BUDDHISTS, MUSLIMS, BRAHMIN-HINDUS, SIKHS, AND
CHRISTIANS. WHILE THERE IS NO OFFICIAL STATE RELIGION, THE
CONSTITUTION REQUIRES THE KING TO BE BUDDHIST AND
DECLARES HE IS THE “UPHOLDER OF RELIGIONS”. THERE’S 85 TO
95 PERCENTS OF THE POPULATION IS THERVADA BUDDHIST AND 5
TO 10 PERCENTS ARE MUSLIM.

OF FOUR MAJOR LANGUAGE FAMILIES: TAI (A SUBFAMILY OF TAI-

AUSTROASIATIC LANGUAGES), AUSTRONESIAN, AND SINO-TIBETAN.

SCHOOL SUBJECT FROM THE PRIMARY GRADES ON UP, ALTHOUGH
ONLY CHILDREN WHO GO BEYOND THOSE GRADES, AND
ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ATTENDELITE SCHOOLS, GAIN
SIGNIFICANT COMPETENCE IN THE LANGUAGE.

Cuisine: A good Thai meal typically includes a
blend of spicy, mild, sweet, and sour dishes.
Visual arts: Buddhism has had a major influence
on Thai art, architecture, sculpture, and
painting.
Crafts: Thailand is renowned worldwide for its
silk, and its range of colour and designs,
including those employing tie-dye techniques,
are highly prized both within and outside of the
country.
Sports and recreation: The traditional martial
art of Thai boxing (Muay Thai) is Thailand’s
national sport.

Both nation share similar customs, music, traditions, beliefs, and ways of life.
Language: Thai royal language is derived from Khmer words and the two
languages still retain the same Pali-Sanskrit roots.
Traditional music: Thai and Khmer have similar music of pinpeat in
khmer/Piphat and the selection of musical instruments such as Roneat Ek,
Roneat thum (khmer) / Ranat Ek, Ranat Thum (thai).
Nang Sbek (shadow theatre) (or Lakhaon Nang Sbek; Khmer) is closely related
to the Nang Yai of Thailand.
When greeting people or to show respect in Cambodia and Thailand people
do the "SAMPEAH" gesture, identical to the indian namaste and THAI WAI.
Khmer cusiine is similar to that of its Southeast Asian neighbors. It shares
many similarities with Thai cusine also uses fish sause in soup, stir-fried
cuisine and as dipping.
Most of Cambodian and Thailand are Buddhism.
