One of the guys mentioned everything about it, and that he had gone on to a specific website to find that out. Of course, it was foreign to me because never did I hear that term in my life. My friend had not heard it either, so he went online to research for himself. Yes, I understand that things such as that are difficult to commute to a young child, but it is better to inform children at a younger age, because then their minds will believe what is heard. Children do what their parents do and say, so if parents informed their child at a young age, they would probably not want to rummage around for explicit material on their own. He even went on to say things about imagining things about girls, which he called: ‚dirteh tinking.‛ Lust of the mind is something ever teenager has experienced or will experience. They will have an attraction to the opposite sex some time in their life. However, if parents would only take the time to mention the crucial issues, and the effects, teens would probably hate it in their minds.
