A Sleep disorder mainly associated with psychological
stress, pain, heartburn, hyperthyroidism and certain drugs
such as Caffeine , nicotine and alcohol.
insomnia could be acute , chronic or transit .
Usually treated with sedative hypnotics.
3. Mechanism of action:
BZD Drugs directly act on the GABA receptor ,a
neurotransmitter, that stimulates the release of sleep
chemical “Melatonin’’.

5. Adverse effect:
Over dosage of these drugs especially in patients aged aver
65 may cause;
Day time drowsiness
Motor vehicles crashes
Hip fracture
Improper dijestion
Confusions
