Economics Assignment
1. Economics Assignment:
For: Nadia Rafique
From: Muhammed Lodhi
Question 1: The growth was 3.63% and was above the Canadian long run
growth of 3.5 so it was above the average growth rate meaning it is growing at a
2. healthier rate. In 2008 the growth rate was 2.156% in 2009 it was 4.944 in 2010 it
was 4.502 and in 2011 it was 2.931 and if you average it you will get 3.63%.
Question 2: In my opinion the PC was a major contributor to the increasing of
productivity because of the invention of computer it meant you could do
multitask, you can install software’s to the PC for accounting and other stuff also
now you can computerize machines to start and stop when ever you want
meaning more output. The 2 inventions since 1990 that improved productivity a
lot is 1 the Internet. The Internet was a major contributor because since it’s
invention it made the world a lot smaller for businesses, you can search for
almost anything you want, all the knowledge and information is at your fingertips.
Five technological homeruns are the nuclear power plants because of the
invention of nuclear power you can do a lot of stuff such as create energy, use it
for medical purposes, and use it as weapons. The intergraded containers are
also another home run invention because up until this day it is used for shipping
cargo and goods. The third home run invention the CD it was a one time
invention and it is still used up until now even though now it is going out of use as
people are finding other means such as blue ray, USB and so on. Intergraded
circuits is another home run invention the last home run invention is the
transistor. The five single inventions are PC because every year they have too
keep updating it for it to stay up to date and to keep it in the market, the second
single is the Game console again with that each year you have to keep
upgrading it to stay in the market. The third single invention was the DVD
3. because it became outdated faster because people changed to other means
such as Blue ray or they watch movies online using sites such as Netflix. The
fourth single invention was the bipolar transistor and the last single invention
was the bipolar transistor because they keep changing it every few years
Question 3: The difference between Canada and Chinese growth over the last
25 years is that China has experienced a 9 percent annual growth rate over the
last 25 years. While Canada experienced a 4.63% growth rate over the last 25
years how I got that was 2012 GDP/1987 GDP (1 + i)^25 = 3.103 { (1+i) √301.325
}
1+I = 1.10463, i = 0.463, =4.43. So the Chinese and do not compare because
china had a larger growth rate than that of Canada also Canada has a stronger
financial institution than that compared of china and also the unemployment rate
is not as high. But they do compare in 1 way that the growth rate did not go down
rather it was steady. I believe there is a great disparity between china’s costal
cities and interior regions because the Chinese economy is switching from a
agriculture base to an urban based economy meaning like factories and so on.
