Zaha Hadid was an Iraqi-British architect known for pioneering deconstructivism in modern architecture. She was the first woman and first Muslim recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004. Hadid studied mathematics at the American University of Beirut and architecture at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. She founded her own firm, Zaha Hadid Architects, in 1980 in London. Some of her notable projects include the Vitra fire station in Germany, the BMW Central Building in Leipzig, and the Library and Learning Center at the University of Economics Vienna.
