Curriculum Design Mapping   ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],2. Examination of the formal inputs to the Stage Gate process to identify where an input from Learning Design is possible 3. Development of a Learning Design Toolbox containing support guides for Tools, Activities, Methods, Resources, and Templates 4. Mapping of items in the Learning Design Toolbox to the Stage Gate process Method:  A set of fifteen flowcharts was created to visually represent the OU Curriculum Design process. Over thirty interviews were held with Curriculum Managers, Programme Managers, Award and Course Managers to review and validate the mapping of the curriculum design process Method:  A review of Stage Gate documentation and PLANET transactions was performed to show where the formal Curriculum Design process requires an input from one or more of the four Learning Design components – Context, Pedagogy, Task and Learning Outcomes Method:  A key output this year has been the consolidation of the tools and resources we have been developing and trialling into a more comprehensive Toolbox. The Toolbox is available as an evolving cloudscape on Cloudworks Method:  Work has begun on mapping the items available in the Toolbox to activities in the Stage Gate process to develop the Learning Design ‘spine’. The next phase of work is to run Case Study Interventions to trial and evaluate the use of the tools etc. in different contexts, for example the use of the Course Map as an aid to developing a course structure Visualising the ‘As Is’ Curriculum Design process across the Open University to identify intervention points for Learning Design Paul Mundin Gráinne Conole Simon Cross Rebecca Galley Juliette Culver Andrew Brasher Integration of the Learning Design Toolbox with the Stage Gate process The Learning Design Toolbox Learning  Design input to Stage Gate 3a Stage Gate 3a – ‘As Is’ Courses Specification Plan Open University  Learning Design Initiative   www.ouldi.open.ac.uk
