Introduction
In world leading plant science business Syngenta is one of them. Syngenta has more
than 24,000 people in over 90 countries. The main aim of Syngenta is to develop
sustainable agriculture through innovative research and technology. Syngenta works for
all levels of people in home and abroad in the matrix structure. Research and
development, global supply (including manufacturing), human resources (HR), sales and
marketing, finance, and Information Systems (IS) are the main functions of Syngenta.
Task 1
1.1– Understand the relationship between organisational structureand
culture.
The matrix structure: A matrix organization structure is usually used as one where
there are multiple reporting works in an organisation.
The relationship between organizational culture and organizational structure is an
important topic. Organisational structure and culture can be difficult to find difference
between them. Organizational structure and culture are very much interlinked.
Organisation structure helps culture works with efficiency and consistency that should be
the hallmark of any well organizational structure. Organisation structure is an integral part
of culture. Organizational structure deals with directly with the setup of the culture. the
relationship between organizational culture and organizational structure can be difficult to
tell different, but in a fully healthy culture that is exactly what should be expected when
all is functioning normally.
Organisational Structure: Aim of organisational structure is to design the structure and
the perfect design output as an interest of organisation. Based on function and region the
structure as a complex structure. An organization can be structured in its objectives. The
structure of an organization will find how the organisation will be conducted.
Organisation culture: refers to the beliefs and behaviors that how an organization’s
employee work and management. It also develops organically over time from the
cumulative traits. In functional way the organisation’s all top to bottom management
works.
Functional Structures: This is an organizational structure how an organization is divided
into different departments or functional work activities. It is common functions include
operations, accounting, marketing, information technology and human resources. A level
of top organisation’s works functional area .According to an article for the Houston
Chronicle, the primary benefit of a functional structure is that each significant work activity
is organized into one area. This approach allows the workers in that area to collaborate
on tasks. Lack of cooperation between functions may also occur in this structures.
Product-based structure: In this structure activities are projected according to product
or service, and formal coordination of management functions occurs separately for each.
Power culture: controls is the key element, decisions are controlled by one or a small
number of people. It is usually found within small organisation or a department belongs
to a large organisation. This is because it would be difficult to run a large organisation
where only a small number of people were allowed to make decisions. Decisions can be
made quickly as there is little consultation. Lack of consultation organisation cannot able
to take advantage of the skills and experience of its workforce; it could even lead to
employees feeling demotivated and high staff turnover.
Task Culture: use of teams to complete works especially if the objective has a number
of steps. The work of project teams for the completion of specific subject is an example
of task culture. Set specific tasks to complete within a set timescale and budget:
number of benefits so on are monitored by project teams. It also creates a sense of
achievement when the team complete the task successfully and solve problem
1.2- The relationship between structure and culture can impact on the
performance of Syngenta.
Syngenta follows the matrix structure. Using matrix structure Syngenta easily enables
employees to contribute to a mix of activities. Organization’s structure can make the
organization efficient or perform better, this is because rules are clearly defined each
employee knows their area of responsibility and use relevant skills to achieve specific
aims or objectives by matrix structure. Work specialization, improve efficiency is also
conducted by Syngenta. In authority and accountability Syngenta depending on the
structure of the organization structure and culture by this employees easily get the
opportunities to progress and it helps to improve their performance. Components of
organisation structure cultures are kept a great impact on Syngenta.
Decision Making: set various ideas, designs, and plans to run organisation. This
impactful decision need to take by the top management of Syngenta. All workers must
need to follow those ideas, designs, and plans to run organisation. This option if want to
get impactful result then need to apply the combination of Organisation structure and
power culture.
Task Process: Complete this process need to apply an organized structure and culture.
So the combination of functional structure and task culture will able to left a positive
feedback for Syngenta.
Team Work: Individuality personalities are the key words for Project teams work.
Syngenta can complete a perfect and impactful Project teams work by choosing functional
and product-based structure along with person culture for the task.
Communication: It is the most important task for any type of Organisation. Without doing
any communication it’s impossible to forward. And the strong ability of functional structure
is communication. Functional structure and role culture is the best answer of this question
for Syngenta.
Described key tasks are important for any Organisation. So must need to choose
appropriate combination for the appropriate task. Various combinations which vary
on their Organisation behaviour.
1.3- Discuss the factors which influence individual behaviour at
Syngenta
It is an intellectual process of transforming sensory stimuli into meaningful
information. The process of interpreting something that we see or hear in our
mind and use it later to judge and give a verdict on a project
It can be divided into six types namely −
 Of sound − the ability to receive sound by identifying vibrations.
 Of speech − the competence of interpreting and understanding the sounds of
language heard.
 Touch − Identifying objects through patterns of its surface by touching it.
 Taste − the ability to detect flavor of substances by tasting it through sensory
organs known as taste buds.
 Other senses − other senses include balance, acceleration, pain, time, sensation
felt in throat and lungs etc.
 Of the social world − It permits people to understand other individuals and
projects of their social world
Every Organisation includes much type of people as their workers. And those workers
have different types of behavior factor that can be useful if will take exact step
otherwise have to face a various problem.
Personality: Indicates directly individual workers. It shows the uniqueness and ability
which is essential for the project team work. Creating leadership personality plays an
important role.
Perception: Defines those who have experience about his/her work. As like the
project worker of Syngenta who have the professional idea about their organisation.
Attitude: Describes a worker’s behaviour which can be constructive or destructive. As
attitude means the reaction of someone after getting the experience on something. If
attitude positive then it can constructive otherwise it is destructive.
Ability and Aptitude: ability of performing then that ability proves as productive by
lots of other worker, as the ability will be distributed at the working surface.
Behaviour factors are very impactful. Close analyze behaviour can increase
productivity.
Then factors which are evacuated, express that the behavior has how much
importance at the page of organization structure and culture.
Task 2
2.1 - Understand different approachesto managementand leadership
Managing and leading are the two concepts that are quite commonly argued to be distinct
actions or notions though, sharing similarities in their functions and objectives. Leadership
is basically concerned with humans. Leaders’ job is to lead people towards organizational
goals and most of the time, those goals and objectives of organization are set and
established by the leaders, themselves. On the other hand, Management is a wide
concept and an individual may manage not only human resources or employees but also
material and informational resources of the organizations.
Autocratic Leadership: leadership style is depends on workers personality. Leader is
enough able to make decision by own. Leader does not need to depend on others. If the
leader fell for taking any decision have to break the policy of company then the leader
have authority to do that. Syngenta is a big company. There are different sector available
in Syngenta. Always have to think how to update the strategy to compete with other rival
organizations. It will help in taking fast decision. If one leader operates the system then
very Mino possibility of creating confusion.it is important all the decisionof that leader will
be proven in a positive way.
Democratic Leadership: The main intension of this leadership is to provide opportunity
to the workers and create a comfortable friendly atmosphere for working. Because this
style believes if someone won’t get suitable environment at the work place then it will be
tough to get maximum positive work.
2.2- Explain how organisational theory underpins the practice of
management at Syngenta
Values, behaviors, expectations, experiences that hold an organization together and
expresses itself to the outside world is called organizational culture. Organizational
culture is based on shared belief, attitudes, written and unwritten rules that have been
developed overtime and are considered valid. The way Syngenta conducts its business,
treats its workers and the community around can also be termed as organizational culture.
Organizational culture can be classified into; collaborative culture and controlled culture
.Collaborative culture deals with team work. Such Syngenta seeks customer satisfaction
.Staffs working under this type of culture are offered shares, they have freedom to work
and make decisions that affect the growth of the company positively. Managers who
operate this type of culture tend to be liberal, trusting, energizing, motivating, inspiring
and committed. This type of culture promotes fast growth, high self-esteem among
workers and high productivity rate for the organization in general
Scientific management: It analyzes and synthesizes works. Its main objective is
improving economic efficiency, especially labor productivity.
Contingency Approach: This theory is trying to say it is not necessary just top
management people are able to perform, low management are just introduced to follow
up. They also can able to provide innovative ideas. May they do not have top
management organization skills but they have experience. So they know how to handle
emergency situations. The theory is trying to get the organization skills of top and from
low management want to get experience. And finally launch an attractive performance.
As Syngenta has a long queue of workers in a row so if they do not just supervised by
the top management also get opportunity to perform.
2.3- Evaluate the different approaches to management used by
Syngenta and a company of your own choice
Scientific management: operates a organisation like Syngenta. In their project they also
need to do team work, project discussion, exchange of experience and knowledge. They
believe this calculation can mathematically solve the equation. And will top at the
examination business performance.
Syngenta also can boost out by applying their entire site that match best with it. This is
one of the most depth and successful theory that can do dept. evaluation.
Contingency Approach: which has similar company like Syngenta. They have
organisation in different region. So they need to know about local market and local
working style. So in this process this theory is playing an important role.
Syngenta is needed also need r situational problem solve out. And only this theory has
the answer of this question.
Syngenta just want to solve the problem and move on as soon as possible. As how
much they take time that much working source they will need to apply to adjust.
Task 3
3.1-Understandways of using a motivationaltheoriesin organisations
Companies rely on their employees to produce products or provide services in a timely
fashion. And while employees can easily learn the tasks and procedures required to carry
out their roles, organizations can benefit from providing motivational incentives for
exceptional job performance. Motivational theory in an organization has to do with the
way in which a company motivates its employees to perform as a project and within their
individual job roles
Autocratic Leadership is not most effectual in the initial stage. Because in that stage the
most important task of company was to clear the aim and destination of the company to
the worker. Have to describe what types of facilities they would get if they support at the
initial stage. This is also in the part of safety motivation. But this theory extract that the
leader do not have a good communication with the worker. The leader is not concern
about the performance of worker. The leader keeps him away from the lower
management. In the initial stage those behaviour are completely avoided. Because that
behaviour creates barriers between those two stage. But in that time hardly needs to
connect with all workers need to give them priority and also had to follow more
motivational rule to get the productivity service from workers. So if SYNGENTA used to
follow this design then they must have to face the platform of failure.
Democratic leadership is the perfect style for SYNGENTA at the initial period. The
principles of this method are to be connected with all workers strongly. Give them priority
to put their experience in management meeting. Give them the right to talk not put the
barriers of just following silently in their leg. Make them feel that they are also as important
as like top management by put extra pressure of responsibilities in their shoulder. It will
make them fell how trust the company has on them which influence them to work hard.
In the initial stage the struggler company have put every step by thinking again and
aging. Any mistake may cause the reason of breaking dream. But the dream of
SYNGENTA is still alive that proofs then would not do those mistakes at these
stages. They choose the right style to motivate their worker.
3.2-Comparethe application ofdifferentmotivationaltheories and their
application within Syngenta.
In organizations, motivating people is a highly researched subject as it contributes to both
the quality of working life and the productivity of the organization (Wood et al, pg
78). Consequently, managers must perform a vital role of identifying what motivates an
individual, create an environment to positively support and meet the needs of employees
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs :A crystal concept provided by (Mount, 2002), that clarify
human are surrounded with three types of needs, those are basic, emotional and practical
need. Any person cans conceder himself to the person or organization that fills those
needs perfectly. But the interesting part is need is like the hungry of elephant. How much
someone feed won’t be able to satisfy. It will increase more and more. But the theory says
by providing the five model of need that were categorized in three part before, able to
control the incensement of need and able to motivate performer to perform.
McGregor’s Theory X and Y: World is fill with various types of people who have different
personality. To define some of those personality (Gordon, 2007) mentioned few words
that is, few cars run smoothly till the end of oil but some are fully filled with oil but need to
push. It does not start until getting the push. The theory tries to define those two type by
X and Y.
3.3- Evaluate the usefulness of a motivation theory for managers in
Syngenta.
The starting point for all three different types of motivation theories is that they are built
on the concept that intrinsic motivation is much stronger than extrinsic. This bedrock
fundamental is perhaps the most powerful concept to apply in your work; see my post
on top employee motivation for a more thorough review of incentive plans.it means that
to get great results, you need people to be intrinsically interested in their work. Your efforts
to control, set expectations, and reward people are all methods of extrinsic motivation,
which helps explain why managers are often disappointed with employee results when
relying on those motivation tools.
Encourages Staff Improvement: By following the above theory manager Syngenta can
encourage the staff to improve. Just have to erase the dissatisfaction option like set a
friendly environment for work so that worker get motivated to learn by watching other
performance.
Task 4
4.1- Mechanisms for developing effective teamwork in organisations
Different company divided their task into different project and hand over the projects to
projects to make success. Need to identify the behavior of members and based on their
personality have to categorized in different projects to achieve the goal of the projects
Formal Project: Syngenta can open a formal project to execute a formal project like
planning strategy, designing new marketing plan or different type of projects rely on top
management.
Informal Project: Syngenta can create an informal project for having some training to
develop the performance. These projects’ members are mainly selected by their personal
capability. Like some people are able to learn quickly by following the visual way. Then
Syngenta will add all members that have visual ability in learning in this project.
Group Behavior: Behavior helps to identify the individual members. Like Syngenta can
use this to identify the personality that have strong marketing and leadership skill. Also
can divide the informal projects based on their ability and personality types.
Group work is an important key to enrich the performance of workers.
4.2-Discuss the factors thatmay promote or inhibitthe developmentof
effective teamwork at Syngenta.
Every task has a way and rule to perform. And to get success easily have to focus on
some factors. Like other task teamwork also has some factors that help to get success in
an easy and smooth way. Many factors are available there among them some key factors
are described below.
Group Size: Syngenta must maintain the size of the project. For any formal project need
to launch a formal project including maximum 5-6 members. As it will be help to contribute
easily. And for the informal learning project the number of the members will increase.
Group Synergy: This factor indicates that how the ability of a project member will
generate to other. During the team work a mixed of all management people work together
in a project to achieve their goal. And in this process they share their experience and
ability to each other.
Group Knowledge: will able to increase their worker knowledge by launching both formal
and informal team work. This will help to get future achievement.
Skills and Ability
Not just knowledge the system also will help to increase the level of skills and ability. So
that can get positive result after applying those skills practically in work place.
Team work helps to get the improvement in both personal and professional life.
And those factors are evaluating that very clearly.
4.3- Evaluate the impact of technology on team functioning within Syngenta.
Global world is being moderate day by day, leaving impact at all the sectors so business
world why won’t get any touch of moderation. The moderation system makes the task of
performer easier and helps any person to get the facilities by using it.
Training of Staff
Depends on capability and personality members are divided to get the easiest way to
learn. Technology pushes learner one step to forward by providing the support of it (Molz,
2010). This technology will help visual or auditory learner to learn in a second.
Team communication
Team will able to get communication by the support of this factor. Like different regional
project members of SYNGENTA can contact via skype.
Work processes can be enhanced
To enhance the work process technology contribute a lot. SYNGENTA can train their
member via technology which will enhance the work process.
Network and virtual teams
Technology helps to create a network virtually. The project members are able to perform
for the project by the virtual world.
Technology sized the world fewer but also wide the world of knowledge wider. For
that this factor is now able to contribute in business sectors also.
Executive Summery
The discussion makes the concept clear that the behaviour helps to create the formation
of both formal and informal projects. The evaluation of different factors measured that
how the members will be able to improve their ability and skills. And the touch of
technology considers a positive reflection to the business.

  • 3. Introduction In world leading plant science business Syngenta is one of them. Syngenta has more than 24,000 people in over 90 countries. The main aim of Syngenta is to develop sustainable agriculture through innovative research and technology. Syngenta works for all levels of people in home and abroad in the matrix structure. Research and development, global supply (including manufacturing), human resources (HR), sales and marketing, finance, and Information Systems (IS) are the main functions of Syngenta.
  • 4. Task 1 1.1– Understand the relationship between organisational structureand culture. The matrix structure: A matrix organization structure is usually used as one where there are multiple reporting works in an organisation. The relationship between organizational culture and organizational structure is an important topic. Organisational structure and culture can be difficult to find difference between them. Organizational structure and culture are very much interlinked. Organisation structure helps culture works with efficiency and consistency that should be the hallmark of any well organizational structure. Organisation structure is an integral part of culture. Organizational structure deals with directly with the setup of the culture. the relationship between organizational culture and organizational structure can be difficult to tell different, but in a fully healthy culture that is exactly what should be expected when all is functioning normally. Organisational Structure: Aim of organisational structure is to design the structure and the perfect design output as an interest of organisation. Based on function and region the structure as a complex structure. An organization can be structured in its objectives. The
  • 5. structure of an organization will find how the organisation will be conducted. Organisation culture: refers to the beliefs and behaviors that how an organization’s employee work and management. It also develops organically over time from the cumulative traits. In functional way the organisation’s all top to bottom management works. Functional Structures: This is an organizational structure how an organization is divided into different departments or functional work activities. It is common functions include operations, accounting, marketing, information technology and human resources. A level of top organisation’s works functional area .According to an article for the Houston Chronicle, the primary benefit of a functional structure is that each significant work activity is organized into one area. This approach allows the workers in that area to collaborate on tasks. Lack of cooperation between functions may also occur in this structures. Product-based structure: In this structure activities are projected according to product or service, and formal coordination of management functions occurs separately for each. Power culture: controls is the key element, decisions are controlled by one or a small number of people. It is usually found within small organisation or a department belongs to a large organisation. This is because it would be difficult to run a large organisation where only a small number of people were allowed to make decisions. Decisions can be
  • 6. made quickly as there is little consultation. Lack of consultation organisation cannot able to take advantage of the skills and experience of its workforce; it could even lead to employees feeling demotivated and high staff turnover. Task Culture: use of teams to complete works especially if the objective has a number of steps. The work of project teams for the completion of specific subject is an example of task culture. Set specific tasks to complete within a set timescale and budget: number of benefits so on are monitored by project teams. It also creates a sense of achievement when the team complete the task successfully and solve problem 1.2- The relationship between structure and culture can impact on the performance of Syngenta. Syngenta follows the matrix structure. Using matrix structure Syngenta easily enables employees to contribute to a mix of activities. Organization’s structure can make the organization efficient or perform better, this is because rules are clearly defined each employee knows their area of responsibility and use relevant skills to achieve specific aims or objectives by matrix structure. Work specialization, improve efficiency is also conducted by Syngenta. In authority and accountability Syngenta depending on the structure of the organization structure and culture by this employees easily get the opportunities to progress and it helps to improve their performance. Components of organisation structure cultures are kept a great impact on Syngenta. Decision Making: set various ideas, designs, and plans to run organisation. This impactful decision need to take by the top management of Syngenta. All workers must need to follow those ideas, designs, and plans to run organisation. This option if want to get impactful result then need to apply the combination of Organisation structure and power culture. Task Process: Complete this process need to apply an organized structure and culture. So the combination of functional structure and task culture will able to left a positive feedback for Syngenta.
  • 7. Team Work: Individuality personalities are the key words for Project teams work. Syngenta can complete a perfect and impactful Project teams work by choosing functional and product-based structure along with person culture for the task. Communication: It is the most important task for any type of Organisation. Without doing any communication it’s impossible to forward. And the strong ability of functional structure is communication. Functional structure and role culture is the best answer of this question for Syngenta. Described key tasks are important for any Organisation. So must need to choose appropriate combination for the appropriate task. Various combinations which vary on their Organisation behaviour. 1.3- Discuss the factors which influence individual behaviour at Syngenta It is an intellectual process of transforming sensory stimuli into meaningful information. The process of interpreting something that we see or hear in our mind and use it later to judge and give a verdict on a project It can be divided into six types namely −  Of sound − the ability to receive sound by identifying vibrations.  Of speech − the competence of interpreting and understanding the sounds of language heard.  Touch − Identifying objects through patterns of its surface by touching it.  Taste − the ability to detect flavor of substances by tasting it through sensory organs known as taste buds.  Other senses − other senses include balance, acceleration, pain, time, sensation felt in throat and lungs etc.
  • 8.  Of the social world − It permits people to understand other individuals and projects of their social world Every Organisation includes much type of people as their workers. And those workers have different types of behavior factor that can be useful if will take exact step otherwise have to face a various problem. Personality: Indicates directly individual workers. It shows the uniqueness and ability which is essential for the project team work. Creating leadership personality plays an important role. Perception: Defines those who have experience about his/her work. As like the project worker of Syngenta who have the professional idea about their organisation. Attitude: Describes a worker’s behaviour which can be constructive or destructive. As attitude means the reaction of someone after getting the experience on something. If attitude positive then it can constructive otherwise it is destructive. Ability and Aptitude: ability of performing then that ability proves as productive by lots of other worker, as the ability will be distributed at the working surface. Behaviour factors are very impactful. Close analyze behaviour can increase productivity. Then factors which are evacuated, express that the behavior has how much importance at the page of organization structure and culture.
  • 9. Task 2 2.1 - Understand different approachesto managementand leadership Managing and leading are the two concepts that are quite commonly argued to be distinct actions or notions though, sharing similarities in their functions and objectives. Leadership is basically concerned with humans. Leaders’ job is to lead people towards organizational goals and most of the time, those goals and objectives of organization are set and established by the leaders, themselves. On the other hand, Management is a wide concept and an individual may manage not only human resources or employees but also material and informational resources of the organizations. Autocratic Leadership: leadership style is depends on workers personality. Leader is enough able to make decision by own. Leader does not need to depend on others. If the leader fell for taking any decision have to break the policy of company then the leader have authority to do that. Syngenta is a big company. There are different sector available in Syngenta. Always have to think how to update the strategy to compete with other rival organizations. It will help in taking fast decision. If one leader operates the system then very Mino possibility of creating confusion.it is important all the decisionof that leader will be proven in a positive way. Democratic Leadership: The main intension of this leadership is to provide opportunity to the workers and create a comfortable friendly atmosphere for working. Because this style believes if someone won’t get suitable environment at the work place then it will be tough to get maximum positive work. 2.2- Explain how organisational theory underpins the practice of management at Syngenta Values, behaviors, expectations, experiences that hold an organization together and expresses itself to the outside world is called organizational culture. Organizational culture is based on shared belief, attitudes, written and unwritten rules that have been
  • 10. developed overtime and are considered valid. The way Syngenta conducts its business, treats its workers and the community around can also be termed as organizational culture. Organizational culture can be classified into; collaborative culture and controlled culture .Collaborative culture deals with team work. Such Syngenta seeks customer satisfaction .Staffs working under this type of culture are offered shares, they have freedom to work and make decisions that affect the growth of the company positively. Managers who operate this type of culture tend to be liberal, trusting, energizing, motivating, inspiring and committed. This type of culture promotes fast growth, high self-esteem among workers and high productivity rate for the organization in general Scientific management: It analyzes and synthesizes works. Its main objective is improving economic efficiency, especially labor productivity. Contingency Approach: This theory is trying to say it is not necessary just top management people are able to perform, low management are just introduced to follow up. They also can able to provide innovative ideas. May they do not have top management organization skills but they have experience. So they know how to handle emergency situations. The theory is trying to get the organization skills of top and from low management want to get experience. And finally launch an attractive performance. As Syngenta has a long queue of workers in a row so if they do not just supervised by the top management also get opportunity to perform.
  • 11. 2.3- Evaluate the different approaches to management used by Syngenta and a company of your own choice Scientific management: operates a organisation like Syngenta. In their project they also need to do team work, project discussion, exchange of experience and knowledge. They believe this calculation can mathematically solve the equation. And will top at the examination business performance. Syngenta also can boost out by applying their entire site that match best with it. This is one of the most depth and successful theory that can do dept. evaluation. Contingency Approach: which has similar company like Syngenta. They have organisation in different region. So they need to know about local market and local working style. So in this process this theory is playing an important role. Syngenta is needed also need r situational problem solve out. And only this theory has the answer of this question. Syngenta just want to solve the problem and move on as soon as possible. As how much they take time that much working source they will need to apply to adjust.
  • 12. Task 3 3.1-Understandways of using a motivationaltheoriesin organisations Companies rely on their employees to produce products or provide services in a timely fashion. And while employees can easily learn the tasks and procedures required to carry out their roles, organizations can benefit from providing motivational incentives for exceptional job performance. Motivational theory in an organization has to do with the way in which a company motivates its employees to perform as a project and within their individual job roles Autocratic Leadership is not most effectual in the initial stage. Because in that stage the most important task of company was to clear the aim and destination of the company to the worker. Have to describe what types of facilities they would get if they support at the initial stage. This is also in the part of safety motivation. But this theory extract that the leader do not have a good communication with the worker. The leader is not concern about the performance of worker. The leader keeps him away from the lower management. In the initial stage those behaviour are completely avoided. Because that behaviour creates barriers between those two stage. But in that time hardly needs to connect with all workers need to give them priority and also had to follow more motivational rule to get the productivity service from workers. So if SYNGENTA used to follow this design then they must have to face the platform of failure. Democratic leadership is the perfect style for SYNGENTA at the initial period. The principles of this method are to be connected with all workers strongly. Give them priority to put their experience in management meeting. Give them the right to talk not put the barriers of just following silently in their leg. Make them feel that they are also as important as like top management by put extra pressure of responsibilities in their shoulder. It will make them fell how trust the company has on them which influence them to work hard. In the initial stage the struggler company have put every step by thinking again and aging. Any mistake may cause the reason of breaking dream. But the dream of SYNGENTA is still alive that proofs then would not do those mistakes at these stages. They choose the right style to motivate their worker.
  • 13. 3.2-Comparethe application ofdifferentmotivationaltheories and their application within Syngenta. In organizations, motivating people is a highly researched subject as it contributes to both the quality of working life and the productivity of the organization (Wood et al, pg 78). Consequently, managers must perform a vital role of identifying what motivates an individual, create an environment to positively support and meet the needs of employees Maslow’s hierarchy of needs :A crystal concept provided by (Mount, 2002), that clarify human are surrounded with three types of needs, those are basic, emotional and practical need. Any person cans conceder himself to the person or organization that fills those needs perfectly. But the interesting part is need is like the hungry of elephant. How much someone feed won’t be able to satisfy. It will increase more and more. But the theory says by providing the five model of need that were categorized in three part before, able to control the incensement of need and able to motivate performer to perform. McGregor’s Theory X and Y: World is fill with various types of people who have different personality. To define some of those personality (Gordon, 2007) mentioned few words that is, few cars run smoothly till the end of oil but some are fully filled with oil but need to push. It does not start until getting the push. The theory tries to define those two type by X and Y.
  • 14. 3.3- Evaluate the usefulness of a motivation theory for managers in Syngenta. The starting point for all three different types of motivation theories is that they are built on the concept that intrinsic motivation is much stronger than extrinsic. This bedrock fundamental is perhaps the most powerful concept to apply in your work; see my post on top employee motivation for a more thorough review of incentive plans.it means that to get great results, you need people to be intrinsically interested in their work. Your efforts to control, set expectations, and reward people are all methods of extrinsic motivation, which helps explain why managers are often disappointed with employee results when relying on those motivation tools. Encourages Staff Improvement: By following the above theory manager Syngenta can encourage the staff to improve. Just have to erase the dissatisfaction option like set a friendly environment for work so that worker get motivated to learn by watching other performance.
  • 15. Task 4 4.1- Mechanisms for developing effective teamwork in organisations Different company divided their task into different project and hand over the projects to projects to make success. Need to identify the behavior of members and based on their personality have to categorized in different projects to achieve the goal of the projects Formal Project: Syngenta can open a formal project to execute a formal project like planning strategy, designing new marketing plan or different type of projects rely on top management. Informal Project: Syngenta can create an informal project for having some training to develop the performance. These projects’ members are mainly selected by their personal capability. Like some people are able to learn quickly by following the visual way. Then Syngenta will add all members that have visual ability in learning in this project. Group Behavior: Behavior helps to identify the individual members. Like Syngenta can use this to identify the personality that have strong marketing and leadership skill. Also can divide the informal projects based on their ability and personality types. Group work is an important key to enrich the performance of workers.
  • 16. 4.2-Discuss the factors thatmay promote or inhibitthe developmentof effective teamwork at Syngenta. Every task has a way and rule to perform. And to get success easily have to focus on some factors. Like other task teamwork also has some factors that help to get success in an easy and smooth way. Many factors are available there among them some key factors are described below. Group Size: Syngenta must maintain the size of the project. For any formal project need to launch a formal project including maximum 5-6 members. As it will be help to contribute easily. And for the informal learning project the number of the members will increase. Group Synergy: This factor indicates that how the ability of a project member will generate to other. During the team work a mixed of all management people work together in a project to achieve their goal. And in this process they share their experience and ability to each other. Group Knowledge: will able to increase their worker knowledge by launching both formal and informal team work. This will help to get future achievement. Skills and Ability Not just knowledge the system also will help to increase the level of skills and ability. So that can get positive result after applying those skills practically in work place. Team work helps to get the improvement in both personal and professional life. And those factors are evaluating that very clearly. 4.3- Evaluate the impact of technology on team functioning within Syngenta. Global world is being moderate day by day, leaving impact at all the sectors so business world why won’t get any touch of moderation. The moderation system makes the task of performer easier and helps any person to get the facilities by using it. Training of Staff
  • 17. Depends on capability and personality members are divided to get the easiest way to learn. Technology pushes learner one step to forward by providing the support of it (Molz, 2010). This technology will help visual or auditory learner to learn in a second. Team communication Team will able to get communication by the support of this factor. Like different regional project members of SYNGENTA can contact via skype. Work processes can be enhanced To enhance the work process technology contribute a lot. SYNGENTA can train their member via technology which will enhance the work process. Network and virtual teams Technology helps to create a network virtually. The project members are able to perform for the project by the virtual world. Technology sized the world fewer but also wide the world of knowledge wider. For that this factor is now able to contribute in business sectors also. Executive Summery The discussion makes the concept clear that the behaviour helps to create the formation of both formal and informal projects. The evaluation of different factors measured that how the members will be able to improve their ability and skills. And the touch of technology considers a positive reflection to the business.
