A lighting technician's job is difficult as they are responsible for coming up with and implementing lighting designs that enhance live performances. Good communication and ability to work under pressure are crucial skills, as lighting plays an important role.
Being a radio presenter has pros like interacting with people worldwide, but making catchy advertisements on short notice is challenging. Enthusiasm and strong improvisation abilities are also needed to fill airtime if interviews are delayed.
An art curator manages an art gallery and its events. Preparing events takes confidence and organization, as the curator must direct others and ensure tasks are completed on time. When hosting galleries, confidence and enthusiasm are important for explaining artworks to audiences.
1. What I learnt about C&M Jobs Lighting Technician, Radio Presenter and Art Curator
2. Lighting Technician http://www.reelfilmlocations.co.uk/images/7-1-1%20Watermans%20Theatre.jpg The person who worked there as a lighting technician told us that being a lighting technician is a really hard job as you have to come up with the lighting on your own, and have to make it really effective. Because the lighting has such an impact on the performance, even before the rehearsals of a performance starts the lighting technician has to work alongside the director and work out the lighting. It is a really tough job especially when you’re doing the lighting for alive performance as there's a lot of pressure and if you go wrong it could mess up the whole performance as lighting plays a really important role in a performance. Another thing that I learnt was that you need to have really good communication skills and you should be able to work well under pressure, because you have to communicate with the director a lot.
3. Radio Presenter http://www.teara.govt.nz/files/p1836ara.jpg There are many pros and cons to being a radio presenter, but the radio presenter that we got to ask questions to had many more up sides than down. One thing they really liked about their job was that they got to communicate with people from all over the world. One thing that’s really hard about this job is that you can be expected to make a really good advertisement in a very short span of time. This is something that many radio presenters are expected to do, and the main thing is that it has to be catchy so that the product they’re advertising sells. Whilst we were there we saw someone preparing an advertisement, and we got to hear it too, and it was perfect, it had music in the background and the person speaking had so much enthusiasm in their voice, and that’s the main thing a radio presenter needs, and that is enthusiasm in their voice no matter how much pressure they’re under/ Another thing I got to learn was that you need to be really good at improvising, so that if the person you’re interviewing turn up late you need to have something to say until they turn up, which is again really tough, but that’s a skill the person needs to have if they want to be a radio presenter.
4. Art Curator http://livinghealthy.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c56a353ef01156f2f21b6970b-800wi Till I went on this trip I didn’t know what an art curator was and now I know, and what it is, is a person who’s in charge of the art gallery. This was a really interesting visit, because I thought that this couldn’t be difficult but after this visit I was proved totally wrong. One thing that’s really hard about this job is to prepare events. The person who is the art curator is the one who is the main in charge of this event, and they’re the ones who has to tell everyone what they have to do, and have to make sure they get everything done in time. Also, the art curator does take in charge the showing of a gallery, and they have to host it which tells me that the person who is an art curator has to be very confident and clear about what they’re saying, and like the Radio Presenter has to show enthusiasm when they’re talking about paintings, as they have to try and sell the painting to the audience. For this job I think the two main skills needed in this job would be confidence and the ability to work under pressure, as when you are preparing things you do sometimes have shortage of time, so even then the organiser had to stay very calm.
