Ms. Floyd served as an intern in my Oakland District Office. As an undergraduate student
expanding her professional horizons, Ms. Floyd displayed the flexibility, independent thinking
and responsibility necessary for a dynamic work environment.
The 14th Assembly District encompasses a diverse portion of California including urban and
metropolitan areas as well as large and suburban communities. Its constituents host a wide range
of economic, social and political experiences. The issues that arise here are challenging and
require a great degree of innovation, collaboration, and empathy. Monica certainly possesses
these traits. She showed a remarkable level of consideration and concern for my constituents
who came to my District Office in search of assistance and who called or wrote in with
passionate opinions about the issues facing our state.
Monica quickly understood the day-to-day needs of a small and fast-moving office and she
displayed a willingness to do whatever was necessary to make our efforts a success. As the
primary organizer of a summer health fair she worked collaboratively with city government
agencies as well as community non-profit agencies to produce a quality community service
event. Monica committed herself to essential office operations such as database and social media
management, and research with the same energy and follow-through as the more creative and
challenging aspects of the internship. Ms. Floyd possesses an enthusiastic interest and
commitment to politics and interpersonal relations.
