“Prague isn’t just a city, but an entity
of some kind” – Sezin Koehler
PRAGUE ATTRACTIONS
Prague is the capital and largest city in the Czech Republic, the 14th largest city in the
European Union and the historical capital of Bohemia. Situated in the north-west of
the country on the Vltava river, the city is home to about 1.3 million people, while its
metropolitan area is estimated to have a population of 2.6 million. The city has a
temperate climate, with warm summers and chilly winters.
The Dancing House has a very non-traditional design and controversial at the same
time because the house stands out among the Baroque, Gothic and Art Nouveau
buildings for which Prague is famous.
The Prague Astronomical Clock is a medieval astronomical clock located in the centre
of Prague. The clock was first installed in 1410, making it the third-oldest astronomical
clock in the world and the oldest one still operating.
Charles Bridge is a historic bridge that crosses the Vltava river in Prague. Charles
Bridge has suffered several disasters and witnessed many historic events. Czech
legend has it that construction began on Charles Bridge at 5:31am on 9 July 1357 with
the first stone being laid by Charles IV himself.
