This document outlines a project for students to create experimental animations in small groups. Over six weeks, students will participate in workshops on animation techniques, attend expert talks, develop ideas, plan productions, film, edit, and screen their final 40-second animations. The project aims to develop students' skills in animation, creative thinking, self-management, and teamwork while exploring diversity and sustainability. Progress and learning will be assessed based on animation criteria covering planning, techniques, realization of intentions, and self-evaluation.

Staff Involved Tutor: Nina Clutton Rachel Matthews Learning Mentor: Mark Waites Learning Coach: Charles Rawnsley
What you will be doing
You have formed a small production crew and will be working with artists to create a 40 second piece of experimental animation that will
be screened to a live audience at the C.F.A. Groups will be no larger than 4 people and will contain a mix of Art & Design and media
students. You must develop an experimental approach to animation that fuses the use of contemporary digital video production
techniques, mark making and concept materials. You will have the option of submitting your completed animation for an animation
competition of your choice. You will also have the opportunity to complete work on a student services theme.

How will this Learning Event help you to develop?
5. It is important that you reflect on these six categories in terms of your personal development and record in your eILP how these areas have been developed
during the event. Below, are examples of potential areas where development can take place.
Independent Enquirers Will have the opportunity to research different animation techniques and question their suitability for proposed responses
to the brief
Creative Thinkers Will have the opportunity to develop ideas for a creative project including choices for animation technique, material to use,
sound and creative editing
Reflective Learners Will be able to reflect on the success of their project during the screening for the public
Team Workers Will be working as part of production team throughout the project and during the workshops, making group decisions,
allocating tasks to individuals and fulfilling their given role within that group
Self-Managers Will be responsible for organising times for briefings, meeting with their group, shooting on locations, organising materials
and producing and following a production schedule
Effective Participators Will be taking part in a series of technical workshops that will develop the required skills for the project that follows
What wider outcomes might be achieved by participating in this Project?
