Mobile Seva Initiative
 Aims at mainstreaming mobile governance in India.
 The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology developed and
notified the framework for mobile governance in 2012.
 The framework aims to create unique infrastructure as well as application
development ecosystem for m - Governance in the country.
Main features of
the framework
 Web sites of all Government Departments and Agencies shall be made
mobile-compliant, using the “OneWeb” approach.
 Open standards shall be adopted for mobile applications for ensuring the
inter-operability of applications across various operating systems and
devices as per the Government Policy on Open Standards for e-
Governance.
 Uniform/ single pre-designated numbers (long and short codes) shall be
used for mobile-based services to ensure convenience.
 All Government Departments and Agencies shall develop and deploy
mobile applications for providing all their public services through mobile
devices to the extent feasible on the mobile platform. They shall also
specify the service levels for such services.

UMANG
Unified Mobile
Application for
New-age
Governance

 Launched on 23 November 2017.
 developed by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology(MeitY)
and National e-Governance Division (NeGD),
 At the time of launch the app had 172 services from 36 state and central
government departments and four states
 will replace or compliment 1500 apps launched by the government so far
 Citizens can access Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) services,
apply for a new permanent account number (PAN), pay bills using BHARAT
Bill Pay, book LPG cylinders etc.
 UMANG provides seamless integration with popular customer centric services
likeAadhaar and Digilocker.
 It provides a unified approach where you can install one application to avail
multiple government services.
 UMANG can be accessed on multiple channels like mobile application, web,
IVR and SMS which can be accessed through smartphones, feature phones,
tablets

Mobile Governance in India Mobile Seva Initiative  Aims at mainstreaming mobile governance in India.  The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology developed and notified the framework for mobile governance in 2012.  The framework aims to create unique infrastructure as well as application development ecosystem for m - Governance in the country.

Main features of the framework  Web sites of all Government Departments and Agencies shall be made mobile-compliant, using the “OneWeb” approach.  Open standards shall be adopted for mobile applications for ensuring the inter-operability of applications across various operating systems and devices as per the Government Policy on Open Standards for e- Governance.  Uniform/ single pre-designated numbers (long and short codes) shall be used for mobile-based services to ensure convenience.  All Government Departments and Agencies shall develop and deploy mobile applications for providing all their public services through mobile devices to the extent feasible on the mobile platform.   • 18. Conclusion In India, m-Governance is still at new stage and still need for more improvement to get a better m-Governance. GOI should come up with strategies to overcome the challenges faced by m-Governance.
