1. Research for “Dying on the inside” - Short film
Client research
Sunderland culture is a registered charity that relies on generous support. They bring together
Sunderland’s cherished cultural assets and activities to show the city’s potential. They have loads of
distinct locations that are in various parts of Sunderland. Their aim is to improve life for everyone living
in Sunderland; they want to do this through art, heritage, and culture. They encourage as many people
as possible to get involved to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in Sunderland.
Research in eating disorders
There are diverse types of eating disorders there is “Anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating
disorder, other specified feeding or eating disorder and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder.” Even
though these can be separate a person can suffer with more than one.
2.7% of teenagers will experience an eating disorder in their lifetime. 13% of adolescents will develop an
eating disorder by the age of 20. 3.8% of females and 1.5% of male's adolescents will struggle with an
eating disorder. Most common age group is between 12-25. 2.7% of teens will struggle with a
diagnosable eating disorder but there is a higher number of people who do not seek help or meet full
criteria for a diagnosis. Eating disorders are the third most diagnosed chronic illness in teens.

This short story is about a young couple, and he is struggling with an eating disorder. It shows how it
affects his life, her life, and their relationship. This short film shows how even though she is in a
relationship with him she truly does not understand what they are going through even though he is
telling her; as she does not understand.

This short film follows a day of a girl who is anorexic, she goes to a therapy session and briefly talks
about how she feels. We see that she is with her “friend”, but it is her eating disorder telling her that she
is fine, and her therapist is wrong.

This is a short film about anorexia and how it can just happen in someone's life randomly. It starts with a
girl reading a letter about Ana being her friend, but that friendship comes with a Darkside. The girl is
thinking about it but throws the letter in the bin as she knows it is not going to be a healthy friendship.
Evaluation
Looking through these different short films I have gathered knowledge of what I should include in my
short film. I want to create a style that is informative, personal and make people aware of this subject. I
do not want to make it really triggering as it is already a triggering subject for some; but I want people to
know how bad it can get without that person realizing but if they do realize it still does not make them
aware enough to stop.
