2. Front cover
For my cover, I wated something
simplistic and something that
represented architecture well. I
thought red and white we're good
colours to use as their the RIBA
colours. I started off using a drawing
off the internet to see how it layed
out on a whole, and I think it worked
well with the spacing etc, so I then
went on to use my own drawing
which I edited on photoshop using
levels and brightness to create a
more enhanced effect from the
original drawing itself, which is an
abstract realization of a shape.
3. I began my fanzine
with my introduction
page. I wanted this to
have a minimal effect
which works really
well. I used the red
text again to match
with this cover page,
so there was an on
going theme to start
with. I used the
blank background
and the line tool on
photoshop to create
this spacing within
the title and text. I
decided a simple
drawing would work
on this page that was
to the point and
worked with the
simple theme, so I
added one later on. I
also created a
contents page draft
and my photograph
page draft.
4. I am really pleased
with the layout for this
interview. I think the
spacing is all very
accurate and it looks
quite professional to
say I used no
guidelines. I created
this on photoshop and
chose a certain text and
copy and pasted the
text from a powerpoint,
as I had already wrote
the interview. I used
lines to separate texts
and images, so it was
all divided into
different parts.
5. Finished cover and first
copy of photographs. I
placed my own drawing
onto my cover which I
think actually works a lot
better than the existing
drawing off the internet, it
works as the image as it
curves into the background
and gives it an almost 3D
effect. The photographs are
taken by my Dad and I had
permission to use them, I
edited them by going onto
image, adjustments and
curves. This enhanced the
lighting and made the
images nicer to look at.
However I wasn’t that
happy with this page so
later on changed it, making
it look more professional
and original.
6. For my contents page, I
decided I wanted to write my
own text. I like the way it
looks hand drawn and slightly
messy/sketchy. I used the
levels tool to give it a bold
effect which I think it needed.
To do this I just scanned the
page and then opened it onto
photoshop, along with all my
other pages. However with
this specific page I kept the
notebook background as I
thought it was authentic. For
my introduction page I added
a drawing with ARCHITECT
in big letters as I think it
worked with the to the point
kind of theme which is basic
but draws the audience in as
its quite aesthetically pleasing.

8. For my second interview I
tried to do a different theme
but decided it looked better
using the same fonts and
sketch like drawings as my
other interview, as I didn’t
want it to look messy. I used
the line tool again to separate
text and images along with the
title. This seemed to work
really well for me and I'm glad
I used this spacing technique.
To say I didn't use guidelines I
think the interview pages look
accurately layed out.
9. With my absract stuff, I
wanted the pages to be
really full and colourful,
which the drawings are
however the
background is what I
struggled with. I gave
the pages a title with
the italic font, and
created a baby blue
background however I
didn’t like it and knew
it needed something
different. When I first
made the pages I didn’t
think my drawings
needed editing on
photoshop however
later on when I did they
really improved.
10. With my london drawings, I decided they didn’t
need much editing or a colourful background, I
just placed them onto the page and put the
levels and exposure up a bit so they were more
vibrant and eye catching.
11. This is my finished
abstract pages. I used
the filter gallery effect
on photoshop, and used
'cut out' which created
this cut out effect of my
drawings which you can
see on the background,
which I then enlarged
and changed the levels
abit. I think this works
really well as it blends
in with the drawings
but looks completely
different to what the
drawings originally
looked like, so I think
it’s a clever way of
creating a theme that
all blends together
without it being all the
same. I also edited my
drawings with the cut
out tool which looks
