2. To the lighthouse
The Novel is published on 5th may-1927.
The Novel is landmark of high
modernism.
To the lighthouse, Virginia Woolf used
the language of psycholoanlysis.
Virginia Woolf “ pushed the light of
English language a little further against
darkness.”

parts:
 The novel’s first section. talking
place on a day before the first
world war.
 The middle period in which all
the action happens "off stage”
during the war.
 Last section talking place on a

4. What is symbolism?
 In the broadest sense a symbol is anything
which signifies something. In the sense all
words are symbols.
 Symbols are objects, characters, figures or
colors used to represent abstract idea or
concepts.
 In the symbol, the relation between the
signifying item and what is signifies is not a
natural one, but entirely a matters of social
convention.

symbolism
 The modern period in the decodes after

in literature.
 During those day it was very dangerous and
