The Northeast and Southeast woodlands of North America have many similarities and differences in their climate, vegetation, and wildlife. Both woodland regions have warm, humid summers and mild winters, but the Northeast receives more snowfall. The dominant trees in the Northeast include maple, beech, and birch trees, while the Southeast is home to oak, hickory, and pine trees. Black bears, white-tailed deer, and coyotes live throughout both woodland regions, but the Southeast is also habitat for alligators and bald cypress trees.
