Waste Management Sponsorship for both events – April to May 2015
This event is the first of its kind for Interwaste. 2 major cycling events with routes deeply set in the Sani Pass, making it a
logistical challenge to route trucks in and out of the various villages.
Joberg2c – 3 race villages attended to totalling 5 days on route.
Sani2c – All 3 race villages attended to totalling 11 days on route.
This was the first time Interwaste had delivered a solution to an event so far off the beaten track, to the point where we had to
go on-site and educate the locals what it meant to recycle and what you could actually recycle. This was a very challenging
task, but lesson learnt and appreciated – I would definitely do it again.
This event involved educating the local community, sourcing licensed facilities to take the waste products, educating and
managing the staff in the safe removal of waste streams generated, coordinating truck routes and arrivals as well as set up and
deconstruction of Interwaste materials. Management of PR and social media campaigns run on Twitter (personal), LinkedIn
(corporate) and Facebook (personal), sponsorship of selected riders, and waste management for entire event, generation of
marketing material and social media blasts, as well as the arrangement and organisation of branding on site at the events.
