THE BEST ADVICE
Throughout my life, I have heard many free advices from my
friends and family members. However, the best advice that I have
received would definitely be from my mom and she said, “Everything
happens for a reason”. This is the best advice I have received because it
teaches me to be patient and gives me hope whenever bad things happen.
Since I was a little girl, I always hear mom says "Everything happens
for a reason." I always hear her saying it for both good and bad things
that happened. Not only that, hearing her telling me this when she saw me
upset made me put it in my mind and apply it in my everyday life. Finding
myself in discouraging situations; like missing the bus to get to school or
being rejected by a friend, I remember always getting mad at myself
3. and other people near me when at that time, little did I know, those
frustrating moments were for me to learn patience and perseverance
I learn to face the bitter truth of reality - life is not all about rainbow and
sunshine. There was also the time when I applied to enroll into a famous
university and when my application was rejected, I was devastated. As
always, my mom came to me with the same advice, reminding me to be
patient as “everything happens for a reason”. Today, I am glad I listened to
her because I am now at a school where the teachers and friends are
very caring and helpful, and this is a lot better than anything else
because it is not easy to find such gems in this world.
The older I get, there were more situations coming my way that got
me upset easily yet the advice kept my faith intact. To mention a few, some
friends made me upset and sad when they stopped calling me, strangers
made me upset because they cut queue in front of me at a grocery store,
4. the school rules made me upset because it restricted my freedom.
Back then, it was easier to get upset than being happy and thankful for
other things that I possessed. However, recently, mom’s advice really sinks
in and I eventually realized that I must grow up and learn not to give up so
easily. I became fully aware that very soon, I will be an adult and have
more responsibilities to carry, and there will be more things that might
make me upset. Since then, I tried to see beyond the situation and try to
focus on the positive sides instead. As the saying goes “you can either
think the cup is half full or half empty.” I should choose to be optimistic.
Every now and then, as I go through my routine, mom’s advice pops
in my mind. “Everything happens for a reason is an outstanding advice. It
keeps pushing me to believe that there is always a light at the end of every
tunnel, although some tunnels just happen to be longer than others.
