GUINNESS OPERATION MASTER BREWER
The Guinness Master Brewer will ensure that production, process and quality goals are
achieved. This position will work with Site Director to oversee brewing, packaging, maintenance,
quality assurance/quality control, production planning and purchasing. Ensuring a safe work
place, meeting production requirements and quality improvement targets will be of paramount
importance. The Guinness Master Brewer will be expected to provide senior level guidance and
support as we continue to grow and expand.
Job Responsibilities:
As a senior supply chain leader you are to work with Site Director to oversee all brewery
operations: Brewing, Packaging, Quality Assurance/ Quality Control, Purchasing, Planning and
Maintenance.
Duties
• With your Management Team, which includes department managers from the
aforementioned groups, develop and implement long and short-term goals. Collaborate on all
production activities and create production schedules to meet sales forecasts and demands.
• Using overall business strategy, develop operational goals and objectives for brewery
operations.
• Research and implement industry trends where applicable to improve and evolve operations.
• Promote the mission and values of the organization and ensure adherence by your teams
both internally and externally.
• Work with Finance to measure productivity and to achieve goals through sales, production,
activity reports and other performance data.
• Identify and rectify areas for cost reduction and production improvements.
• Assess equipment purchases and major expenditures to maximize benefit; seek appropriate
level approval.
• Develop and manage a progressive training program that is in line with training objectives.
• Working with the maintenance team, ensure a safe working environment for employees by
maintaining the facility and equipment.
• Enforce adherence to safe work practices as per Diageo standards and the HSE.
• Establish key metrics and then develop & implement plans to achieve production goals
through effective communication, always keeping profitability as a priority.
• Manage and oversee the budget for equipment purchases and other major expenditures.
Assist with assessing the facilities budget.
• Ensure team members have the right tools, knowledge and equipment required to do their
jobs effectively and safely.
• Support Company events (local or national) as required; liaise with marketing and sales
teams on a regular basis.
Brewing
• Work with the Senior Brewers and Head Brewer to ensure the following:
o Monitoring and continuous improvement to brewing operations in efficiency, cost
reduction and profitability.
o Development and improvement of existing standard operating procedures (as
required) and ensure they are being adhered to.
Packaging
• Work with the Packaging Manager to ensure the following:
o That customer/ sales demands are being met by the packaging team in coordination
with the Brewing, Planning and Purchasing teams.
o Maintain a commitment to high quality standards from bottling and canning to
distribution.
o Ensure that daily/weekly/brand based targets can be met.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control
• Work with the QA/QC Manager to ensure the following:
o Development of and review of quality reports/statistics to ensure consistency and
quality.
o Compliance standards are consistently met or exceeded.
o Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to, improved upon where applicable.
Maintenance
• Along with the Maintenance Manager:
o Ensure Brewing/Production areas are being properly maintained to excellent quality,
sanitation and safety standards.
o Oversee design, operation and improvement of brewery systems.
o Ensure strong preventative maintenance programs.
o Ensure on time progress of expansion projects.
o Work on cost saving measures and adherence to the budget.
