2. Social commentary highlighting our
independence on technology, is becoming
an increasingly vocal movement. Much of
the commentary focuses around our use of
smart phones and the “second person”
they create. While most of the social
media world relies on the “second person”
to convey a untarnished lifestyle, this
commentary, on that narrative is hard to
miss. And is becoming increasingly critical
and popular.
Tech Revolt
3. Russian youth culture has been developing
for a few decades, even through the
stubborn last remnants of communism.
And even though Russia is a quasi-
authoritarian country, the youth have been
slowly finding their own voice and not
relying on Western Culture to dictate their
norms. Art, fashion, writing and films are
becoming a place of solace for Russian
youth battling cultural oppression.

4. Life & Death at Light Speed
We live in a time where information comes
to us at lightspeed, with that speed comes
trends that rise exponentially. But in this
information age these trends can also
come crashing down, research points to
market saturation, but it also points to
voices on the internet. From parents giving
it bad reviews to Generation X creating the
“The Original Fidget Spinner” meme, it was
a collective, loud voice that quickly made
fidget spinners kryptonite to teens and
millennials.

5. The Meme War
It’s no secret that in the last year, memes
have quickly become one of the internets
fastest growing ways of communicating an
idea or more importantly a feeling. In the
past memes were mostly used by the
youth, but over the last 1-2 years, adults
have entered the game. If you
watched………. While some researchers
feel that memes are a deconstruction of
human language, there are others that are
using memes as a form of therapy.

6. A Fitness Revolution coming
to you
Move over Cross-Fit there’s a new fitness
regime in town (actually the world)
And its called Calisthenics. Some people
might remember the Calisthenics fad in the
80’s, but this is a whole new, fitter beast.
Some can point to the start of this trend to
a video that surfaced online featuring a
man working out on a set of parallel bars in
a park. And from there the movement has
taken off. There are Callisthenic
organizations around the world with some
very popular ones on the tipping point of
becoming big business.
7. The Techno-Glitch Peak
For a short time a period “Techno-Glitch”
was rising up as one of the more popular
movements. This period encompassed
fashion, video and music and was
characterized by tech driven fashion which
featured de-res’d patterns and bright neon
colors. In video it was fast edits with
intentional glitches embedded. In music it
was and still is the wobbly-chopped up
baselines of dubstep.
8. The Art Revival
For the last few years Pop art has been
the prevailing style. But a few artists
have been quietly, patiently “classically
training” to get their art to unbelievable
realistic levels. Photorealistic art and
sculpture is finding it’s place in a word
where taking your time on a project is
hard commodity to find. The future of
this genre is going to grow as others try
to be the most realistic artist.
9. Provoking societal norms is nothing new,
but there’s a new breed that is going to
change fashion in ways we can’t quite
comprehend yet. There are two sides to
every coin, one side of this disruption is
meant to prod and poke at the insanity of
fashion. While the other side of the coin is
trying to find its voice in fashion through
penetration of the absurd. Either way, bio-
mimicry is going to be a sight to see.
Fashion that’s not meant for
consumption
