HOW WILL COVID 19 CHANGE LIFE?
Introduction
COVID 19, as is well known, it affected in a catastrophic way for about two
years, however, the world has begun to reactivate in its totality. It starts with the world
economy, which is the one that benefits most people. These were difficult times to
overcome, but we survived to continue facing the adversities that arise in this new stage
of life. COVID-19 will change people's lives so that we can now be more careful in
multiple aspects of health, being more aware of what we bring to the world. We learned
that life goes in the blink of an eye. The pandemic showed that we must live longer
without worrying about simple things, that new modalities of study, work and the life
can be exercised with a new mood, that we can be able to adapt to any circumstance in
order to continue to make progress and there aren’t borders for the continuous
development of the human being.
Developing
The COVID-19 pandemic is a catastrophe that combines a biological threat with
various vulnerabilities, such as the organizational and response capacity of health
systems, overcrowding, informality, social work practices and public transportation.
At the beginning of the pandemic, society went through multiple crises, both
psychological and economic, as well as many human losses. According to figures from
the World Health Organization (WHO), by November 2020, COVID-19 had caused
more than 18 times the number of deaths of all epidemics in Latin America and the
Caribbean between 1970 and 2019.
For the first time since records have been kept, the economies of all countries in
the region have experienced a simultaneous contraction, the effects of emergency
closures, layoffs and quarantine to contain COVID-19 caused strong changes in the
community, many people suffered anxiety or depression during this health emergency.
Today, after 2 years of pandemic, we can notice some changes left by covid-19
in the world. Arundhati Roy in "Pandemic Is a Portal" writes, "Historically, pandemics
have forced humans to break with the past and imagine their world anew. This one is no
different. It is a portal, a gateway between one world and the next."
Governments have taken measures at the health, social and economic levels to
cope with the emergency and mitigate the impacts of the crisis on the most vulnerable.
Given their limited fiscal maneuverability, most countries in the region have made
extraordinary efforts. However, in addition to short-term relief measures, structural
problems need to be addressed. Far from returning to the previous development model,
the objective should be to move towards a new one.
Nowadays, people's way of thinking has changed, we are now more careful with
hygiene and we prefer to have a social distance, many people prefer to continue using
masks even though they are no longer mandatory. Another change is teleworking.
Teleworking was used before the pandemic, but very little, now many companies and
institutions have chosen to implement teleworking permanently, obtaining great
advantages such as reduced business costs, freedom and labor flexibility and reduced
sick leave.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we can say that one of the changes that covid-19 has left in the
world is the feeling of vulnerability, even after masks are no longer mandatory, many
people choose to continue using them, since they feel insecure sin them and the disease
itself was so serious that the fear is still great of relapsing or being locked up again.
And although governments have adopted health, social and economic measures
to deal with the emergency and mitigate the impacts of the crisis on the most
vulnerable, there are still businesses and people economically affected by such a radical
pandemic, people who will never get up again and those who can do what they are
doing in debt and with many limitations.
