1. CPUT Recycling Day
Educational Recycling Campaign – September 2014
A quick 4 day event in association with the Cape Peninsula University of Technology for the education of their students on
recycling. This involved strategically placed material along their technologies faculty, and the construction of a “recycled house”
alongside their engineering students which needed to be erected at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. The University set-up
and material generation was facilitated by myself alongside the educational material that was later handed out to the students. A
presentation on the benefits of recycling was developed and delivered during lectures throughout the University.
The development of the “recycled houses” was done on site at the V&A Waterfront, during the evenings as we were
categorically told that we could not disrupt the “shopping experience” of their visitors. The house was constructed over night with
the frames being built off site and brought in by crane truck, sponsored by Interwaste.
The entire expenditure of this project was provided by CPUT, and the material used, printed and generated was provided by
Interwaste. The entire project cost in the region of R20’000
