William 3 and after that in 1890 Queen Mary 2 of
England changes it to “The king and Queen’s college
of Physicians in Ireland”, the present title to it was
charter by Queen Victoria.

the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
Every applicant wishing to get hold of
Membership of the Royal College of Physicians
of Ireland must pass both parts of the
Membership Examination, if not exemption has
been granted and be present at a Membership
Conferring Ceremony where they are conferred
as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians
of Ireland. Membership awards the right to use
the post ostensible MRCPI.

recommendation by existing Fellows or upon
suggestion by existing Fellows of other branches
Colleges to doctors of consultant or counterpart
status. The benefits of this award include
recognition of expert ranking, admittance to

collegiality and the break to sway the future of the
profession. Fellowship honors the right to use the
post nominal FRCPI and to play a full part in the
