• First introduced by Phraya Phakdi Noraset
• Horse-drawn carriages
• Three-wheeled Ford motorcars with two
long parallel benches for seating

○ Hard hit by a high inflation rate.
○ Operators increase in fares
○ Government take over the mass transit services
➢ 1975
○ Government provides free bus.
○ Joint venture government and private companies as a
non-profit company “Mahanakhon Transport Company
Limited”

○ MTCL was soon scrapped
○ BMTA was established by a Royal
Decree
○ Begin operations in the October
