2. Social media is media which its users can interact, share and
communicate with other users.
Examples:
-Social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter and
MySpace
-YouTube and Video Jug
-Online sharing sites, such as Flickr, Photobucket and
Slideshare
-Instant Online Messaging, for example Skype and Msn
-Blogs
-Interactive games
3. Media has become social, in a way that you can
now interact and communicate with users, rather
than just be a viewer.
YouTube is a good example of this because
anyone can upload and comment on video’s,
whereas simply watching them would not be
classed as social media.
The same could be said for just watching a
television programme.
4. Anyone can use social media nowadays to
communicate with people, which has increasingly
become more convenient than meeting face to
face.
Doodle is a good example of this as it allows users
to easily put forward days and times that they are
free, to allow easy organisation for social events.
5. What makes Facebook social, but not for example, a radio
show?
Facebook allows the users to personalize the information that they
send to other users, and communicate with anyone. A radio show
on the other hand, controls all interaction with its listeners, through
the decisions of the producer.
Despite this, it could be said that a radio show an be classed as
social media, as people can ring in and interact with the show
online, for example competitions.
6. Most media’s could be argued to be social, due to
movements in technology. There is now a limited
amount of media that, in some way or other,
hasn’t become social
The social aspect of media has made things a lot
more convenient for people, due to that amount
of interactivity and communication, online.
