1. MOTIVATION STATEMENT
I have been translating and writing technical texts as a freelancer for some ten years, I wish to apply
for a role which will allow me to broaden my career background and develop my potential further.
Among others, my areas of translation expertise include regulatory affairs and quality management in
the field of medicine and pharmaceutics, financial texts, finance, banking, contracts and civil/patent
law.
In 1999-2003, whilst at university, I carried out two placements in Germany. One was in the field of
administration (IATA) and the other was in industry (Eurocoin AG, a manufacturer of coin planchets).
Here too, my work related to customer acquisition and customer satisfaction among national mints.
Shortly after completing my bachelor degree in Languages and International Trade, I worked in
Germany as a helpdesk agent providing telephone-based IT support for the German/French/English
teams of Serono and BMW.
In 2005, I took on translation work for a Munich-based firm of patent attorneys. In this role, I mostly
translated patents relating to medical equipment. The work included translations of correspondence
from the various patent offices and, as the patent cases developed, frequent changes to exist ing
patent texts.
All these areas of work enabled me to demonstrate my motivation, as well as respect for the company
values, deadlines and quality standards. Today, I apply the same principles with every piece of work I
complete for my own clients who, after time, have come to rely on me.
In me, you will find an organised, creative, hard-working and team-spirited applicant with excellent IT
skills, strong customer focus and communication skills.
