Call for Papers and Workshops
1 – 3 November, 2016 Telford, united kingdom
TheInternationalWaterAssociationandtheorganisersofWWEM,theInternationalWater,Wastewater&EnvironmentalMonitoring
Conference, have the pleasure to announce a Call for Papers, Posters and Workshops for the 3rd
IWA New Developments in
IT & Water Conference which will be held in conjunction with the Water, Wastewater & Environmental Monitoring Conference
in the UK this November.
The use of instrumentation, data, modelling and process control has become an essential part of the modern water industry as
we face greater demands from environmental to financial. Addressing challenges ranging from population growth to climate
change to improved environmental quality has meant that the water industry has had to provide an enhanced service for less.
The development of a more efficient service has been, at least in part, addressed by improved technology in IT & Water. It has,
though, brought challenges in areas such as cyber security and opportunities in areas such as the Internet of Things, Cloud
Computing & Sofware as a Service.
Session Themes
In this 3rd
edition of the New Developments in IT & Water the organising committee is particularly interested in receiving papers
within the following session themes
Modelling & Control (Potable Water Systems) Modelling & Control (Wastewater Systems)
Big Data & Small Information Data Handling & Information Visualisation
Software as a Service & Cloud Computing Internet of Things
Cyber Security Innovations in IT & Water
Hydroinformatics Decision Support Systems
Communications Protocols Network Control Systems
The organising committee are also open to proposals for both workshops and poster sessions. Selected papers will be peer
reviewed and will potentially be published in Water Science & Technology.

2. Conference & Venue
The 3rd
New Developments in IT & Water will be joining with WWEM, the Water,
Wastewater & Environmental Monitoring Conference & Exhibition this year at the
Telford International Conference Centre from 2nd
-3rd
November 2016.
The marriage of the IWA and WWEM conferences makes this an essential event for
all members of the water industry who are involved and interested in data, information,
process automation, control, instrumentation, measurement and analysis.
Visitors will attend from across the water industry with representatives from
academia, industry and the supply chain.
Paper selection
and timescales
Your outline submission and the final full paper (if you’re accepted as a presenter)
must be in plain English and clearly define the objectives, status, methodology,
findings and significance of the investigation or study. Your submitted outline
paper will be peer reviewed by international experts. Programme selections are
based on the scores and comments of those reviewers. Presenter decisions will
be announced in June 2016.
How to submit
Abstracts should be submitted through the conference webpage
www.wwem.uk.com/it2016 where further details on abstract guidance
are provided.
What do I need to pay?
Every presenter (platform, poster, workshop and panel) is required to register as
a paying delegate and attend the congress. If you’re presenting, you are eligible
for discounted registration fees. Presenters are responsible for their own travel
and accommodation expenses. Presenters who do not register before 16th
September 2016 will be replaced. You do not need to be a member of IWA to
present, but members receive larger discounts on registration fees and receive
other membership benefits.
