REFERRAL
Dear Sir/Ms.:
as part of his remit as Planning Manager for Eastern Europe, Nick Brooks was
responsible for TUI Deutschland GmbH’s products in Hungary. As TUI’s subsidiary
incoming agency in Hungary, we worked together with Nick very intensely.
Nick has an abundance of energy that inspires people that work alongside him.
Hungary is not one of the world’s leading tourism destinations, but Nick realized its
growth potential and understood that many people’s livelihoods depended on a
constant stream of tourists. While TUI was a tough negotiator, Nick made sure it
did not take advantage of its position as a powerful multinational, engaging in a
more collaborative win/win approach with service providers.
Nick did not shirk from asserting himself in the highly political environment at TUI
headquarters in Germany. Nick was calculating to the advantage of his products.
For example, he recognized European Union Enlargement in May 2004 as the
opportunity to raise Hungary’s profile within the company. He helped to organize
16 special EU events around Germany that promoted TUI’s East European
holidays. Hungary itself received several weeks of prime coverage at TUI’s flagship
travel agency in Unter den Linden, Berlin.
At the same time we admired Nick’s work ethics: he treated staff and business
partners in a fair, respectful manner and never manipulated people for his own
personal gain. In fact, he could easily identify and took action against colleagues
with a propensity to dirty politics.
Despite working for a German multinational renowned for its bureaucratic style,
Nick remained surprisingly creative and was not afraid to challenge existing
structures. In 2003, he was the driving force behind the introduction of the
2. departmental “ideas forum”. This uncomplicated, entrepreneurial spirit and the
willingness to reconsider supposedly irreversible decisions made by predecessors
were extremely refreshing.
Nick demonstrated his commitment to us, and we are sure he would be committed
to your company too. We are confident that he is only applying to positions where
he believes he can both contribute and learn a great deal, and we hope that he has
the opportunity to deal with Hungary again in the future.
Yours Sincerely,
Csákány Csaba
