Electric vehicles are automobiles, which are powered by the electric
engine and electric energy.
EVs use rechargeable batteries to store and provide electricity for
propulsion.
The development of the electric vehicles is a very perspective and
important process.
Power electronics plays a crucial role in the evolution of Electric
Vehicles (EVs), contributing to their efficiency, performance, and
overall functionality.
Evs, are vehicles that are powered by an electric motor instead of an
internal combustion engine.
4. Basics Of Power Electronics
An inverter is an electronic device that converts direct
current (DC) power to alternating current (AC) power.
A converter is a device that transforms electrical energy from
one form or level to another.
Power semiconductors are electronic devices specifically
designed to handle and control high levels of electrical power.
5. Conversion of Maruti 800 into Electric Car
A decade ago, it was very difficult to
covert a fuel-driven car into an
electric vehicle. Buying an electric
car was too costly. It is an expensive
affair even in 2021. However, there
is an alternative. Now, you can
convert your diesel/petrol car into an
electric one. The authorities have
given the approval to make changes
in your vehicle to make it more
environment-friendly.

8. 1. Electric Motor
• Generally the Brushless DC Motor is used.
• simpler to maintain, more durable ,smaller.
2. DC-DC Converter
The traction battery pack delivers a constant voltage.
But different components of electric vehicle have different
requirements. The DC-DC convertor distributes the output
power that is coming from the battery to a required level. It
also provides the voltage required to charge the auxiliary
battery.
3. Controller
The controller’s primary role is to monitor how
much power is sent to the electric motors from
the battery and inverter. Increases efficiency and
extend battery life time.
9. 4. Thermal-System Cooling
This device ensures that the engine, electric motor, power systems, and
other parts run within the ideal temperature zone. It uses a forced air
cooling and liquid cooling.
5. Onboard Charger:
Onboard charger is used to convert the AC supply received from the
charge port to DC supply. The on-board charger is located and
installed inside the car.
6.Traction Battery Pack
Traction battery pack is also known as Electric vehicle battery (EVB). It
powers the electric motors of an electric vehicle. The battery acts as an
electrical storage system. It stores energy in the form DC current.

Some just look at the fastest electric cars to judge performance. Still, we
consider horsepower, top speed, acceleration, and drive type when analyzing performance
to give you a better recommendation for which electric cars will perform in the most real-
world situations.

13. Benefit of Electrical vehicle
Lower running cost:
Electric vehicles use electricity to charge their batteries
instead of using fossil fuels like petrol or diesel. Electric
vehicles are more efficient, and that combined with the
electricity cost means that charging an electric vehicle is
cheaper than filling petrol or diesel for your travel
requirements.
Low Maintance Cost:
Electric vehicles have very low maintenance costs because
they don’t have as many moving parts as an internal
combustion vehicle.
14. Noise Pollution:
Electric vehicles have the silent functioning capability as there is no engine under
the hood. No engine means no noise.
