As a teenager I developed a longing to find a way to change the world just as many people have
dreamed about at some point in their life; I was starting to realize that the world was full of
problems. As I matured, I understood that within everyone there is a world that may be damaged
by substance abuse. I may not be able to change the world as a whole, but I can help guide others
that are damaged to change their life.
My philosophy comes from, whoever saves a life, is considered as though that person saved the
entire world. I went through a difficult period in my life where I was depressed for a long time
and I did not realize what was happening to me until I read a book about how to deal with
emotions. That information empowered me to change my way of thinking and lead me to read
more about psychology which I understand may be key to help resolve an addicted person's true
issues that drive their substance abuse.
While studying psychology on my own, I chose to pursue Drug and Alcohol Counseling as a
career. My preparation for the career has begun with the completion of the Alcohol and Drug
Counselor certification course at Intercoast College where I have a very strong knowledge of co-
occurring disorders. As a beginning counselor in the field of Mental Health, one cannot ignore
the need to treat addiction problems along with Behavioral problems. In recent years, studies of
rehabilitation programs for people with co-occurring have shown that integrated treatment is the
most effective approach.
My knowledge and skills in substance abuse treatment that I obtained at Intercoast College will
benefit any agency with my ability to provide excellent service with a holistic approach for dual
diagnosed patients. I would enjoy further discussing how I can be of service. Please contact me

Thank you for your time,
