1. WasteCon 2016
“Changing the face of waste management”
With a new look and feel for Interwaste and a set theme for the conference we had developed a unique way to demonstrate the
ability of how waste can actually unite a nation through the reutilization of streams to change them into another form whilst
creating jobs.
We employed a local Enterprise Development to reutilize waste streams generated on our own sites, to create our “giveaways”
for the course of Waste Con whilst providing exposure for their business. We also discovered a local artist (Ndabuko Ntuli) from
Soweto who reutilizes the waste from in and around the squatter camp to create sculptures and art pieces. We subsequently
incorporated a bust sculpture of Nelson Mandela into our stand, with the tie in of “He changed our country, lets stand together
to change the face of waste management”.
