Apple in the years has become more aware that product design is more dependent on consumer
needs. This has led them to revolutionize their production of the iPhone line of smartphones.
IPhone 6 the 2015 sensation in the smartphone world set a benchmark on the phone
specifications such as screen size, sleekness, and processing power. The production of the iPhone
6 was meant to keep apple at the sharp end of a market that was beginning to lust after powerful,
big screen smartphones with clever and premium design. The smartphone market a market
dominated by realisation of achieving consumer need and giving them the wow factor in the
product puts a strain to the players. Apple which already has embedded itself a market niche is
able to maintain this niche by producing elegant, faster and faster smartphones.
This is a big departure for Apple, marking a time when it admitted that the industrial sharp
design of the last four iPhone models are a little outdated and there is need for a complete update
to the ergonomics to really compete. Well with the Apple iPhone 6 we are looking at one of the
thinnest and sleekest handsets in the market. It’s got a strong combination of a metal back with is
mostly based on design specifications of the iPad air and the way the screen curves into the
chassis gives it a slight lozenge feel.
IPhone 6 has its fair of competition with htc, nokia and Samsung amongst other market players
in the smartphone race to superiority. Apple products comes with a social status attached to
ownership this has been built due to the goodwill and former products that were produced. Apple
products tend to be a bit pricey this has however not deterred it from having big sales. The
smartphone race based on screen size, camera specification, processing power and design are
2. met by the iPhone 6 making it a worthy competitor. The iPhone 6 runs on the IOS operating
system that is owned solely for use by Apple products unlike its competitors who mostly share
the operating systems platforms.
The current smartphone market is based on a “me “perspective with people wanting the phone to
have more capabilities. Use of voice based artificial intelligence functionalities in operating the
phone makes it more hands free. People want to take pictures more the “selfie” revolution has
led to adaptation of better front cameras. People want a smartphone that has both fun and
business aspects the need to continually keep updated on social matters and office work has led
to increased number of compatible applications that can ran on the smartphone.
Who is going to drop the next big thing is the defining aspect in the smartphone world. The
iPhone 6 is Apples come back into the market in an effort to curve its sales share portion. The
presence of cheaper devices with the same capabilities has made it hard for a monotonous market
this is beneficial in terms of customer choice and preferences. Microsoft windows based phones,
androidand other companies are other key major players whose devices are striving to curve into
the market this makes Apple to really improve on their research and development teams for
continuity in their market share.

Use of the internet for continuous updates in the smartphone world and understanding in the
specification requirements in phones enabled the thoroughly analysis of Apples iPhone 6 entry
into the market.
3. User needs are the major focus in the production of smartphones today. This has led to
revolution of company’s research and development teams to be more open minded to consumer
requirement. By having follow ups on blogs and comments from people the designs of such
phones are able to be altered on aspects of customer feel on the device. Use of critics has also
played a major part in the growth of the market because companies want to produce devices that
resolve issues noted on former products. Companies have also started to woo customers by
providing gadgets such as smart watches that are slowly cropping up as a expectation of each
device when produced.
Breach of copyrights, trademarks and intellectual properties has also been noted in the recent
times. Companies have been seen going to court on aspects such as design replication without
authorization. This can be exhibited by the latest Apple and Samsung law suit on design
infringement.
