■ Boeing has unveiled its 2019 Commercial Market Outlook (CMO), which forecasts
massive growth over 20 years requiring 44,000 new jets.
■ The newest CMO shows growing passenger volumes and increasing airplane
retirements will drive the need for 44,040 new jets, valued at $6.8 trillion over the next
two decades and up 3 per cent from a year ago.
■ the global commercial fleet is expected to reach 50,660 airplanes by 2038.

■ Airbus has done extremely well over recent years to ramp up production for its popular
A320 family of jets, company today have a combined share of 91% in the commercial
aircraft market globally.
■ Growth in airplane deliveries has been higher for Airbus than for Boeing on account of
Airbus A320 family
■ Boeing delivered a total of 345 commercial aircraft in 2019 – down from 806 in 2018.
On the other hand,Airbus’ aircraft deliveries has swelled from 629 in 2014 to 863 in
2019.
Demand:
■ Airbus is forecasting demand for 39,210 new passenger and freighter aircraft over the
next 20 years, up from the previous outlook figure of 37,400.
■ This overall demand will include over 29,700 small types – such as the A220 andA320 –
plus nearly 5,400 medium models and 4,120 large aircraft.
■ Similarly the A330neo could edge into the “large” category, depending on specific
airline operations, alongside the A350.
■ Combined with 8,470 aircraft which will be retained from the current fleet, the new
aircraft delivered over the next two decades will take the overall world fleet to 47,680.

0.17% decline year-over-year.
