This document provides an introduction and overview of a course on sustainability management in aviation. It discusses some of the benefits of aviation like facilitating travel and trade, but also acknowledges the downsides like noise, pollution and climate change. It notes that in response, there have been protests, policies introduced like ticket taxes and bans on some domestic flights. It states that aviation needs to become more sustainable. It motivates learning about sustainability by asking what sustainability means, and directs the reader to additional files to understand sustainability before making aviation more sustainable.
