• How can knowledge about the past help shape a more sustainable future
for cities?
• The example of the Amsterdam Time Machine:
• a distributed infrastructure, combining HisGIS and procedural 3D modelling
• a data hub giving access to all digital sources about the city’s past
consolidated into a comprehensive knowledge graph
• 3D models act as a gateway to historical data and invite the public to explore
them in an immersive and participatory way

Objective: Connect regions and support interregional
innovation in a specific sector
Partnerships are mandated to generate projects and report
about the sector to the European Commission
Currently 37 partnerships in different sectors appointed
The Virtual and Smart Cultural Tourism Partnership got
appointed for a pilot phase in 2021
Network of 8 Regions (Jena, Amsterdam, Paris, Cyprus,
Saxony, Galicia, Basilicata, Thuringia) from 7 countries
(AT, NL, ES, FR, CY, DE, IT).

Smart Cultural Tourism (since 2021)

13. C4Education aims to develop a virtual lab for digital tools for education
on cultural heritage. This includes a collection of digital tools for citizen
education e.g. via museum applications, city guides or virtual
exhibitions. C4Education is linked to large scale stakeholder
communities worldwide and develops a framework to extend and
sustain the tool collection as a commercial model. C4Educations key
outcomes will be:
1. A digital platform comprising an application marketplace, including
certification criteria and sales models,
2. a corresponding training / tutorial platform, including self-steered
tutorials and webinars,
3. a set of demo cases.

• The vision: A low-end & guided digitization workflow to
enable citizens to 3D digitize heritage in risk.
• How to do: Take 20-30 photos with your mobile and
upload into our portal. Server-based reconstruction
pipeline and publication on Sketchfab.
